Are we really signing Douglas Costa? What is going on someone please explain to me how we've gone from buying really good young players with huge potential to buying randomly overated players from poor leagues.
With the way things are looking I'm beginning to feel if Jose was in charge we wouldn't even have Hazard now. I love the fact he wants hard working players but cone on where is the flair, ingenuity?
Nothing is sure but of we sign Costa I'll be so disappointed why not just give Traore a chance as fifth choice ffs and use the money on players we do need even if not Pogba another solid can that could actually add to the squad immediately not another average amf who would most likely sit on the bench. Come on this is becoming rather annoying our youth team don't stand a chance.
All we need is a striker assuming Didier and Remy leave with Bamford or another young player as third choice, a solid cmf with mikel, ramires making way for Ake and occasionally RLC and maybe even Oscar leaving in which case Pogba and Koke being first choice and a cb Varane or Marquinhos with Jt getting a year contract Please no more average buys, it's really depressing.

I totally agree mate. Waste of money again. We have a player who is one of the best in the Dutch league on loan and were buying someone from a worse league with like 2 goals and 5 assists. Traore or even Boga who probably has a better end product would be better 5th choice.
I'd like to see Koke replace Oscar then move Fabregas to no.10 the closest he is to Hazard and Costa the better he'll be IMK. Koke'S quite a broad chap and has a great work rate and I think we'd be more solid with them two there.

I will admit that I have only seen costa through YouTube vids, but the videos are supposed to make the player look good skills, goals etc. I'm sorry but going off the many clips on YouTube I think the money would be better spent on other areas of the team. We need to promote youth into our squad with the likes of izzy brown, RLC and boga not to mention the loanees like bamford who's scoring goals for fun. Like the above post has said unless we are buying a big player like pogba, reus who will be first team regulars then I don't see a point in having a £20-£25m sub.

Doug Costa could be a great player, I've never seen him play so I'm trusting the transfer committee on this one, they've proven us wrong on many times before (they got salah right! Look at him at Fiorentina now! Just didn't settle)
In addition, I'd give Piazon a chance before Traore, Piazon is going to be a world beater and clearly a more creative Cam than oscar. Effective on the wing as well

Disagree with you on that one, Aron. IMO Traore is already a better player than Piazon and I'd love to see him back next season (though my hope of that happening would diminish greatly if Douglas Costa was brought in during the summer). I find Piazon a bit of a weird case. He had a lot of hype coming in if I'm not mistaken but I've read from a lot of people who've watched him play that he hasn't progressed all that much. I'd be surprised if he makes it at Chelsea.
To the original post. I haven't seen Douglas Costa play at all, but apparently he's got bundles of talent in him so maybe he's worth a shot, who knows. Our scouting commitee is in all likelihood much more thorough than we are when assessing a player.

I wouldn't rate Traore in the Dutch league, much much worse than the Bundesliga
Might be just me, don't get me wrong! Traore is an amazing player from what I've seen, but maybe Piazon would be better :)

If we sell oscar, both piazon and traore would be able to earn their place in first team squad next year

We should not sell Oscar! Yes he's inconsistent and it can be frustrating. But when he has a good game then he makes our team tick. One of the most intelligent players we have IMO and I'd hate to see him go. He's just 23 years old, time is still on his side.
I believe we should just bring back Traore (or Piazon if the club believes him to be better suited) as 5th choice attacking mid and then just leave it at that.

The problem with oscar is that he is going downhill and the longer we wait the less we will get for him

{Ed018's Note - I will second that idea. Right now Oscar is offering nothing playing in that role and I think Hazard would be brilliant playing there}
