Well today was a good news/bad news day. Good been Guardiola is off to Bayern Munich and we won't be paying stupid money for an over-rated manager, bad news been we blew a 2 goal lead in our game in hand against a team we mauled only 2 weeks ago on their own turf. the message is clear, if Ba can't play much because of his knee the why did we splash £7mil on him? We need another class striker and maybe a defensive midfielder and left back. Please can we get Courtois back asap and make him our ist choice keeper?

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Your really coming out of this game thinking ba was the problem. he had a solid game feeding off the little ball he was given and scored. the striker wasnt the problem today, it was the fact that our midfield didn't control the game and didn't track back and defend

Agree2 Disagree1

Im not blaming Ba for anything, 3 games 3 goals can't be sniffed at, just when we need a striker because our main one isnt performing, get one that can play a full match and doest need resting so much because of a knee problem. I really would like to know who deals with the transfers at Chelsea, makes us look stupid and desperate.

Agree0 Disagree3

Why all this fascination with courtois? The bloke has never even played in England, are you really trying to tell me that the goals last night where down to Cech? If so you really are deluded, I suggest you actually go to a match, the problem last night wasn't the keeper both our full backs had poor games, both goals came from the flankes, a ball into the box that I your defenders failed to deal with, each time giving the keeper no chance.
The only player that we should be getting rid of is Torres he spreads a bad vibe through the stadium when his name is read out, and when he comes on to play you know that we're desperate, the fella is finished.

Agree4 Disagree1

You do know ba played the whole match right?

Agree0 Disagree0

Question is will Ba play against Arsenal on Sunday? Courtois is a very good young keeper and can push Cech for the 1st team. The longer he stays at Atletico the more he becomes part of that team and will want to stay there.

Pep has given Roman the finger today. Surly managers have cottoned on that the project at Chelsea is not worth their effort. Even if you win trophies your only a few bad results from the tin tack.
Other big clubs want to build for the future with a view to long term stability.
We have an owner with too much money, now we really are his play thing and he keeps pressing the reset button.
I hope he sticks with Rafa, if he presses the reset button again now who knows who we will end up with and for how long.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

I don't think Pep's particularly surly
IBH

Agree1 Disagree0

Think we're running out of managers.. Since roman took over this is first time everything has back fired and summed us up..he sacked a fan favourite and man he got
In not as good as he though and not liked by fans we are out of everything worth winning and the managers we want are laughing at us and going else where..

Agree3 Disagree0

You'll always attract managers - top earnings and they let you go with a juicy payoff after 3 months. Luverly jubbleeee!

So now you are all starting to welcome the fat spanish waiter! only thing he will serve you is a pile of tapas haha. oh how you forget so easily!

After tonight's loss of more home points, it must now must be obvious to everybody in the so-called Chelsea heirarchy that there is a fundamental problem - no solid foundation and no continuity within the coaching set-up. They need to get a top-class coach and then leave him alone to sort out the mess they have caused. The club has basically spent the Abramovich years shooting itself in the foot when it could really be dominating European football. Do you have any crumbs that might reassure supporters that lessons have been learnt. Please don't tell me that winning trophies shows they are right - it doesn't.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

16 Jan 2013 22:05:59
After they scored we barely even threatened. Spent the time knocking the ball around the half way line. Under di Matteo I always felt confident we would score, even with time running out. Late winners/equalisers against reading, shahktar, united in league cup. Now I just can't see us scoring.

If we are not ahead at half time we have never won a game under Benitez, barring the Everton game. We have won 2 of the seven games at home, Fulham, qpr, Swansea, Southampton have all gained points off us.

It's no coincidence. Liverpool were exactly the same under Benitez, dropping points at home to lesser teams.

We will probably go and beat arsenal and we will forget about this result, until we drop points to west ham or Wigan or whoever is next. Benitez is an excellent European coach, but a poor league one in England

Believable3 Unbelievable4

You are probably right, after every creepy performance we normally win our next game, but this time around is against arsenal at home and the bridge don't seems to look fearsome anymore. I don't understand the reason why we can beat a team 5 goals to 1 in his home ground and can't do the same in our own yard. My team have gone through hell this season.

I think Luiz in midfield along with Oscar.. Luiz didn't do anything wrong in defence but we missed him in middle today.. Ramires has legs and energy but cannot pass and Oscar seems better deeper he plays.. I'm gutted about game.. 2-0 up at half time AT HOME .,
And we drop more points.. Even when rafa had both strikers on he put Torres wide.. Can't stand the bloke and be will never win fans over like this or like Swansea or QPR.. These are as important as Everton away stoke away arsenal away Tottenham away..
Matt

Believable6 Unbelievable0

We are going backwards under this clown!

Agree3 Disagree3

You do realise that Rafa wasn't actually one of the 11 men on the field playing for us?

IB.

Agree4 Disagree4

No but as a manager at half time and two goals up should change things about and make sure we keep 3points.. Nigel Atkins changed players and formation to get points rafa did nothing. Rafa has used same formation for every game.. No matter what team or style.. Fergie would never do that.. That's why he will never win prem league, inconsistent and clueless. Fulham QPR Southampton west ham... 10points we should of had easily..
Matt

Agree0 Disagree2

So were 2 - 0 up at home and you want him to change it at half time?
Crazy, whatever he does you are going to complain

PB

Agree4 Disagree3

Your arrogance is your downfall, Matt - you expect to win by downgrading the likes of QPR and Southampton. there are no easy points in the PL any more (except Chelsea at the Bridge)

cozinoz

Agree3 Disagree1

The spine of our team is too weak, when we were winning big trophies we always had a solid spine, Czech, terry, lamps, drog.
Now with injuries and players getting older or leaving we look weaker down the middle. The central defence seems to be a different partnership every game and the same for the centre midfield. And as for strikers!!
We have never adequately replaced players like carvalho, ballack, essien, drogba. Until this is rectified and players like Ramirez and Torres are replaced then I am afraid we are always going to be 2nd best too city and utd.

Agree3 Disagree0

Jose would of shut up shop and took 3 points or at 2-1 when they got back into it what did he do,, nothing and when he did bring ok Torres he had him out wide,, hmmm yeah nice one rafa,,

Agree1 Disagree0

I agree. We should of changed at half time. Despite being 2-0 up we weren't playing well. After Southampton scored Benitez should of pushed Luiz into midfield and put Terry on. Also Oscar and Mata provided little in the first half due to our CM's being to slow to pass to our front 3, allowing them to be marked out the game. We didn't control the midfield at all. Ramires and Lampard are too attack-minded to play together.
Hunter

Agree0 Disagree0

I would hardly say its arrogance.. So when you look at games like Southampton at home or QPR AT HOME. You think it's a game that would be good if we drew or got a point out of the game.. As a team trying to win the title which should be expected of us games against bottom half of league should be must wins. I am not saying to under estimate the teams but we should be winning them games..

saw the match yesterday...did i missed rafa playing yesterday for chelsea..
cant understand...whats wrong with poeple here..
2-0 half time..same team..should have gone and played a controlled game....
again rafa fault...nonsens..
if løampard starts...rafa fault..lampard doesnt start...rafa again gets the boo..
this is nonsense...
this was the strongest possible 11..
oscar, mata, hazard, lamaprd ramirez..
what on earth you want..?
which better player was sitting at the bench..
go now fire rafa...and search for another mickey mouse to manage chelsea..
guys get a grip...Pepe is rated high by other managers..and if he showed us middle finger..I douubt any other top manager would come to us...

Its not a 2 month job of rafa benitez is our peoplem..
we are sole responsible for our problem which started years back..

common soneone saying..push luiz into midfield..and then add terry...

Why is it with all the quality players we have we can't close out a game and turn chances in to goals, where utd can come from behind every week? They have at least 3 strikers that would be our number 1. When can we expect a clinical finisher to finish off our plethora of chances every match?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I didn't see a plethora of chances. Ba did well in the first half with his link up play and chances he had.

Ads

Agree1 Disagree0

To be fair we didn't create many chances today. today it wasnt about the scoring it was about controlling the game after wed scored. we had no one in midfield who could do that and soton got back into the game

Easy 3 points lost tonight. Arsenal is a must win game now. Think we will do it, but need to not boo, doesn't help players at all.
Cech
Azpilicueta Ivanovic Cahill Cole
Luiz Ramires
Mata Oscar Hazard
Ba

Positives:
Link up with front-four was good
Hazard, Oscar both excellent
Created chances
Ba scored his first goal which will hopefully give him confidence

Negatives
Poor defending for both goals
Luiz needs to be CDM
Lampard slowed down play today, shouldn't be a starter
Azplilicueta struggled a lot with Shaw
CAN'T DEFEND CROSSES!
EH17
Any comments guys?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Ramires passing not good enough Oscar alongside Luiz maybe play two strikers not torres out wide,

Agree2 Disagree0

Comments? Yes, your pure arrogance deserves the result you got tonight.
"Easy three points..."

If you don't respect your opposition you will continue to drop points.

Not a word on here about how well Saints played. Absolutely typical.

Oscar excellent! ..... your havin a laugh.

Hey MB do one okay, Oscar was good when he was on the ball so don't talk like he was in effective. People on here baffle me. Hence, I don't post as much I used to. Clueless...

ELI

Agree2 Disagree4

For me the lampard - ramires combo doesnt work, hence why was always passing at the back. no link up from lampard & ramires to the attacking trio. always to slow. shows how bad they were when luiz can find passes from 40 yards but lamps couldn't find a 5 yard pass to hazard. you could see how deep they were having to come. people were moaning why isnt lampard not starting...
he was the worst in 22 players yesterday..
the only possitive..
ba and hazzard..
Ed..is david lui actually a CB of brazil?
I mean who selct him to be a CB?

Now with this performance.rafa is left with to start berntad and mikel..
no please don't complain if he start them...

we were missing moses..

Oscar should never start..never ever..

If by Good on the ball you mean getting outmuscled off the ball then yea he was great. Gave the ball away half the time he got it aswell. Look 10x better when he came deeper. Watch the Oscar closely Eli then come back to me.

Ladies and Gentleman let's face the facts here, Chelsea F.C. Are a shambles from the board down to he whole set up.

There will a few muppets on here tonight defending this performance, but when all is said and done this was Southampton not Real Madrid .

Rafa just go and take Torres with you, don't keep banging on about forwards let's start defending, the team are a joke and last but not least get Coutoius back and retire Cech .

Rafa Benitez will take us to OUR grave.

I have never questioned RA's judgement but the sacking of Di Matteo for Rafa had suicide written all over it. I don't want to believe that Rafa was appointed to bring the best out of our FLOP aka Torres. League position seems to be getting worse by the week. His rotation philosophy isn't working. Stamford Bridge used to be a fortress for us, what is happening now?? I'm glad he get booed the hell out of...

Shocking season so far and it may get worse tbh.

Our fullbacks just gone missing. For the first goal Cole was nowhere to be seen near Clyne, clear cross - goal.

Azpiliqueta, who i think is a poor man's Ferreira at best, just got turned on by Shaw and was left some 5 yards behind. Clear cross - goal.

Our passing is just horrible. Ramires and Lampard looked terrible. We just can't keep the ball. Unless it's Hazard - there's trouble. Mata's worn out and it's showing.

I wished Benitez took Ramires of and pushed Luiz in the middle at about 60th minute. Southampton started building pressure, Rafa responded with nothing. This man has no clue when it comes to changing the game, during the gameplay.

Remember - RDM got sacked, when we were 4 points behind Man United.

JG

Believable1 Unbelievable3

I agree with 90% of what you said. The only part I disagree with is 'Azplilcueta is a poor mans Ferreira'. Yes he was found out today against Shaw but otherwise has been quite solid every other game he's played.
Hunter

Agree3 Disagree2

RDM got sacked due to embarassing form in Europe and a couple of bad results. We started the season well and were therefore close to UTD, but when we started to drop points and lose games it didn't look like RDM was able to turn it around. I highly doubt we would be in a better position right now if he was still in charge. We were literally leaking goals under him.

I don't get why at 2-0 up at half time with arsenal at weekend don't rafa make some changes and close up shop take 3 points.. He keeps saying to get fans he must win then drops points...

Believable1 Unbelievable1

16 Jan 2013 21:43:31
Have to say that we lost the lead due to Rafa. It was obvious in the first half that we weren't playing well despite being 2-0 up. He should of looked to change it up then, with Oscar and Mata not having contributed much. Even if he had decided to wait to see if they clicked in the second half, he should of definitely changed it up after Southampton scored. We lacked control in midfield and our passing was way to slow to the front 3. I would of pushed Luiz into midfield with Terry coming on and maybe taken both Oscar and Mata off bringing on Marin. Really disappointed with the draw. Thought that we were going to do a Utd, winning whilst not playing well.

why didn't we play with a defensive midfielder? we went 2-0 up and kept 5 attacking midfielders on the pitch.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

If he changed to a defensive shape. Everyone including me would have been moaning. With the team we had out you would have expected us to go on and win by 3 or 4. We just have no confidence at home.

Ads

Agree3 Disagree0

Not like we got big London derby at weekend or anything.. RAFAOUT

Agree0 Disagree2

Playing a defensive midfielder doesnt mean changing to a defensive shape it means playing a guy who can break up attacks and get the ball back to our attackers. barcelona play with an "attacking shape" and have a dm. every quality team does, we played 5 attacking midfielders today its no wonder we couldnt control the game

Agree0 Disagree0

To Ads, it was obvious it wasn't working in the first half. Ramires and Lampard were taking too long to get the ball to the front trio, allowing them to be marked out the game. Both of them are also more attacking players and we lacked control in the center of midfield.

They are world beaters.jose' has proved himself everywhere his been, and look at the team he built us! I believe Jose' will be back. Roman doesn't have the patience for bringing youth threw, as much as it pains me. And Jose' likes a proven player too. As long as him and roman both know where they stand with each other, then it will work. Jose' has unfinished business with Chelsea and knows he will be loved again unlike at Madrid.

Gentelmen, i still can't understand some of yours ignorance towards Bundesliga. You're like Romans towards Barbarians.

Bundesliga is an amazing football league. With highest gate numbers in the world. With second biggest and best national talent pond in Europe. And really big money.

Pep is just another example of their ambitions. And i'm sure that Germans won't settle for the third best European league moniker for long.

Therefor forget Klopp. As i have told you before, on here - we got nothing better to offer, than he has already at Dortmund.

And why would Low leave die manschaft with a year left until WC2014 in Brazil.

We should better start embracing the idea of Benitez extending his stay at the Bridge.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Nope rejected by Pep know we are stuck with Rafa ed

Agree1 Disagree0

Why are chelsea fans never happy with the manager, maybe it's the minority that make the majority look bad but abramovich opening his cheque book to sign another manager is not the solution to problems. Do you think getting rid of rafa is going to tempt any top manager to come and change things when they know they will be hounded out in 6 months time. Clubs in transition do have bleak periods and you have to accept it for what it is. I'm not a chelsea fan by the way. But you do have a very good squad if you gave the manager enough time to work with it

Agree2 Disagree1

Rafa was only appointed as an interim manager he was never supposed to be long term and he appears to have accepted that. rafa won't be "fired" at the end his contract will run out. then he'll move to madrid because why would he want to stay here when he's constantly booed

Honestly do not see the fascination with Isco to Chelsea.

I think he has the potential to be world class really rate him but do we actually need another Mata and Hazard. He is exactly the same type of player who plays behind the striker exactly what Mata and Hazard do what we need is a more direct winger who runs down the touchline for example Bale or Marco Reus which neither seem likely to join us.

I feel Moses is an extremely under rated player because he's direct and gives us power and pace but if we go for another winger of the three behind the striker I wouldn't go for Isco or even Willian come to think of it

If we do sign another player I hope it's Fellaini because he could be world class in the pivot with David Luiz as Luiz could hold while Fellaini drives forward and would also give us that presence in midfield what we've lacked since Ballack left.

Opinions Ed?

A lot of fans want Jose back and whilst I think he is an amazing manager; probably top 3, I don't think his style of play suits our players.Which would involve more transition of bringing in more Mourinho players. Players which we have been gradually phasing out. If Jose were to come I'd be more than happy as he brought us some wonderful years and made the Bridge into a fortress. Also those of you slagging Mourinho off for Real Madrid's form, he doesn't care about their domestic form. For all he cares they could finish bottom of the league. The dressing room is split due to fighting between Spanish and Portugese players. They're something like 18 points off Barcelona, so there's nothing to gain in the league. Also he wants to leave RM next year, however has 2 years left on his contract. He wants a payout and the only way he'll get that would be to be fired.

Whats everyones opinion on Josh McEachran and Chalobha (spelling)? Ill start with Josh, starts every game but when things are not going well for Boro they take him off after 50/60 mins. Shows signs of brilliance then non excistant. Chalobha starts every game, very consistant and disaplined. Looks the real deal IMO. Chalobha 18, McEachran 21? Not sure McEachran will be the player everyone thought he would be (including me). DJ (dave please don't reply to this, for CHELSEA fans only)

Are you serious? his passing is unbelievable at times, josh has taken alot longer to develop. yes he goes quiet in games, but if you realised he's played his fair share of games on the left. its also his first season in 1st team football & has had a niggling injury since december. BLUEBOY1

Agree2 Disagree2

Chalobah will be captain of
Chelsea one day and
Josh like you said isn't the player alot of people expected from him.. Look at wilshire think there few years difference but wilshire is important player for arsenal

See, two replies different opinions. that's what this site is all about. Sham we have "persons" like dave trolling! DJ

I think McEachran will prove to be a decent Premier League player but I just can't see him breaking into the first team at Chelsea. Hate to say it but for the sake of his career I think he needs to look for a full time move in the summer.

Chalobah should be brought into the first team next season - he is an outstanding footballer. He has been a driving force in the Watford midfield and a major reason for their good form this season.

Josh is a special footballer, passing range is something of xavi / modric, clever movement. he needs to bulk up. before december he was the above the rest in the championship. he's been played out of position a fair bit.BLUEBOY1

Agree0 Disagree1

And he has just recovered from an injury...

My preferences for perm manager: 1.Guardiola 2.Low 3.Klop 4.Mourinho (the last thing we need is more controversy).

Believable1 Unbelievable1

I'd go TSO, Klopp, guardiola, but low wouldn't be next.

Why don't we just keep Benitez?
