I was absolutely disgusted with our performance yesterday as one of the fans there we deserved a lot better from our team.
Defence:
As much as I love Ivanovic when he plays rb and azpi left back there's just no balance to our side at all and we're becoming to predictable. It's obvious Cahill and Terry are our best centre backs who are quality together. What annoys me is Ivanovic at right back getting forward when he is shocking at crossing the ball. Azpilicueta is a fantastic full back but with him at left back he can't cross the ball left footed which doesn't help hazard no matter how solid he is. With Azpilicueta right back and Cole left back we have two full backs who can help out attackers and can also get a decent cross in the box which Ivanovic lacks although he's a great player. A back four of Azpilicueta - Cahill - Terry - Cole is our most balanced defence in my opinion with Ivanovic as great cover from the bench.
Holding midfielders:
As for the two players in centre midfield I think Matic is obviously a cert. he has impressed me so much since his return a complete player all round. The player I would like to see partner him there is David Luiz. I don't think Mourinho luke him there but I don't know why, centre midfield is made for Luiz. Him and Matic together would give us power, good quality passing and a great engine for the midfield and to win the physical battles. I think it would let Oscar be more attacking also. I do have a soft spot for Ramires but he's been so inconsistent this season and his passing still hasn't improvexd and that's why I like Luiz there instead. Attacking three:
I think it's nailed on who our best three are behind the striker, Willian, Oscar and Hazard. These three interchanging have been really good although Willian does need to start scoring more to entirely convince me. With power and presence of Luiz and Matic behind Oscar I think he could flourish more because he knows them two can provide a solid centre. I would like to see Schurrle play more although he's been very hit and miss so far I think he does have the quality maybe which we won't see till next season but I do rate him and so do Germany because he's been brilliant for them. I wasn't over the moon when we signed Salah and I'm still not convinced he will make it at Chelsea I would have like to see us try and sign Shaqiri a proven RM who just isn't getting the game time at Bayern but salah's here now. My attacking three are Willian - Oscar - Hazard.
Striker:
Well if seems to be between Torres and Eto'o for this. I personally prefer Torres just because he puts players on the back foot and also links up well with others. Striker - Torres
So that's my honest opinion I would just like to see is more balanced with fu backs who can cross the ball and then power and good passing ability in the centre. The way we played against Liverpool at home first half after Cole came on helped me decide because we played the best we played all season then and still looked solid. With two 'marquee' signings in the summer which for me would be Cavani and Shaw to replace Cole and Torres I think that could be a world class side under Jose.
