How stupid is it going against your team and admitting that you haven't got the squad's backing. Moreover - you don't need it as long as you have got owners backing. That's probably the fastest way out of the club. Even top experienced managers don't do these kind of iditiotic comments. Poor man, he's so lost.

One thing i know from the Roman years is that his board (s) never accept negative publicity as a constant theme. And we are only gathering negativity this season. It makes me sick, too.

Time to put a dot and start anew.

I don't think his lost at all. how else do u reply to such questions when the whole world know about it. atleast suggesting the owners backing sends a statement to the individuals that dnt back him. get behind avb rathee than moaning

Chelsea have to deal with a problem that has been rotting then from the inside for too long, player power. worse still these players are over the hill. its quite embarrassing really that we are being weighed down by some players past there prime in there mid 30's. take a step back and realise how ridiculous it is.

Agree2 Disagree0

It is ridiculous, indeed. But the board has to take blame for it, not the mangers. Why haven't we ousted some parts of it awhile back? Why haven't we rejuvenated the squad annualy, rather than the wholesale, which is looming. We could have sold Kalou and Malouda, now one will leave on a free and the other for some mere few.

Whats with Obi? Even he himself knows tgere are no future plans for him at SB, so why don't we let him go, no we keep them and let them rot the morale at tge dressing room.

It is a bad judgmsnts from the front office as they are the only continuity in decision making at the club.

AVB's comments today about only needing Romans backing and noone else's , is surely the quickest way to lose the dressing room. If he hasn't already.
For me he just shows his lack of experince far to often.
I think he took the job about 5 years too soon.
He will be a top manager but it won't be at cfc.

Don't be silly. There are so many professionals in that room.

There are so many pro's in that room , what do u mean by that ?
AVB saying " I don't need the players " won't exactly inspire them to give 100% for him will it.
If your boss said to you , I don't really need you to work hard and I don't value your opion , how would you feel? You'd fell under valued and not cared for. Which would resualt in your performance dropping and not being motivated to try harder.
If anything he needs the players more than anyone else.
These are seasoned pros who've been there and done it and he's been in the job 2 minutes. Not to value there opinion just shows up his lack of experince dealing with big names and his arrogance.

I think AVB saying he doesnt need them will atleast give them half a wake up call that no player is bigger than the club. I think over the past couple of seasons a few players believe they are bigger than Chelsea FC. Although as Ed002 has said there is no point reading into AVB's interviews.

Personally I back AVB 100% and think the players that dont back him can play elsewhere next year.

A while ago Ed you posted something about the club considering a change to its management structure. (I'll take a stab in the dark and guess it involves the Director of Football role) Do you think current on and off the pitch anxieties could make this change happen sooner rather than later? {Ed002's Note - We will have to wait and see. I think folks are perhaps making a little too much of the issues at present.}

I dont really like talking about formations but I reckon (and ofcourse I am only playing fantasy football because as good as this site is, i dont reckon AVB checks it daily) playing some sort of diamond formation would suit us best. I am not going to talk about the back 4 but we can play romeu holding with essien and ramires (thank god hes back) in the centre. then mata just behind the strikers and then sturridge and someone else alongside him. although i do think 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 is the best formation, at the moment we just dont have the players for it. hoping for a big summer and to either get mourinho back or for AVB to have full support from everyone, including roman

I know a lot would disagree but here's my team for next season with AVB still in charge:
Cech,Luiz LB,terry,Sakho,VDW,essien,ramires,mata,hazard,falcao,
Robben.
All I think realistic targets, swapping Torres for falcao, hazard £30m,robben not in the good books at bayern at the moment.
Out:kalou,malouda,bosingwa,sturridge(to gready),Turnbull,mikel,merieles
Bench:lukaku,de bruyne,Cahill,cole,lampard,drogba,ivanovic,romeu,courtois

Sakho is not going to leave PSG; who would right now? Robben is not going to come back to Chelsea and Hazard will go to Tottenham if they sell Bale.

I think we are more likely to offer Malouda a three year contract extension than sign half the players on that post.

Oh well, here is a joke to help you cheer up:

What do you call someone who carries ten mugs but no cups?
