Firstly I hope all the ED's and fellow posters are safe and well.
Been thinking about transfer strategy and player comings and goings and I honestly don't see much happening in the short term, and by short term I mean the next year.
I can't see games being played in full or even half full stadiums for some considerable time and the loss of revenue from match days will be considerable. Not many clubs will be able to shell out huge transfer fees and likewise selling clubs will not necessarily want to sell their star players on the cheap unless they have to from a financial viewpoint. let's taken ourselves as an example. And being a topic of recent post use Kante as an example.
He is world class and let's say one of the top sides in Europe wanted him? I really couldn't sell anyone paying the amount of money Chelsea would want and not needing to sell, or indeed even wanting to sell, there is no way we would accept an offer below his perceived current value. Therefore he stays. The same would apply to all the top clubs.
The whole market has been thrown into turmoil and I just can't see to much player movement at the top end due to finacial restraints on clubs. Fortunately we have a very talented young squad and an owner with deep pockets but I do fear for some clubs. If, and of course its a big if, this situation goes on for an extended time and matches end up being played behind closed doors into next season how would that leave clubs who have invested huge sums into huge stadiums which can't be filled?
Would be interested in ED01's opinion in particular. Anyway, just my thoughts. Stay safe everyone.
