I've read a lot of comments on here about promoting this youth player and that. The under 21's have lost last 2 games, I've watched them both. The majority of these guys are not ready by a country mile. Izzy Brown is now a first teamer as is RLC. That will be it next season with hopefully Traore and maybe Ake or Bamford.

{Ed018's Note - yea I've noticed that as well. More so in other places. RLC should be in the first team next season and get some time. To me that's the only one who will get significant minutes. There's a handful that I'm sure will see some time in the cups or at the end of the season but that's it. I can't really see how Ake would even get much time but I could be wrong}

I think Ake could play more minutes. He's very reliable IMO, not a flashy player but he gets it done. I really like him in a defensive midfield role. He moves well and has a good tackle. I was hoping that Mourinho would give him some of Ramires' minutes this season as he could perform a similar role. Of course that didn't happen but I believe he could be a valuable squad member.

Agreed. RLC will see game time next season, probably replace Mikels current role in the squad. Ake has to decide if he's happy with his current role, it's been the same for a while with no evolution, and no sign of evolution in the coming season. Brown will probably have a similar season (game time wise) to what RLC has just had; as will Solanke. Bamford will either get his chance as the third striker or get an EPL loan. They're about the only ones, for me, looking at real 1st team opportunities.

Chalobah and McEachran haven't developed into Chelsea standard players; should move on.

I expect Baker to have a breakthrough season on loan somewhere.

I think Chalobah could play for us, J. He's a quality player, and he'd play even better with other good players around him. Apparently he was great for Reading.

Yeah think it's a touch early to write off Chalobah. He's almost exactly one year older than RLC and I think he could do a fine job of stepping into mikels role.

With recent comments from Koke confirming his desire to stay at Atletico, it looks like CFC will have to fish elsewhere for a top midfielder

Does everyone feel like we will get griezmann?

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2015 13:19:07
Yeah Stanman, I believe we'll get Griezmann as well. Koke does look less likely right now. Hope the club push for Andre Gomes.

I hope so Jackson, a lot of negative reports I don't know what to believe but hopefully we can get him. Would be a great player for Chels.
Andre Gomes would be good too, If not I think schiederlin would be good too.

Highly optimistic Jackson. The player himself has to have a desire to sign for Chelsea.And our club has to pay for that player if he wants to move to Chelsea.
Two years ago MUFC offered much more money to sign Bale and Fabregas, look where both of them ended up.
Koke wants to stay at A.Madrid and that's OK, that's what he wants.
Last summer Griezman decided to stay in Spain and that's OK as well.
We can't force anyone to join us.

Yeah Stanman i'm very hopeful we get Griezmann. Andre Gomes would be a really good alternative to Koke in my opinion. He looks a really dynamic, quality player.

I think we will sign Griezmann for sure. Not sure we need Koke. Jose has today said we will only be looking at a few to improve squad whereas man u, city and pool have to majorly buy to get anywhere near us.

I know it's optimistic, antibot. And I respect Koke for wanting to stay at his team, cudos to him. Yes the player has to want to join us, that's true. But perhaps Gomes could be persuaded. I think he looks an amazing player and I'd rather see him at Chelsea actually than Koke. Koke is a very good player but I've never been really amazed by him. Either player would be great though. I just hope one of them comes.

Like most have said, it seems to be more like when rather than if we get Griezmann, not getting ahead of myself but I really think we will get him.

As for Koke I think he really complements Fabregas and Matic he has a little of both player to in the sense that he is great defensively and has that killer pass, plus when it comes to set pieces he really does deliver, all in all Ed has said it would be difficult getting him and I think what he has said shouldn't be taking to, I think it's only normal for players to come out and say they want to stay.

Ed002 Koke is quoted today as saying he will remain at Athletico next season and Pogba will be very difficult to sign as you have said.
Assuming we don't sign either of those players
who would we look to bring in if anybody?
Many thanks

{Ed002's Note - I have said where there is interest.}

The names ed has mentioned are far-far away from Pogba and Koke level.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - I wouldn't say Andre Gomes is far, far away from those two}

15 May 2015 14:38:38
Andre Gomes is excellent prospect but he neither Pogba or Koke. His asking price is pretty unrealistic.

15 May 2015 16:58:04
Gomes plays in a much better league than Pogba and I feel he has a similar playing style. He plays a little deeper in midfield though than Pogba, and that would actually suit our team better.

15 May 2015 18:01:37
I can agree with the league issue, it is true that it's very difficult to estimate Pogba realistically since he plays in the league which rated lower than championship. But primera division is very different from PL. If some player suits primera division doesn't mean that the same player will accommodate at PL and otherwise.

You're right, antibot. There's no way of knowing for sure how players from La Liga would cope in the Premier League. But Gomes looks like he has some good physical tools. He's tall and moves well. I've tried to watch some more Valencia games the last couple of weeks just to take a look at him. I like him. He's my preference for central midfield, above Koke and Pogba (above Pogba mainly because of money and because I think Pogba would look for a move again after a couple of years). I'd be ecstatic if Gomes joined us. Shame it probably won't happen.

{Ed002's Note - Please try and stop mentioning things like "physical tools". If you want a dating website there are better places to hangout and search for your purple nippled exhaust queen of your dreams than here.}

I'll keep that in mind, Ed.

this might not seem like good buys but if di maria and falcao to be moved on would hchelsea be keen? if not, who would?
