Chalobah isn't in the team please down say he's going on loan, he has been one of best players on pre season.

Latest rumour doing the rounds is cesc to Real Madrid as part of a £60m deal for James.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed091's Note - yeah, thats not going to happen.

16 Aug 2016 00:15:14
Cesc to Madrid is new laziest rumor of the window lol.

16 Aug 2016 09:28:18
Cesc, life long Barcelona fan, left a team he was the captain of to play for his boyhood club.

Yeah, he's going to join Real Madrid. Do the papers really think we are all that thick?

16 Aug 2016 13:25:45
Even if the rumour was true, cesc would be on the bench every week at Madrid.

Loving Conte, loving Kante - and Matic has re-discovered how to play.

We need a second goal.

Passing has been very good in fairness. Hazard had been excellent, his turn of pace is phenomenal. Matic hasn't been great but to be fair he set such a high standard in his first season anything less is deemed average! Costa is looking more and more frustrated and his positioning is off as usual! Iva has been solid at rb! The rest of our defence haven't been tested so hard to judge! Oscar has been good, his passing has been spot on! All in all a very positive 65 minutes compared to last seasons disaster! A decent win in the first game could set the tone of our season! Just look at our first game last season.

That clears up my defence point ha.

16 Aug 2016 09:02:03
What are you talking about matic was head and shoulders the best player on the park along with hazard for the first hour.

15 Aug 2016 20:55:00
Dominant first half but I don't really see any difference to last season. Struggling to create any decent chances and not pressing high up the pitch. Costa constantly looking for that quick pass over the top which is where cesc is needed but on whole we have been by far the better team but just missing a goal.

NWBLUE: I agree with you, not a great deal of difference. Three points against a woefully disappointing West Ham is a plus but still struggling up front and I felt we were content with a 1-0 win and of course the defence gets jittery. We certainly looked sharper and Hazard showed touches of his ability but again I thought he either faded or lost interest before going off and our match winner, Costa walked 'another' fine line between competitiveness and a red card which we cannot keep risking. Of the two new buys Kante looks an asset once he gets used to our style of play and although a cameo role Batshuayi's flick on indicated he could be useful in the air which we desperately need up front.

Few great balls in and are strikers at edge of box like all last year get in the box tap ins he could of had in stead he's stud on wing.

I'm getting nervous about the shape of our squad with the first game of the season coming tonight. 2 good signings in my opinion would be bazoer and riedewald from Ajax. Wouldn't break the bank and both young who could be tutored and taught to play how conte likes to play. Emenalo seems to be controlling transfers and we have signed some terrible plays since he took up that role.

15 Aug 2016 18:15:16
I'm sorry I know we have really been harping on positively lately but I just can't. How can you say you're concerned with the shape of the squad and say we should sign a centermid which is an area who we have too many players at? I could understand if you said we needed a fullback or even a striker with the presumed exit of Remy, but we don't have a need for a midfielder at the moment. Also with Emelano I can't talk about how many times he gets turned into a martyr for the recruitment group. Also people rip on the recent business but one of the favorites of the witch hunt group, djibodji, just got sold for 3 times what we paid. Rant over and apologies for the negativity but this one deserves it.

Give it time wheely mate
Got a good feeling about conte
Seems to do the right things with a smile on his chops I like the feeling around the club everyone seems to be enjoying themselves again a winning mentality doesn't have to be a miserable one
Lets hope for a good start and if not let's hope he can make a difference with new transfers coming in.

Agree1 Disagree1

15 Aug 2016 18:38:15
Wheelycfc old son I'm not worried about that, I'm more worried if they came out with the same attitude as last year.
I don't think they will let that happen again. Only worry for me is that donkey Carroll however bad he is always seems to score against us.
Come on chels.

Wow. been off this site for a few days and look what's happened to us. We are bickering amongst ourselves because we don't agree with each other. let's get back to the good ol days when we used to . er. not agree with each other. :)

For what it's worth I agree with everyone, in as much as, I agree that we all have our own views and preferences as to who plays, who signs, how we play etc. I also agree that people's reactions are a bit blunt and dismissive at times and that's the general catalyst for " banter/ choice words". Personally I enjoy being a sarcastic twat as no. matter what response I get, I tend to have a good little chuckle at my own posts. Da Dublin er will back me on that won't ya pal? Though you had a little silliness in your reply to me you little rascal. I enjoyed it though but not sure wildlife is the correct currency in those parts of deep Italy, but it's more user friendly than the bloody lira for sure, but I think they went for the euro buddy.

So down to business, thinking well have a slow start tonight against a west ham side with a few decent games under their belt already but I think we can nick it. Or we smash the granny out of them and come out all guns blazing. Everything in between is also a fair possibility. Look at me now. I can't even agree with myself. How can I expect you guys to. 😂.

I can confirm he's a sarcastic twit lads 😂 sure look tiz only a bit of banter. Strangely enough I also think we'll smash them tonight. 4-1 Hazard brace. You heard it here first👍.

De Laurentiis still reluctant to sell Koulibaly to Chelsea. When are we going to realise he might not be the player we should be looking at. Great player but why are we risking it for a squad that is already light and now the closest looking season ever has started.

Believable0 Unbelievable5

15 Aug 2016 11:27:13
Problem is who else is there? And if there are others the owners of the team will raise the price up because they know we need a centre back. Unfortunately it's silly money nowadays but if we want to compete we need to stop being tight and pay the money the club asks for.

Agree0 Disagree4

15 Aug 2016 12:29:59
Shkodran? Unsure if he will fit the side completely, but looks competent and wouldn't lose much value should we look to move him on next summer?

Agree0 Disagree3

15 Aug 2016 12:47:22
Possibly a decent alternative. Apparently he is quite similar to cahill (only going by what I've heard) . Still, any centre back signing will be better than what we have now. I just feel the board hasn't learnt anything from last seas.

Agree1 Disagree3

15 Aug 2016 12:50:05
find it odd that you didn't call him mustafi, which is how everybody knows him in football

shkodran is mustafis first name for those who don't know. I had a hunch but had to look it up to make sure.

15 Aug 2016 13:21:36
Apologies, yeah I meant mustafi.

sounded like a rant there, was just pointing it out haha.

15 Aug 2016 14:49:00
Buying for the sake of buying is what caused a lot of our issues last year. If we are going to buy a centrehalf, it should be someone that's an improvement on our current group from day 1. While lindelof might develop into a fine player, he's not as developed as Christensen, and we have a number of young guys who show promise at the position (miazga, tomori, Clarke-salter) .

Agree0 Disagree3

15 Aug 2016 15:31:20
Maybe buying a top quality Left or right back would be a better move. We have terry, Cahill, zouma and ivanovic (who is actually a good player when at CB) .

Agree2 Disagree3

15 Aug 2016 16:01:30
Not a rant, I rarely rant at this stuff cause it isn't my money and Roman has and I believe to always be a great owner who funds the club when needed. We only have to look north east to see an owner running a club trying to make a profit, A club who need a CB and a striker and show no sign of trying to fix their problems, at least in recent windows we have seen to be active.

I wouldn't think buying someone like Mustafi would be the same as buying for the sake of buying, clearly a good defender where Djilobodji and Hector were never going to work out. Baba could still turn out to be a good player, but he isn't doing anything outstanding at the current moment.

TL;DR Never rant as owner genuinely cares and isn't scrimping to make profit. Mustafi better than a hit and hope option.

Agree1 Disagree2

15 Aug 2016 16:22:53
Ivanovic WAS a good player at centre back just like he WAS a good right back. He's past it now and can't play either position to the standard we require. He had one decent game at centre back last season but when he was asked to play their again, him and Cahill formed the single most shaky and uncomfortable partnership in the league.

A new centre back is a must and a new full back is also required, we have very little cover in either position. Ake and Christensen should've stayed as back up but there's nothing we can do about that now.

15 Aug 2016 16:24:46
i meant that my first reply was rant like.

Is it possible that we expect too much from Oscar? There's no doubting that he is inconsistent, will sometimes run a game and at other times you question if he is on the pitch.

He's been at the club for so long that it's easy to forget that he's only 24, a good two to four years off his prime.

He's looked good in pre-season, for what that's worth, and if Conte plays a midfield three I think he'll excell this year alongside Kante and Matic. Selling him would, for me, be a mistake.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

15 Aug 2016 12:56:02
He played in 27 PL games last season and scored 3 goals, he has 1 or 2 good games a season and he under performs in the rest. He has been at Chelsea for four seasons now, so I certainly don't think we expect too much of him.

Agree0 Disagree1

15 Aug 2016 14:56:33
I think it must be noted that in Mourinho's system, he was asked to be a major part of our press which limited his attacking output (and therefore statistics) . You also have to consider that in the premier league many teams play in a low block of 4 defenders and 4 (or more) midfielders which absolutely suffocates the area he operates in. When we consider Oscar, I commonly feel people compare him to Mata's incredible season but people must also acknowledge that Mata contributed nothing defensively and teams defend differently now. I don't particularly have an opinion one way or the other but feel these things must be considered.
