Board are inept, so frustrating as a fan to constantly hear news of chelsea were not willing to pay the money, i understand we are trying to be self sufficient but we are out here acting like we are broke. We can't sort even sort out our managing position due to finances. Tbh i can't see another premier league club take this long to appoint a manager, forget the top 6.

In the end I'm sure we will appoint Sarri and buy a few panic buys.

Shak. Do you know we actually have a Manager? His name is Antonio Conte and not once has the club said he is going to be sacked. It is all speculation and surely you realise that the board, Roman included do have a plan? The fact they choose to remain silent does not mean things are not happening behind the scenes.

We have a manager who doesn't want to stay, a manager who has openly said the club can't match his ambitions which is a fair comment. Of course, he wants his big pay out and won't leave on his own accord as a result.

Our board foreseen the situation and could see it occur and they should have sorted this mess out ages ago. We should not be head hunting a manager for so long, it affects incoming players etc. I hope the board know what they are doing but if I'm honest they are inept, we don't have proper footballing members within the board.

Very reasoned points G8.

Conte is anything but our manager. Everybody knows he's not staying. The board hates him and he hates the board, the only reason this is taking soo long is that the board are reluctant to pay the man off since they despise eachover. They're hoping another team comes along for him so we won't have to pay him but obviously Conte isn't stupid enough to do that. Conte doesn't want to be here as much as the board don't want him here. I have no doubt the board have a "plan" but from what we've seen from them over the past few years fans have every right to be sceptical about thus plan.

Look I wanted this resolved a while ago, I think this is the first time we have had issues getting the manager we wanted. However he does play good football. As long as we make the purchases we need. Another striker and playmaking midfielder. I personally would like to see mason mount with the first team squad this year. I have said it before he is the nearest I have seen to Frank lampard. Style of play and eye for a goal.

This managerial situation has dragged on for too long now (start with the obvious) . We really aren't that far from pre-season for non world cup players and, right now, I can't see anything other than Conte taking that first training session.

There is very, very little coming from the club, from a non commercial point of view, and to be honest, I just want them to acknowledge some sign of clear direction now. Conte staying, Sarri coming in or even going with Blanc - anything! I thought no news was good news, but this silence isn't golden!

Ed001, I'd love to know your opinion on who, as things stand right now, you think we should go for with regards to our manager; or if you think we should stick with Conte.

{Ed001's Note - I think you should go for Jardim. He is happy to be a head coach, which is important. He plays excellent football and he has shown he is capable of beating the odds to win the league, which you need right now, as Man City are stronger.}

14 Jun 2018 06:25:42
Cheers Ed, I like Jardim and would rather him to a lot of the other names we've been linked with. I worry that Liverpool are looking much stronger now too.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am sure we are but City are still likely to be team to beat.}

But surely by now ed our managerial situation must be close to being resolved. fixtures out World Cup starting, this is pretty bad to let it be up in the air still with names being mentioned,

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not sure it really makes much difference to Chelsea as it is a head coach rather than a manager. Signings and sales can go ahead as normal and there is no training to take at the moment.}

14 Jun 2018 13:23:26
Exactly ED01, the voice of reason. It makes very little difference until pre-season training commences. Also, with Roman having these UK Visa issues he might just stick with Conte and save himself a cool 9 million while he finds a buyer for the club. Hope not but it could be a valid reason why no new manager and more importantly Conte still at the helm!

Just a question, Ed001, as I don't know this at all of course. But isn't it possible that targets of the club would be hesitant to sign for Chelsea when they don't know who the coach will be?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - possibly yes.}

14 Jun 2018 19:33:17
I think you'll run City very close this year - has all the makings of a classic fight for the title.

Great point re. the appointment being head coach rather than 'manager' and signings / targets not really being affected.

Is there any news on the potential Director of Football position - or whatever we're going to call Emenalo's replacement?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not that I know of. Everything seems to have been thrown up in the air by Roman's visa problem.}
