Nathan had a very nice goal for Vitesse, hope that's a sign of things to come

Indeed it was a beautiful curler. Hopefully he can keep showing his stuff and start a few games as well.

Great goal, but absolutely awful defending by the other team. They didn't even seem bothered about tackling him. Surely that's not the standard of the Dutch league?

Bit of fun. Who would you promote from the academy to the first team squad this season given the choice? ( you as well ED18). Bear in mind players like Solanke and Ake are on loan and RLC and Aina are already included. Me. Charley Musunda

{Ed018's Note - Boga or Musonda}

15 Aug 2015 01:18:03
I like Musonda just don't think he will have the strength for the premier league. I'm hoping he goes on loan for maybe 2 years so Boga for me.

15 Aug 2015 13:31:19
Musonda is deceptively strong. And he's still young so his strength should keep increasing. Musonda just has to make it, he will be a star wherever he ends up.

Hello lads, I hope you have watched Manchester United game and saw what we have lost in letting Mata go. If we had a player like him now in the team we would have been in completely different level!

Man U have had 3 shots in 2 games - hardly a proud record for a creative midfielder!

Have you seen his passes? Its not his mistake that others fail.

Mata 100% doesn't fit in Jose's system. It's been a year and a half, move on.

So as expected, Jose wasn't made to apologise, there is no bad blood between management and the medical department, both Jon and Eva will most likely make it back onto the bench at some stage this season and this whole thing, as far as Chelsea is concerned is a non issue.

Hopefully we can get back to football now. You'd have to assume the players are fairly relaxed, dealing with no media attention during the build up to Citeh.

{Ed018's Note - exactly. This has been so over blown it's not even funny}

14 Aug 2015 15:46:51
It's the PC nature of huge sections of society making big deals out of little things so they can seem like white knights of the western world, IMO Ed018.

I'm sure all those demanding an official apologie will be licking their wounds. If Eva and Jon can accept the situation, its sad that people with no vested interest throw their toys out the pram.

Out of interest mate, do you know if any has shown an interest in taking Moses off our hands?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed018's Note - last I was told, Moses had no future at Chelsea. Not sure if that's changed}

14 Aug 2015 16:27:24
Was that long ago, Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - maybe a month}

14 Aug 2015 17:02:13
Why would we get rid of Moses, he was one of the few successes of pre season.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - maybe something changed and he'll stay}

15 Aug 2015 20:22:14
I'll be surprised to see if Eva makes it back to the bench.

Jose mentioned that Oscar was a doubt after picking up a slight knock in training, not sure I believe that especially if Oscar is made available as a sub. I don't think he played against City last season as well as in a few other big matches, when available, as we set up more defensively with either Rami, Mikel or Zouma next to Matic on those occasions with Fab playing behind the striker. I have a feeling that's what we're going to see at City, I only hope we press them and don't try to just sit back and counter because they, to me, are the best in the Epl of taking advantage of that. In fact I believe with City's setup it's their favorite way to play with lots of possession and teams backing off and their forward players not having to do much defensively. Last season when we took the match to them we had the lead and in both matches we changed tactics after the half and sat back and conceded. I hoped to see Oscar's next match after a bright start and especially on set pieces but I can understand Jose providing more cover for the central defence as well as Ivan in a tough away match. Thoughts?

If Mikel starts i'm not even going to bother watching the match. Play Willian through the middle, Cuadrado on the right. Sorted.

14 Aug 2015 22:28:04
What has Cuadrado done that would you pick him?!

15 Aug 2015 10:47:04
Much more prefer if RLC and traore played than mikel and cuardaro. Oh boy how much I dislike mikel! And Cuardaro looks like a lost boy in the supermarket each time he is on the pitch

So with Kenedy getting a work permit, what does everyone think will happen with all our wingers/AMs? Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Moses, Traore, Cuadrado and now Kenedy. I can't see all of them staying personally and IMO the odd man out for me is Cuadrado. He hasn't impressed (like at all) and isn't that young anymore where he can still improve a lot. Hopefully we find a buyer, but I'm not confident on that. Think it might result in loaning Traore and/or Kenedy himself, even though Mourinho has said of both players that he wants them to stay.
Opinions, people? You too, Ed :-)

I'm doubtful we will see much of Kenedy this season, Jackson. Pre season is one thing, but playing in England regularly is something very different. He may get a bit of time in the Capital One Cup, but other than that I'd expect him to get less time than RLC last year.

I'd also be surprising if Moses got a lot of minutes. He was a disaster at Liverpool, didn't set the league alight at Stoke, although he had a handful of good games, and although he impressed in pre season, I'd put that down to his desire to play and giving his all, while other players didn't take it too seriously.

If Cuadrado is sold, I'd expect maybe another player to sign, but would prefer Traore and Kenedy to get a chance. As I said I'm doubtful though, and think Pedro would be a serious waste of money.

Jackson: Well done, no mention of Doctors! I agree Cuadrado is the odd man out and I feel Traore would be best served going on loan where he can play in his best position. With Kenedy, Mourinho has said he does not want him on loan and took him to their Montreal training camp when not officially our player; at just under 6' and 12st, looks powerful and could be a useful player to give match experience to this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2015 15:50:42
I seriously hope Mourinho doesn't try and run out Willian, Hazard and Oscar again every week. They looked so tired towards the end of last season. Moses has to give him rotation options as I fear Cuadrado will fail to do so, and hopefully Mourinho will put some faith into Traore. The young guys need to play at least some minutes to improve. Can't spend a whole season on the bench. Training with the first team is obviously helpful but they have to get some time. Early days still.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2015 16:18:59
As above, I don't think Kenedy will see much playing time this year. Hazard, Oscar & Willian are obviously the guys to beat if you want to get into the starting eleven. Behind them at the moment you have Moses and Cuadrado, Moses I think will stay for the season, or at least till January, because of his homegrown status - he'll do alright off the bench, at least he is direct. Cuadrado I think will leave and a replacement will be signed - although I have no idea who. Kenedy and Traore will see similar game time as RLC unless any of their performances, and that of their teammates, warrant more time on the pitch. Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Moses, new signing, Traore and Kenedy. Should be enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2015 08:58:32
It depends totally how Kenedy performs - if he comes on and attacks defenders as he did pre-season there is no reason not to play him. Jose is not stupid, he will know if you're good enough you're old enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2015 20:33:06
I personally would much rather have Kennedy at the club in a sheltered environment than anywhere on loan. A loan wouldn't be a terrible option for traore. The club needs to make decisions on Cuadrado and Moses by the end of January.

14 Aug 2015 01:05:16
As a Chelsea fan and a doctor this whole discussion is stupid.
Jose was p****d that the result, and some decisions, didn't go our way so he deflected as he usually does.
I absolutely love mourinho and he's done it again. how many people are focusing on our stuttering performance?
As for Eva, she did absolutely the right thing. Being a doctor is perhaps the only time when a player can be bigger than a club; it's your duty to do right for your patient, not their employer, so you have to ignore what might be best for the team/club and do your job. It's a shame Eva has been brought into this but maybe that's because Jose knows she can handle it. I hope it doesn't spell the end for her.

14 Aug 2015 06:02:36
Again, and what about the other doctor Jon Fearn? You regret that he will probably have his job altered? Is it a shame that he was "subject to Mourinho's rage"?
Yes Mourinho was pissed off, but apparently his frustration with the medical department has some deeper roots, so to speak. Not just past weekend.

Agree0 Disagree1

14 Aug 2015 06:57:49
Yeah sorry I was referring to the whole medical team involved, just focused on Eva as she seems to be the poster girl of this latest anti Chelsea campaign.
As far as I can see it, both parties have a good point but the furore that often surrounds mourinhos comments has been taken to a new level.
I wish the press would find something constructive to write about, but that's not their game unfortunately

Eds is the Rahman deal ever going to be completed? What's holding it up now?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I wouldn't stress Mrs Costa. Deals don't get done over night. Price was agreed, personal terms have been agreed and he has had, or is due to have a medical in the coming days.

I would only worry if it still isn't announced in the next week. I'm sure it will be though mate
