I actually didn't think there was much in the way of bad overall performances today. I think there was individual mistakes for the first goal and we found ourselves two goals down having not settled back down. A couple of missed opportunities to get back into the game compounded the loss.
We missed the physicality of Rudiger, and we could do with a more physically imposing presence in the middle of the pitch.
Ashley Cole spoke a lot of sense about our performance, and pretty much summed up our season. We lacked swagger, it's something we haven't had all year. I think the confidence of youth that RLC and Hudson-Odoi have will develop into genuine swagger, but they need to experience winning on the big stage. Really hope RLC gets a full pre-season under he belt with no injury issues.

Dazza, my guess is, Drinkwater, Cahill, Zappa, maybe Alonso, Luiz and either Willian or Pedro.
We will probably also sell, Morata, Bakayoko, Michy, Tammy, Aina, Zouma and one or two other loaned players.
I also don’t think we will sign as many as people think.

Nibby absolutely right that Hazard at number 9 seldom works; or putting it another way Hazard much more often looks far better when given extra freedom that playing a proper number 9 allows him. So why neither Higuain or Giroud was trusted to start beats me.
We were unlucky to lose Rudiger, and Hazard could/ normally would have taken his two opportunities to make the game v tight. But once Rudiger forced off I'd have liked Alonso on for Emerson in the second half to make us a bit more solid at the back.
Other thought was that Callum H-O had a very quiet game before being substituted, and seemed a bit over-awed by the occasion. Perhaps for this game at least there was a good case for starting with experience and bringing on youth later?

I hope it works but if my memory is ok I think playing the false nine with hazard has worked maybe 1 time against rubbishty.

I have been critical of Sarri this season, he still doesn't have me convinced. However good performances against Liverpool today and United in a couple of weeks would go a long way to swaying my opinion. Not even wins, just good solid performances, in two big games away from home, but if we can take four points from those two games then I think we'll get top four.
I think at the start of the season most fans would have taken top four and a Europa League trophy.
