Ed, what's the plan for this guy? Do you see him being in the squad next season? Or maybe just training with us from now until pre season then being assessed? Thanks

{Ed002's Note - Neither.}

I am the only chelsea fan who thinks koke is not good enough to play for our club. He's a decent player but would he give us anything we do not have, I don't think he would. Also he's not going to be cheap so I hope this one doesn't happen. Pogba is the one, even if it costs oscar plus £50m.

I don't see the craze with him. I'd prefer Gomes because of his physicality but I'd also like to see us go for Vidal, a complete midfielder.

{Ed018's Note - no Vidal for me. Get one of these guys in there early 20's}

Vidal's 28 next month. Perfect stop gap till we can bring RLC in to the starting XI.

{Ed018's Note - there's no interest in Vidal, so that plan doesn't work}

Haha that's fine Ed. Things change quickly in football as we seen with Fabregas.

{Ed018's Note - yea they do}

I'd pass on Vidal as well. I've read that he hasn't returned to the level of football he displayed before his injury.
I'll admit that Koke wasn't particularly special today, but it was a hard game for an attacking player in Atletico's team. Griezmann for example is a very good player IMO but he didn't look very spectacular either today. Maybe we shouldn't judge too quickly (though if you based your opinion on a couple of games and not just tonight then fair enough).
I'd be delighted with Gomes or Koke. Pogba, I just don't see him joining.

He was motm tonight and has been getting back to his best lately. And if the rumours of him are true that they may look to sell him for less than 20 million then it would be a bargain.

Koke had an off game tonight he's passing was all over the place but R Madrid pressed high all game & didn't give them any time on the ball, I think he would be a top player for us, played with Costa as well so their link up play could be key! Mourinho is a big fan apparently so I'll trust he's judgement if we decide to go for him

If it was last summer I'd have taken Vidal, now no. Personally I'd stay well clear of anyone who's had a major injury recently.

FFS Atletico Madrid played vs Real Madrid with Kroos,Modric and Rodriguez in midfield and Ronaldo, Benzema and Bale as strikers.
They've managed to outplay Real during second half.
What do you think how many teams would manage to confront mighty Real Madrid?

Koke's form this year hasn't been great. In all honesty I don't see what he gives us that Fabregas doesn't.

I just don't think he adds something entirely different which we don't already have (unlike pogb and Gomes). The fact that he usually plays wide scares me as i'm sure he could adapt centrally but I would rather that adaptation not happen here. Then while he is more mobile than Fabregas, I'm not sure he's a better tackler and I'm sure Fabregas has better positioning defensively as he's played in the system for a year. So as others said I'm not sure how he makes us a much better team and he isn't worth sacrificing a player like Oscar for. I also don't get the people saying buying another mid will block RLC. I don't think its a matter of coincidence that all three of our midfielders have declined as the season progressed. Bringing in another midfielder will increase our depth and prevent the massive dropoff we've seen with Fabregas and Oscar especially.

I definitely agree with you on that last part. We need a 3rd elite option in central midfield so the form of Matic, Fabregas and Oscar doesn't drop off massively towards the end of the season. Some more rotation is needed but I can't blame Mourinho for not fully trusting Ramires and Mikel has been injured. Get another elite option in and try to give RLC some games next season. 3 world class options with RLC and Mikel/Ake/Chalobah as cover would be enough IMO.
I'm actually really hoping for Gomes to join us, but I've got a bad feeling about it. With him saying he wants to stay at Valencia next season it doesn't seem likely.

I'm very Exited for Solanke, I feel he has the highest ceiling out of all our youth. Izzy Brown is also immensely talented as is Colkett , Boga, Musonda, RLC and a lot of others.

I don't rate Christensen very much however

Up the Blues!

I was a bit disappointed with his finishing yesterday though :-P on another day he could've definitely had a hattrick hahah
In all seriousness, all those you mentioned have high ceilings IMO. They probably won't all reach their full potential, but if a couple of them do it as Chelsea players it'll make me very happy! Exciting times ahead.

We definitely have a very promising youth, the other question is just how many of them can cut it at the highest level?

Agree0 Disagree2

14 Apr 2015 12:27:39
Just opinion but I don't think it's a question if they can cut it. I think it's more will they be given a chance.

look at Cresswell for example of West ham would never been given a chance at any of the top 4 clubs, but looks a decent premiership player. Only 2 million. Now we are being linked with him.

The problem is if we give our youth a chance and we don't win anything . guess who going to get the blame the manager. I personal think mourinho can't afford not to win anything because u know wht we are like with managers He would get the boot.
I'd like to see our youngster come through can only help England for future world cups etc.

That is the reason why I want our youngsters to get a loan, so they can get some experience and show their capabilities

Just watched a highlight video and you're right, Aron, Colkett as well as crazy talented! He probably flies a bit under the radar due to his playing style but the boy can play. He's got some quick feet to go along with his smart passing. God those U19's are insanely good!
