Higuian to Chelsea?

I've had a bit of stick on here for reminding my fellow posters how good and important Willian is to our team. Tonight the Chelsea players voted him PLAYERS PLAYER OF THE YEAR. with all respect to you guys i think the professional players know a bit more about a player and his ability than you do. All banter of course, but he is so important to us and will be moving forward as well.

Our fellow Chelsea supporters also voted Willian fans player of the year. Now i'm Mathew Harding Upper and everyone loves him. i simply don't understand why 3 or 4 on here don't rate him? Chelsea fans?

Just because no one agrees with you all the time doesn't make you right. Willian has been poor second half of the season and he's only won the award for scoring a few important free kicks. But from open play he's been his average self apart from his work ethic.

I think what people are getting at is that if we move to 4-3-3 we need the front three able to contribute goals and I don't thing Willian can do that consistently especially from open play and that's why if a 50million offer came in from a Chinese club i'd sell him and then try and sign a game changer I. e Griezmann. By losing Willian's energy we can add that extra body centrally like Nainggolan if he signs who can cover plenty of ground to make up for it. We all love Willian what we're getting at is that we don't thing he'll improve so why not sell him on for someone better.

I wouldn't say people don't rate him his problem is he's an attacker and in his best season in a Chelsea shirt he's come up with 11 goals and 7 assists in all competitions that isn't good enough mate 5 pl goals in 38games from our player of the year says it all about our season . i love willian for his work rate and desire but I still feel he isn't offering what he is capable of that's just a personal opinion on him I can't fault him for effort and work rate but as I said he doesn't score or assist enough from an attack point of view a top player on the wager he's on u should expect 10 goals plus in perm and at least 10 assists or close to it out of 38 games.

To have a team not every player needs to be scoring lots of goals, he works hard, spreads the game and terrifies defenders one on one. Other successful teams have attacking players who don't necessarily score goals but are good for the balance of the team, take albrighton or even iniesta as examples of this, and the fact you believe that he was only voted player of the year because of some free kicks is laughable.

Willian is a good player and deserved poty. Just shows our season though .

He's player of the season because nobody else was at an acceptable level to be fair. He was good first half of the season, but his form's come crashing down the past couple of weeks.
If Zouma didn't get injured that badly, then he'd have been my player of the season.

Let's face it it wasn't hard to win it was it! He needs to up his game again next season.

What's everyone's thoughts on what balague said about higiaun seriously considering Chelsea . Edds is there a good chance of this deal happening or is it again a case of sky deciding Chelsea are interested and that been the end of it like they did with Menolas naingollan and pjanic.

What are people's thoughts on Marco Van Ginkel. I know it's the Dutch league but he seems to be becoming a very good player. If we can't sign Nainggolan for the box to box role is it worth giving Van Ginkel a shot? He's a similar type of player.

Mate he couldn't hold a place down at Stoke infront of Glenn whealen that says it all.

Cracking news about Terry hopefully he signs and stays one more year. We still need to bring in a top class centre half to partner Zouma but I think JT will be happy to rotate as third choice.

Anyway guillem 'knows nothing' balague seems to think Higuain to us is a real possibility with Costa happy to move back to Atletico do you know anything Ed?

I think it will look bad on him if he doesn't sign it.

JT offered one year deal, why has it taken the club this long?
I'm happy if he stays but the situation is similar with fabregas, who have to have the correct players around him for his game to work.
He is probably the best centre half in the league positionally but he lacks any sort of pace.
Personally I would like a more mobile centre back, someone like varane to play along side zouma.
Regardless of his playing time, I really hope terry stays until the end of his career and moves into the backroom staff, who knows one day maybe even manager!

Very pleased and agree with you although he has not accepted whatever the deal is. His reading of a situation and positional play is excellent and more importantly his defence management is invaluable especially when alongside Cahill who really needs managing. If you look at his matches this year, with Ivanovic and certainly Rahman playing he has been pulled out of position so many times trying to cover it has made him look like a player in fast decline which I do not think he is. When out of position allied to his lack of pace he tends to lunge into his tackles and leaves himself vulnerable to a booking.

Offered it to him this late at a much smaller wage probably? Can't negotiate much with it being so close to his current one expiring. Well played Chelsea in my eyes. Can't keep a rotation player on wages of £150,000 + on the bench. May as well move them on and save the money.

I would agree if terry wants to stay then he needs to understand he probably will not be first choice and certainly needs to take a wage decrease. I think the club need to think long and hard on this one as drogba and lampard I think left a year too early. Also going on this seasons performances then most of the team should go but I still think terry has a role to play at Chelsea, so on that note I hope he stays.

Obviously excellent if he stays around the club and 'if' the opportunity involves the U19s/ U21s even better. Ideal opportunity to gain management experience working with the existing team and perfect for helping the top youngsters bridge the youth-EPL gap. As many would have read yesterday, Loftus-Cheek who is powerfully built said he was surprised how physical the EPL is compared to what he was used to. Terry's influence might stop the guys with potential demanding big pay contracts before they are ready.

any talk on terry? heard a lot about his speeches at tonights awards being put off by the club, a good sign surely? no goodbye.

{Ed002's Note - As I have explained, there won't be any discussion until the end of the season.}
