Stones and Marquinhos interest seems to be going around again the last few days. Both young quality centre backs who would both improve us I think.

Question is who would you rather and why? I'm struggling to make a decision but I'd possibly lean towards Stones because he's English and would be more suited to the premier league.

I'll go for both if possible but Stones comes first for me as we all know how good he is.

I think we can get both, marquinhos has a little of ivanovic in his hay day and could really play the Rb position quite well and more than a decent back up at the cb position. We could have

Marquinhos Stones Zouma Azpilicueta

Not bad I say.

No balance going forward in the back four ELI. Waste of time signing Baba if we're not going to play him.

i don't know why we are forgetting our £17m left back baba!

That's tough. I feel if we weren't an English team than Marquinhos would be the answer but since we are it might be Stones. Also think Stones complements Zouma nicely as he's very adept at playing out from the back. Both have the potential to be top drawer.

I'd welcome both of them with open arms. Maybe a slight edge towards Stones as he's homegrown. On the other hand, Marquinhos has plenty experience in CL so that's a plus. Some might say he's too short to play CB, but apparently he handles himself pretty well physically on the pitch and Carvalho wasn't the tallest CB either, yet he's one of the best I've seen.
So yeah, it's a toss up for me.

ability is one thing, however there are two other things that set some players apart from others and that is passion and desire. Cannavaro is a shortarse but got player of the tournament at a world cup. Size isn't everything(i keep telling my partner that too)it's about what you offer and give to the team. Agree with tk, stones for me and also agree with jackson re carvalho. The english league is now about pace and jt, whilst he can read a game exceptionally and is a great leader is now no longer good enough, same with ivanovich. Can't carry players anymore at our level in this league.

Alright ed?

Do you think the problems caused over the summer with regards to the Stones deal will prevent a deal being agreed in the future?

Don't know whether Everton will go back on the statement they put out and still sell him.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any problems caused this summer.}

No worries Ed. just with all the nonsense Martinez was going on about. It would be strange for them to sell him now.

{Ed002's Note - Why?}

When Kenwright came out and made a statement he said the money doesn't matter they won't sell there top players basically. It would take an offer of at least 40 million for them to even consider selling surely.

{Ed002's Note - I wouldn't pay too much heed to anything like that.}

Cheers Ed I was unsure on Marquinhos at first when I seen he was only 6ft but then I remembered Ricky Carvalho was only 5ft 11 and he was one of the best centre backs I've ever seen.
