We should go for sane, looked miserable on the bench today,

Every player on the bench should look miserable but some don’t.

I’m not a big fan of Sane or Jesus!

Well yes, if Eden is sold he'd be a great replacement. But I highly doubt we'd come anywhere near the money City would ask for.

Matt, you do know we have a transfer ban don't you? We also have CHO and Pulisic? If Hazard goes, not sure he will though, where does Sane go? the bench! We also have Willian and Pedro. We need to strengthen, but not in those areas.

CAS will lift ban while appealing, I’m sure of it.

When will CAS listen to the appeal is the question Matt? Maybe after the transfer deadline.

Although I think Sane is unobtainable he would be perfect and he's epl proven. I think we should be going all in for Pepe as we need goals. While I understand your sentiment G8, CHO is currently recovering from a serious injury and won't be available for the start of next season and we have no idea if he'll return as the same player he was before the injury. Pedro and Willian are good squad players but are simply not starting material anymore if we want to consistently challenge for titles, especially with Hazard leaving. Just look at yesterday's game for evidence. If the transfer ban is frozen and that's a big if I'd be going for Jovic, Pepe and another midfielder who can chip in goals and rotate with RLC, Kante and Jorginho. As much as I'd love it to be Mount I don't think he's quiet ready for the step up as yet. Going to be an interesting few months ahead either way, never a dull moment at Chelsea.

Said it messed for months. Sane, CHO and Pulisic and we would be set for years. Use Pedro as 4th choice.

I believe Pedro will also be leaving and going to Milan although that might have changed. Which would leave us with Pulisic, Willian and an injured CHO. With both Willian and CHO on their last year of their contract.
It’s a really tough choice as to whether we sign another wide forward/ winger. We could muddle by with Pulisic and Willian until CHO isn't injured but then we’ll still be a bit lightweight. But if we buy someone it’ll likely push CHO down the pecking order and he’ll not sign a new contract.

Zappacosta showed today what Chelsea lack for Sarri's system to work. Zappacosta is very good bursting forward.

I am not saying Zappacosta or Emerson are what we need going forward but good wingbacks who can attack and defend will make Sarri's style work.

Reece James would seem a perfect fit.

MDW I agree. I hope Reece James turns out to be the player we needed since Ashley Cole.

Zappacosta and Emerson aren’t great at the attacking end but they do overlap and show good energy. I was at the game and thought Zappa did well.

Cup competitions are not always accurate, one bad game or a bit of luck and things change. The league doesn't, beat team wins it worst relegated. ONLY MAN CITY AND LIVERPOOL were better than us, let that sink in, well. Done Chelsea this season on 3rd place.

I want to say well done to Sarri and his boys.

You are perfectly correct Matt, cup competitions can favour luck.

I could point out Spurs record in this seasons Champions League and I also remember how unlucky we were against Barcelona, Liverpool and Utd but then we were a tad fortunate against Bayern.

I’m happy to back in the Champions League. I’m just looking at this season as work in progress!

How bad were Willian and Pedro today! Willian looks like he has lost a yard of pace at least and Pedro should never ever be in the starting eleven. Regardless of whether or not we have a transfer ban, please please please can we move on from Willian and Pedro.

It's just tired legs . We played compact and well.

Don't slate. 3rd place is good . Now we got to work on cutting down the difference between the top 2 teams and us.

Today is not a day to dig players out.

I think most rational supporters would have taken a Champions League spot and two finals at the start of Sarri’s first season in charge.

I do have some concerns about next season but I will wait until this season ends and also see what sort of window we have but as I’ve said before, I do not expect many signings.

Can't say that I agree that they were that bad. Also, Pedro has been quite decent for us this season and scored some important goals. I think he's a fine option to have!

Let's just enjoy the summer knowing we finished 3rd and could yet win the Europa League.

However, like Tom I have concerns for next season. Big concerns. Hopefully Pulisic, Zouma, Batshuayi, Aina and James can br the new signings for next season.

This is the first time I’ve posted for years, but feel I should put some perspective in about our transfer ban. For everyone commenting asking if our ban can be overturned and if we can use this window during an appeal. I feel that we have been banned for a reason. To me it seems obvious we have committed several offences, and not for the first time. I think we deserve to have this ban, and the club should actually learn their lesson this time. We have a brilliant squad of players. Not in Man City’s class or Liverpool’s but with the squad we have we can easily achieve top 4 and going some distance in Europe if we use the correct tactics for each opponent and get a bit of luck along the way too.

We do need a striker, but that’s the fault of the club for getting banned and not getting the correct long term recruitment in place.

I’m really confident in our youth and most of the current first team, but we need to get behind the boys and not slag them off after they’ve had a bad game.

This season 2 finals and top 4 without really spending a huge amount is an incredible achievement and with stability we should be able to build on this. Maybe we need this ban. just saying.

Welcome Dave to our sometimes happy forum.

I’m not happy with the presumption of our guilt. I will wait until the appeals process is finalised before I make any comments on our clubs behaviour. Although with so many things we have been found to have done it’s hard to imagine we aren’t guilty of at least one of them.

I agree about our need for a quality striker and I am confident the club will be signing one ASAP.

We do have some talented youngsters on the brink of a first team breakthrough. I think the fans will understand that young players form can be a little bit erratic.

For me, I’m really pleased with the season. We certainly haven’t been consistent but Sarri should IMO be congratulated on his first season as manager and I truly believe we will see more improvements next season.

The team selection today will be very interesting and I hope one ore maybe two players will make their first team debut today.

COME on my MIGHTY BLUES.

Good posts both.

I tend to agree that Sarri has done well and I think that critics are probably being impatient.

Sarri has implied strongly that he's staying at Chelsea (or at least in England) and along with qualification for the CL I think that a delay on the ban will see us in a much better position than if we miss the next two windows.

Let's sign players whilst we're in a position of (relative) strength and back the manager.

*dreams of Jovic*.
