RDM rightly said Mikel does a 'thankless task'. But I'm not surprised, that's hw Makalele was hated at Real b4 he joined Chelsea. Some pple are just that way.

Essien three years ago sounds about right, but nowhere near essien 6 years ago!

Ive never liked mikel as a footballer, he can't head, doesn't read the game well, his sluggish jogs, his lack of goals, terrible first touch. at the end of the day he's our defensive midfielder & he does a terrible job. if he wins the ball he holds onto it for too long, by this time all our players are marked out the game.

I would have to agree with all of that. Regardless of how much potential or ability he has we can only judge on his performances for us over many years which just have not been up to scratch for a team that has ambitions of challenging for trophies.
