Big win Today, grinding out results while not at your best wins titles. Great to see Fabregas score as well. Add Varanne, Koke, Costa and Icardi ( all chelsea targets and not fantasy stuff ), plus a back up keeper together with RLC and hopefully, Bertrand Traore and we move alongside Bayern, Real and Barca in my opinion.

Don't want Douglas costa he's not a game changer. The only way we'll get alongside them is if we can get a midfielder who can shoot from outside the box (Andre Gomes, Loftus-Cheek) and a world class RW like Bale. Although I still think Cuadrado's our man. Fellaini and Mata are prime examples of if you don't play then when you do get a chance you don't play as well.

Agree with you Ed018, supercesc yes we do need Koke or Gomes one of them two would be great. Schneiderlin is really good but we aren't interested, a shame but it's as simple as that plus Koke offers more and would really compliment Matic and Fabregas. I do however think we should look at home grown players for our back up striker if Remy were to leave. Charlie Austin would be great.

Agree with some points there ELI. I don't want a koke or Pogba someone who would stop RLC progressing because as other may not I think he is good enough to play next season in a midfield three with Matic and Fabregas. I agree about homegrown players that's why RLC should play. Austin or Ings for me if Remy leaves.

{Ed018's Note - what has RLC done that makes you think he is good enough to be a regular starter next season?}
12 Apr 2015 23:33:03
I'd take the risk especially on a powerful and technically gifted player. He's the missing link for us just needs faith and experience.
What has Ramires and Mikel done over the past two years to make them starters before Matic and Fabregas joined the club?

WelshChels you seem VERY pro Loftus cheek
He's a youngster, let's give him time :)

I understand what you mean aron. But I've watched Loftus-Cheek a lot on Chelsea TV and he is a fantastic talent. His u19's game for England was his best game I've seen him play against Italy watch it on YouTube. he's got it now I think to start playing. I don't want to see us make the same mistake United did with Pogba and I know it's a big statement but I just hope we win the league soon. I'm not one of them who wants to see us spend 50+ million on Pogba.

I think he's capable of coming into the team and having the same impact as Jordan Ibe but in midfield.

I do agree with you no would bring in a quality mid to replace Mikel and Ramires and have Ake and RLC there if it was me.
5 players for 2 positions

Would much more prefer if either ake or RLC get a good loan tonpkay whole seasin for some team and get a game time.

Lrdit, that's the exact reason they won't make it with your negativity and people wanting them to go out on loan. Players like Colkett and Christensen would benefit from a loan whereas I think RLC and Izzy Brown wouldn't.

13 Apr 2015 16:08:32
I agree with LRDIT, you can't expect Rlc to come in & have the quality required to be a regular starter or regular sub without any experience at the top level! We would all like to see him get into the first team but other players come before him I'm afraid. He needs a loan with a premier league team for development & experience in big games

Welsh why you think I am negative? So do prefer the lad to sit on the bench and scrap few minutes from time to time like mikel does? Or do you prefer hom playing regularly for someone like Leicester or any other smaller team in PL?

Also to add to my point, I said that I don't mind one of Ake or RLC staying but I believe that if both would stay they would be just wasted

I'd like to mention that Cahill had a very good game today. He's never going to be a great defender but he's good. If next year we add the extra pace with Zouma to the team do we need Varane? Cahills decent as back up and he's homegrown. I'd prefer to see us sign another midfielder first as back up and play alongside Matic in Schneiderlin and a quality RW who has a good workrate like Bale (Unlikely). Fabregas and Matic is a good combination we just need that extra dynamism in big games. Loftus-Cheek is good enough now I feel and there's no need for a Gomes, Koke, Pogba.

{Ed018's Note - yes we need Varane. John Terry can't play forever, and with Zouma and Varane you have your 2 starting center backs for the next 7-10 seasons}
12 Apr 2015 21:36:13
We definitely need Varane. As Ed said, Terry can't play forever. We need someone special to replace him in the squad and Varane could certainly be that special player.
Ramires clearly isn't playing well and doesn't fit the style of football we're trying to play. So I'd like one of Gomes, Koke or Pogba to come in. Either one of those 3 would be a fantastic addition.
Traore is good enough IMO to contribute to the 1st team right now, I really want to see him back at the club.

We really need Oscar on the pitch. The team looked lost without him.
Agree0

{Ed018's Note - Oscar has surely been out of form for a while but he should always be out there before Ramires}
12 Apr 2015 16:32:17
That was a massive result. Remys absence really hurt us since they have fast centre halfs and drogba never threatened to get in behind. This in turn allowed them to press very high up the pitch and made it tough to play on the ground. got to say that Matic and Fabregas not getting booked is huge with the two games coming up. Also if I could have one team get relegated it would be qpr as they always give us a game.

Exactly my thinking, Ed. Yes he's been out of form, but he still adds a whole lot more to the team than Ramires right now.

I agree with both of you, but I also thought that Ramires didn't contribute anything today. And he hasn't been playing well this season. Maybe it's time to move him on during the summer. He doesn't fit a possession style game.

{Ed018's Note - Ramires did nothing today like most matches he plays in}

I'd move Hazard central and bring Brown on for Fab and play him wide, height and pace!!

12 Apr 2015 16:00:48
Surely you didn't think Mourinho would bring Brown on? :-P
I was actually thinking that he couldn't have been any worse than Drogba. We just kicked the ball upfield in Drogba's vicinity, maybe we would've played better with Brown up front, some more interplay as Brown is much more mobile.
Hope to see him play in the Uefa youth cup final tomorrow :)

We can talk about Oscar's drop in form all we want but for me the last 5 matches or so Fabregas has been worse, even his set pieces and corner kicks have been crap and he won't even look at the goal to take a shot when he has it.

I agree and I've stated it before as well. Fabregas has not been playing well. Again today. Our offense is lost. we just lump it forward, no good interplay whatsoever. Something needs to change or we'll drop some valuable points today.

Remy injured at the worst possible time so it's Drogba starting. That's not good. Also Ramires on the pitch so I'm getting slightly worried about today.
Also if Remy can't play next weekend then we can forget about winning against United :(
Hope we can power through this one. Up the Blues!

{Ed018's Note - got to hope Drogba is able to contribute something. He has been pretty poor as of late.}

Surprised to see izzy brown he only played 90 minutes in Switzerland two days ago. Come on Chelsea although I'm not confident.

12 Apr 2015 13:16:17
Yeah, tell me about it. I thought he was decent in the early part of the season but whenever he plays now he does almost nothing. The whole team pressing is also very weak when Drogba is 'leading' it. This won't be easy.
