Varane has signed a new contract at Real until 2020. Shame. By far the best young centre-back in the world. Could have been a great addition.

Varane won't be a chelsea player any time soon as he has just signed an contract extension untill 2020.

Pretty sure Bale signed a new contract a few months before leaving for RM, means nothing

As much as Fabregas is creative, he can't defend. Jose will see this and start playing him higher up. I can't believe I'm going to write this but maybe a Matic and MIKEL defensive two?!

I think given a bit more freedom to attack, Mikel could be a really useful player next to Matic. I think they could work well together against the 'bigger' sides.

Ed, are you able to say which player would possibly be offered in exchange? I would hazard a guess at Ramires.

Think the main reason were conceding goals this season is because ivanovic's is getting way too far up the pitch attacking and getting caught out he needs to restrain himself against city or we will pay for it I wouldn't mind seeing azpi rb and Luis LB to give ivan a break.

Nowt to do with ivanovic being to far up the pitch , for me the problem is the middle of the the park, finding someone to play next to matic , fab needs abit more discipline to play there but I'd play him in the 10 anyway. Ramires best other option, shouldn't of taken him off last night. His passing ain't all that but he puts himself about and breaks a lot up.

It's easy being wise after the event when saying Didier shouldn't have started - it was worth a shout.
However, some of the chances he missed would have been food and drink to Remy (assuming Jose didn't want to risk Costa). Jose should have taken Didier off much earlier than he did.

I personally feel ivanovic although solid has been at fault for quite a few goals this season.i really wanna see azpilicueta and luis play at the back together. Other than that I think a few more games into the season and well be holding teams out. Onto the drogba thing, I don't get signing a 36 year old, or even starting him when remy was on the bench. Drogba looked poor in every aspect of the game. It's alright saying he needs some running in time. But Jose shouldn't do it in such a big competition.
