I understand that Hazard and Willian are great at getting past players from a standing start and it's a big part of their games, but I felt tonight that they were doing it way too often. It slowed down our play and allowed Everton to get back into shape far too often in my opinion.

Willian again gave 100%. much better in the centre att mid position!
Unlucky not to score more goals tonight . They defended the whole game.
Howard had a good game kept thm init to be honest!
Zouma was impressive again. what a beast! Kept Lukaku quiet.
Zouma was awesome again! He's playing very very well right now, great to see :)
And is there a superlative that does Matic any justice? He was amazing tonight IMO! Was everywhere to cover and really tried to help out in attack as well. Class player and one of the best central mids in the world no doubt.
Agreed - Willian is better than Oscar in the central role.

You have decided it after one game? That william is better?
11 Feb 2015 21:54:56
Just broke me bed but it was worth it even if it was lucky. Willian centrally is much better his shooting is a lot more accurate in the middle to and I thought that before the goal. Cuadrado looked shy but a couple of really classy moments he will be awesome no doubt the more he plays. Cuadrado - Willian - Hazard could be our best trio with the most balance. Matic and Zouma were also beasts tonight. Azpilicueta = unsung hero. Nothing gets past the lad.
Good post man :)
The whole team in was fantastic tonight! No weak spots.

I've said it consistently on here, Willian is awesome and is a no.10. .
Thought he had a great game, and not just because he scored. He was going past players regularly through the middle, looked lively.
Hugely important goal as well, my god we needed it.
And full credit to Cech, his save was out of this world. Don't know if this is premature, but it could definitely be save of the season! How he managed to keep that out is beyond me, just fantastic.
{Ed018's Note - easily one of Willians best matches. Was very pleased with him today}

I thought he held up play a lot, but did work very hard. His closing down has been tame, and why doesn't he run into the acres of space when he has the chance? But good goal even with the little deflection. Shout out to matic though!!
He was superb. It does go to show that he's not a RW though. There were one or two times when he kept hold of the ball too long but that's just nitpicking.
11 Feb 2015 22:07:03
It would be really hard to drop him now. Courtois's the future so it's going to be a difficult call.
Edd18 willian look for comfortable in the number 10 role.
Guadrado will need time but looked very good tonight. He's more direct than schurrle, whts need from a winger.
{Ed018's Note - yea Cuadrado will be just fine. Alittle tentative at times but you can see much more skillful than Schurrle and very direct. It'll be interesting to see if Willian gets some more chances in that 10 role.}
Ed018 Cuadrado is a midfielder and Schurrle is a striker it is natural that Cuadrado fits better in to this system Mourinho is forcing.
{Ed018's Note - whatever you say}

pretty decent first half. Need to fashion some better chances though, with only 2 shots on target out of 11.
The longer this one stays at 0-0, the more I get the feeling they'll be the team to nick a goal. We just have to score.
Such a massive relief! The yellow cards in the melee seemed random. The commentators harped on about Ivanovic apparently having his hands on Stones throat, but didn't seem like anything for me.
To be fair, he did grab Stones but there wasn't much to it. They sure were getting fired up though :)
Yeah he did grab him. It was more of an arm round the throat than a hand/strangle. It looked more like he was trying to pull him away not actually attack him.
That's what I thought as well, fuser :)
Okay just saw it again, and it was a hand. my bad. think he'll get a ban depending on how much media coverage it gets.

Been very impressed with both ramires and matic in midfield. Willian and Hazard have both been excellent just need that goal. Cuadrado I thought had a bit of a cautious start, looked like he didn't want to lose the ball but I wanted to see him take the player on a bit more. Remy perhaps could have passed on a few occasions. BT sport commentators acting like Everton have won the game haha
11 Feb 2015 18:57:46
Hmmm interesting, Oscar didn't even make the bench for tonight. I don't think there's anything to it, but still a bit weird.
11 Feb 2015 19:22:38
He has a slight injury
Surprised Cech starts. Cuad, Will and Hazard starting as our AM's so we'll see how they do.
Oh ok

Double standards
Costa stamps on Can, and it gets publicised epicly and yet make a column called 'Costa Crimes', 3 match ban.
RVP intentionally elbows Tomkins in the face, no coverage of it anywhere, no ban.
Pardew lightly headbutts Meyler in the face, like a 6+ game ban or something ridiculous.
Pearson literally chokes a player on the ground. Not publicised and no ban.
FA are a bunch of muppets.
Though your right mate, I do however feel Pardew deserved what he got, like you said the way the press and analysts took on Costa stamp was so shocking I swear if I didn't see the game I would've thought he brought wrench and broke Cans legs. Maybe he did deserve the three match nan cause there is no place for that in the game but ffs the press where making too much out of it. I saw the van persie the man didn't even get a yellow card? Nothing happened it's all crap and to be honest If the governing body aren't capable of making decisions worth while I have to lean towards what Jose said about some sort of campaign.
11 Feb 2015 13:35:10
Agreed.
Fully agreed, ELI. I believe Pardew deserved the ban, but it's shocking that Pearson got nothing. Same thing regarding Costa. The media coverage was insane, truly unbelievable. Then when Van Persie throws an elbow (and I think you could make a better case that the elbow was intentional than was the case with Costa's stamp) and he gets a little chat with the ref. Ridiculous.
11 Feb 2015 17:32:59
The issue is with the system. The only way the FA can touch it is if the ref has absolutely no idea it happened. They don't want to correct refs that see something and fail to act on it because that would imply that the refs make mistakes (I know crazy.) This rule is an absolute joke and leads to these kinds of situations where they point to poor legislation as the reason when they're the ones that write the legislation they're complaining about.
