hey ed, was just reading an article on the chelsea website, AVB saying that he won't be making a bid for modric because essien is returning soon. how much longer will essien be out for ? and if they do make a bid for a midfielder who do you think it will be ? {Ed002's Note - Essien is back in training already, however the club are very keen that he is not selected for the African Cup of Nations. Perhaps he will be available for the first team by the end of January or so.}

Milan set to offer Pato or Robinho to Chelsea if Italian giants capture Tevez

Chelsea will be offered Alexandre Pato or Robinho in the January transfer window - if AC Milan are successful in luring Carlos Tevez to the San Siro.

The Serie A giants will allow one of their Brazilian forwards to leave the club and both have been targets for the Blues in the past.

Chelsea look set to be short in the striking department with Nicolas Anelka joining Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua.

Chelsea bound? Pato (right) or Robinho could leave AC Milan

There are also lingering doubts over the futures of Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou.

And, according to the Daily Star on Sunday, Milan will offer Pato for around £40million while Robinho, who left Manchester City for Italy last year, could also be available.

In demand: Newcastle's Cheick Tiote

The Tevez situation remains deadlocked – Milan want him on loan while City are after a permanent deal. But that could change if Milan bring in big money through selling Pato or Robinho.

Tevez has also been linked with PSG who have agreed a fee of £21m and Juventus, who look set to follow suit.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly on the verge of signing Cheick Tiote from Newcastle for £20m.

Representatives of the Ivory Coast star met with Blues officials last Friday to thrash out a deal.

The defensive midfielder is currently sidelined through injury but has long been a target for Chelsea.

Boss Andre Villas-Boas is keen to complete the move in the January transfer window as he rebuilds his squad following an indifferent start to his revaluation

ED are these stories about tiote meeting with Chelsea officials true?
Thanks ED

Hey Ed, do you know who decided to buy and had the major influence in bringing Daniel Sturridge to the club from City?

Thanks Ed. {Ed002's Note - At a guess it would likely have been Frank Arnesen.}
