Chelsea's midfielders don't score goals.

Half time at Huddersfield. 2-0 up. Kante and Jorginho.

tbh I don't see JORGINHO scoring to many. due HAZARD being our number one penalty taker and JORGINHO plays very deep.

12 Aug 2018 10:05:45
Agreed on Jorginho, can't see him scoring many to be honest. As for Kante, he's scored 1 goal in each of his full seasons in the Premier League, hopefully with him getting his first so early in the season he will go on the break his record lol.

12 Aug 2018 10:37:22
I don't know why guys are analysing Jorginho's penalty and thinking it could be a one thing; I think they should know that that's how the guy takes his penalty kicks.

Agree0 Disagree1

12 Aug 2018 12:00:20
I don't mean I think he will miss penalties Obinna, I just think that if Hazard is on the pitch he will be our number one penalty taker like he has been since Lampard left! It's very good to have options though.

Just been at a festival for a few days where I was really, really drunk, so only read Ed's words on Fekir now. What a shame it is that we didn't get him, but we'll have to make do without him - perhaps we'll get him later.
Anyways, really looking forward to the game. Let's hope for a good game. My guess is a 2-0 win for us.

Hudson-Odoi and Kovacic not even in squad. Love Vic yeah but Hudson-Odoi should be starting. Been superb pre season. Hmmm.

11 Aug 2018 14:23:27
And Emerson?

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 14:31:47
Kovacic is understandable cos he hasn't been playing preseason and skipping training to push his move out of Real Madrid; why no Hudson Odoi?

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 20:28:13
The reports are that Hudson Odoi picked up an injury in training on Friday.

I thought Alonso had a good game.

For me, the player that struggled the most was Dave!

Sarri now has a clear week to work with the players, so I would hope for further improvement.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - thought Dave was ok. Clearly Morata needs to pick it up. It’ll be good to get Hazard back in the starting 11 and Kovacic up to speed. I’d assume he’d take Barkley’s spot}

11 Aug 2018 20:55:55
Overall I thought Morata was ok.

The Barkley decision will be interesting. I think he might get the nod next weekend, with Kovacic on the bench.

Hazard only on for about 15mins and was different gravy!

If we assume Hazard starts next week, then the boss has to choose between Pedro, Willian or Huson Odoi. So anther difficult choice but a good one to have!

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 21:37:20
I think Barkley could end up having a really good season Willian was good today as well
I know it’s very early doors ed018 Christensen a Sarri type player? You think he’ll get as much playing time as last year?

Agree0 Disagree1

12 Aug 2018 09:00:48
The squad is having the depth that wasn't there last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 11:38:17
That was better performance from Barkley who looks fit but not match fit and he fades quickly and with Kovacic available I can only see him being a perennial sub. I think Pedro is a Sarri type player so will get picked regularly but to me he does not last 90 minutes so we could see Hudson-Odoi getting plenty of game time in due course. Nice touches from Morata but the guy needs a goal, Willian played well but still slowed play down at times and hats off to Alonso who I thought had one of his best games.

11 Aug 2018 13:26:56
So it all begins for us again today, the long season ahead full of lots of ups and downs.

None of us are expecting a blistering start, but a win would be great for confidence to grow within the team under Sarri.

Presuming Morata starts, let's hope he can get a goal today to get him up and running.

Today won't be an easy game at all, Huddersfield will fight for everything. But we should just have enough if we can grab a goal. Scoring has been a problem this pre-season though.

I'm going for a 2-0 win today. c'mon Chelsea!

Ed001, think you have been very harsh on our window personally.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - ok mate.}

11 Aug 2018 15:07:37
Ed001: I cannot fault your assessment at all. Sometimes and honest opinion when you are desperate for things to change are not received well. Kepa was a statement to Courtois I think as much as a purchase for the future as that amount for someone who has only played 54 La Liga games is a huge leap of faith. Jorghino amd Kovacic are both a major step forward for us and our dreadful midfield of last year but as you pointed out before the defenders are called upon the onus will be on Kante to break play up as neither of the others are strong defensively, that said they are better than Fabregas and Bayakoko were so a step in the right direction, Jorghino's strength is passing and Kovacic passing and strong runs. Sarri says he wants to play at pace, something we have lacked so opportunities will loom for Hudson-Odoi, he likes Pedro and clearly Hazard so the spotlight will be on Willian, Morata and Giroud.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I really hope to see a lot of Hudson-Odoi this season, he really impresses me every time I see him.}

Ed001, got a question on Eden. Chelsea in the past have shown a willingness to allow players to move on that really want to leave.

Now everyone's been saying that Eden desperately wants Madrid, but if that's true then I doubt he'd still be at Chelsea. Would you happen to know whether Eden was pushing for a move? Or was it more that he's certainly open to playing for Madrid, but that he's happy at Chelsea as well?

Thanks for the hard work on the site, man. Much appreciated.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - Madrid never bid for him, so he never had much choice mate. He would jump at the chance to join them and spent the summer dropping hints about it.}

11 Aug 2018 08:24:16
Hmm just as well then. If they're not that interested he might as well sign that shiny new contract at Chelsea.

Cheers, Ed :)

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - exactly mate, but Madrid still have time to come in, their window is open.}

11 Aug 2018 09:42:29
on that ed . I doubt chelsea will sell now knowing they can't a replacement in
(but I could be wrong)

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 09:17:36
I think with the Courtois deal we’d of told them not to bid hazard, his not available and a bid would only unsettle him and the offer would be refused anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - from what Ed002 has explained it was more that they didn't want to lose Asensio.}

11 Aug 2018 11:29:06
We've demanded Asensio in every potential deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 23:18:43
Isn't it time that TBO shut the f*** up in his 'Come and join me' to Eden.

I also read that as well as being a figure of intense dislike in West London, he ain't going down too well in Madrid. Atletico fans are on his back for joining Real and the Real fans are on his back for his childish anti-Real rants while at Atletico. Hey ho, you can't win them all!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - a few clean sheeets and the fans will be singing his name. Football fans are fickle.

12 Aug 2018 09:50:30
Surely Madrid know that Eden's potential price has just gone up even more after the PL window has shut. Maybe a deal in advance for next summer then?

I like the fact we want to include Asensio in any deal they make. That would make sure we get our replacement for sure.
