Eljero Elia and why he has turned down a move to Juventus -

"The club told me that they won't let me join Juventus, but that's not a problem for me. I've agreed with the club that we'd open talks if a big club like Arsenal or Chelsea comes knocking," Elia was quoted as saying by Hamburger Morgenpost. "There's no need to talk if a club of the same level as HSV is interested. Juventus are still one of the best Italian teams around, but they're not better than Hamburg in my opinion."

Why arent we going for this player???

YOung, skillful, extremely quick, brings natural width and with our relationship with Hamburg and his ovious come and get me plea a deal is surely possible. He would cost less than 20m and maybe even a player cash offer including Kalou could be done.

Can I ask why this has been posted in the banter section ED? Also what are your thoughts on the player and do you think Chelsea could become interested? Thanks {Ed018's Note - i don't know, why does it matter. he's a good young player who still needs to develop a bit more}

Theres about 20 days of the transfer window left and these are just my thoughts on what i would want Chelsea to do in the remaining time.

RB - SELL - Bosingwa - £10m - £12m
RB - BUY - Gregory van der Weil - £12m - £15m

Our least concerning problem area, a talented and attacking full back with youth on his side and the defensive ability Bosingwa lacks.

CM - SELL - John Obi Mikel - £12m - £15m
&
CM - SELL - Micael Essien - £16m - £18m

CM - BUY - Yann M'Vila - £14m - £16m
&
CM - BUY - Luka Modric - £30m - £32m
or
CM - BUY - Mario Gotze - £16m - £18m

John Obi Mikel isnt upto playing for Chelsea in my opinion and if your not at a level to compete for a starting 11 spot then they shouldnt be part of the teams plans unless your a veteran or a young talent and Mikel falls into neither of these catergories. Essien has now had 2 ACL injuries on the same leg and coming upto to being 30yrs old. The money we could get for him would be enough to purchase the new european version of himself in Yann M'vila. He is 21 years old and as DM midfeilders come he is one of the top promising talents. Built for the premiership and is already a capped french international.

We also need creativity in the middle of the midfield which we are lacking. Luka Modric with premier league experience is an ideal purchase but due to his transfer fee and the unwillingness of Tottenham to sell a very good alternative is Mario Gotze of Germany. He is a 19yr old with bags of talent, good feet, a eye for a pass and could bring the creativity we desperately need and at probably at half the price.

LAM - SELL - Solomon Kalou - £10m - £12m
or
LAM - SELL - Florent Malouda - £10m - £12m

LAM - BUY - Eden Hazard - £18m - £20m
or
LAM - BUY - Angel Di Maria - £30m - £32m

WE don't have enough width at Chelsea it is clear to see and the width we do have come from wingers who cannot run at defences and dribble with a ball at pace. In an ideal world both the current Chelsea wide men would leave but I don't see that happening. If one were to leave and one of these 2 were bought as a replacement Chelsea would be a complete different force this season. Added width would allow our midfielders more time on the ball and also allow us to spread the play and attack defences with pace and creativity instead of slow build up play and predictable attacking plays.

Thoughts and comments would be appreciated

Thanks

I think Bosingwa will stay... it's possible he could be played as a winger at some times while Ivanovic plays RB.

Can't sell Essien while he is injured

Can't sell Malouda because nobody will take him nor will he accept a contract with another club... Plus, I think he will fit into AVB's system. I'm not a fan of him after last season but I think now he knows he has to fight for his place and will do so willingly.

Gotze is tits but won't move on until next year when he's worth about 25M.
Real Madrid simply will not sell Di Maria... at least not for any price we offer.

And as for Kalou... nobody in their right mind would buy him for 10-12M. The guy is rubbish.

After our spend up in January I had high hopes from some big signings this summer, so far I have been left scratchung my head at our apparent lack of urgency, we canme up short last season and sadly i belive we will fall short again this one unless we sign several first team players and not the ones we have signed who are for the future.

i think we should raid shakhtar for jadson and douglas costa these would be two good aquasitions for us also inkoom the rb looks promising good defensively and very quick and strong when getting forward could fill the long time void we have in that position perhaps emnalo (spelling) could have a word

Linked with all of these this summer in the paper or online (and more i will have forgotten about). But still i will buy a paper tomorow, flick straight to the back page and if theres an exclusive that we're going to buy Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta in exchange for Kalou and Malouda i will still unashamedly get a tinge of excitement because it might just be true.
