Interesting article I seen earlier on how Sane from Schalke playing against Madrid tonight was playing against Chelsea u21's a few months back. He was impressive in that game but a couple of Chelsea players were far more impressive for example Loftus cheek.

SANE has been brilliant since coming on and this shows the benifits you get when you give your youngsters a chance.

Schalke do give a lot of chances to young players, and they played a hell of a game tonight. Such a shame that they didn't get the final goal they needed. It would've been brilliant!
Another young player of theirs, Leon Goretzka. Think he could become a terrific player as well.

If Varane's defending against Schalke tonight is anything to go by I wouldn't pay 30 bob for him let alone 30 mill!

Not going over the top here but is Varane really the CB we need to partner Zouma when Terry retires. Every time I've watched him this season he's been poor. And he is getting the absolute run around tonight by Schalke. Every tackle he tries is such a half hearted attempt. I'd personally say Zouma's better if I'm honest. It might be safer trying to sign someone like Godin or Hummels regardless of interest or not.

{Ed018's Note - he's not playing well tonight that's for sure. You can't help but think that if he joins Chelsea that Mourinho will definitely get the best out of him}

It would be quite worrying though Ed if them two were together even if they are both French. It would be harder for Varane to adjust to the premier league than Zouma too because he's not as good strength wise. That's why I'd like us to go for Godin a no nonsense defender and that's what makes great defenses. Zoumas pace would also compensate for Godin's lack of it.

I still think Varane's the guy for our team. As Ed said, I believe Mourinho would give him trust and confidence and I think he'd get the best out of him. And we all know that Varane at his best is one of the finest defenders around.
I also think that Madrid's defense is a bit hung out to dry, so to speak. Their midfield doesn't have any good defensive players. Khedira isn't the player he was before and Kroos and Modric are obviously more attack minded players, Isco as well. So IMO that contributes to a worse showing by the defenders.

maybe he's heart isn't in it anymore at real, let's be honest they were all poor tonight! Still a great talent though & mourinho would definitely get the best from him

Watching Chelsea in the Uefa youth league, just wanted to say that Boga's technique and dribbling is absolutely unbelievable! He has the ball on a string, it's ridiculous.
Obviously everyone agrees that he's a fantastic talent and I hope he's one of the players the club are expecting to break into the 1st team eventually.
Now for the question, would you guys send him out on loan (now that he's 18) or keep him at the club next year?
Cheers guys and gals

That will be a hard one to decide. He looks quality though and he's also powerful for a small guy and that's why people compare him to Hazard.

Solanke impressed me too. He never exactly played well but he got one chance and took it the sign of a great striker to come.

Indeed I think he plays a fair bit in Hazard's style. Mazy runs, crazy ball control etc.
Yup Solanke looks the business as well. He's scoring like a machine in the youth teams! He could perhaps become a good striker for us in the future but he's still only 17 IIRC. So time's on his side.
Hopefully the 1st team gets a solid 2-0 win as well tomorrow. Really want us to knock PSG out, I don't like that club.
