4 or 5 papers all going with united outbid for bakyoko and look likely to hijack another deal, anything in this eds? Took CAT weeks to pursued me now I'm up for him joining this happens.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed018's Note - no I would not be worried about this}

10 Jul 2017 22:07:17
I really don't understand the money side nor do I want to but why would MU outbid an already acceptable bid surely we'd just match it

I don't believe the reports by the way I believe we will go for Matic when you have a Bakayoko in place.

Showing far too much common sense there Dave, fans won't like that.

Loftus-cheek to palace, can't believe he's 22 and never played consistent first team football before.
Conte apparently fancies him as a forward or just of the striker, any idea where palace intend to play him?

10 Jul 2017 22:46:26
He's 21.

Some thoughts on the midfield.

Bakayoko has a knee injury, which has held up the deal. RLC has secured a loan to Palace, playing under a manager who, from his Ajax days, is happy to give youth a chance. Chalobah should be kept, he could have a big, breakthrough season. I hope Baker is kept in and around the first team squad this year, learning from Fabregas. It would make a great deal of sense to keep Matic for another year and see how RLC develops at Palace.

Kante, Matic, Chalobah, Fabregas and Baker would be ample for the midfield places; especially with players like Luiz able to deputise there too.

10 Jul 2017 19:34:23
Ed002 already said that baker will go out on loan. BIG season for RLC. Poor one and he could be sold, good one - expect him to replace Fabregas next season.

10 Jul 2017 21:16:25
I'm not sure if I rate him or not. I suppose that could be as he does not get a sustained run in the team. There's just this laziness about him!

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2017 21:52:27
If u watched baker in the under 21 tournament ud agree he's no were near ready for the first team he looked bang average . baka and rudiger in the bag no need for all the panic here all summer so far conte will have the squad he wants come august.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Jul 2017 23:40:27
I agree, I don't think he's ready for the first 11 on a regular basis. Just think him spending a year training with Cesc and playing the odd cup game and sub appearance would be no bad thing.

I don't think the U21 Euro's was a good reflection of his quality. It was a poor tournament for him.

Ala aina aswell has a big chance to prove himself to be fair the vitese connection never really helped a player so far to step up so a move around england might be better.

Anyone else think it would be mutually beneficial all round, for Costa and Conte to work together this season with the promise to sell Costa in the summer of 2018

Costa wants to play in the WC next summer, having up until January off won't suit him or Spain.

Chelsea and Conte both need a striker (should Costa go) and Costa is proven in the league.

This would mean we don't have to splash out this season for a striker, giving us time and to scout potential replacements?

Believable0 Unbelievable8

10 Jul 2017 12:01:59
yes it don't make sense to sell costa for 25-30 million then buy someone for 70-80 million, surely better to keep him and use the money on other positions.

10 Jul 2017 12:57:54
Would you perform if your manager said he wasn't interested in you!

Agree5 Disagree4

10 Jul 2017 13:54:05
i would perform if i was a pro on wages of 170 grand a week, and 42000 fans cheering my name.

10 Jul 2017 15:15:46
Apart from the first season with us Costa has had moments of severe dispruption in the team. The man is a great player but if his head is not in the game he becomes a thug. We have seen this time and time again. I understand Conte wanting him gone and the club need to back him in this decision. A side without Costa will be stronger then a side with a Costa who doesn't want to be there.

Agree4 Disagree1

10 Jul 2017 16:36:00
Bigphil:You like or not but you need to accept that Costa is world class striker who gives everything when on football pitch.

Agree1 Disagree3

10 Jul 2017 16:42:02
Conte doesn't want him there. Come on sometimes last season his heart wasn't there. His head and heart is already in Madrid. Why would you want to keep a player who won't give 100% to the team?

Agree2 Disagree1

10 Jul 2017 17:58:37
Samrat. when costa gives it all the man is unbeatable and i wouldn't have anyone else. but every season he has a good long spell where he is not only not giving 100% on the pitch but is also disruptive of the team. I can only see that getting worse now so I can't see it being possible for him to stay.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Jul 2017 23:51:10
i don't actually want to keep costa, i just think if for example we kept him until january, i would expect him to stay professional, as he is a professional and we pay him a lot of money to behave to a certain standard.

Utd bid for bakayoko .
I can see conte having it away on his toes if we miss out to utd on him.

10 Jul 2017 09:09:44
Does anyone think we should go for James Rodriguez?
In January transfer window we had bid rejected for him.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

10 Jul 2017 09:23:30
I don't think he offers us anything. Morata is a far more accomplished player.

Agree4 Disagree0

10 Jul 2017 10:00:17
I have to agree - James Rodriguez had a good World Cup - signed for Real at an exorbitant fee - has done very little since to justify that fee. Anyone remember Poborski? I would swerve James Rodriguez like the biggest swerver has ever swerved.

Agree4 Disagree1

10 Jul 2017 11:55:29
Rodriguez is a attacking midfielder and Morata is a central forward. You can't compare those 2 players. Rodriguez can also play as a winger and even central midfielder.

Agree1 Disagree3

10 Jul 2017 12:45:58
Rodriguez is a midfielder, not so sure about the attacking bit whereas Morata can play as the striker or either wing and works hard, Rodriguez does not, he wanders around.

The fee between Chelsea and Monaco have been agreed weeks ago. This is all down to the player/ agents now. I'm pretty certain all this media stuff is BS. He'll sign by end of week would be my guess.

Agree3 Disagree0

10 Jul 2017 08:18:23
The fee has probably been agreed informally with Monaco. However, it is a concern that Chelsea have not been able to agree terms with the player/ agent for a a while now.

The door is still wide open for Man Utd to make an acceptable offer to Monaco and as they do offer something stupid to the player and agent and sway his head. It's not beyond the realms. Bakayoko is not a player we should lose to Man Utd.

Agree1 Disagree1

10 Jul 2017 09:02:47
Bakayoko will be surely joining us in next couple of days.
It is just media BS which is complicating things for fans.
I also believe man utd want to show interest in player so that they can get matic from us and at cheaper price instead of earlier mentioned in rumors.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Jul 2017 09:21:54
That BS has spread to many sources and as a guess I think they are correct we will not be signing him. At the same time various outlets (like everyone, until it happens I don't trust anything) say we have bid £70m for Morata which I am pleased with as he is a far better choice than Rodriguez who ambles around far too much for my liking.
Our worry is whether Conte will walk!

10 Jul 2017 10:01:31
Bakayoko will sign this week and Morata next week.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2017 10:38:46
well about Moratta I think we are in a bad situation unless the media starts to spread the rumors that conte and Costa av solved their deferences, BC the way its looking now, we are the only club publicly in need of a striker with a pronounced love for Moratta. it then means Moratta price will go higher and the whole transfer thing will be dragged for so long as real Madrid are to so keen to sale. gentle men expect this one to drag more than next week.

Lukaku saga plus the trolls related to his transfer made my weekend a hell.
Some media reports have started linking Bakayoko to Manchester united.
I can only pray and hope that Bakayoko deal to CFC will go through.
Chelsea, come on and do it.
Undo this heartache of loosing again our target to MU.
