Ed002
Assuming Rudiger becomes available in January would it be correct to say that anyone signing him is likely to pay him a substantial signing on fee plus wages?
I am not clear whether this is the normal structure for a player out of contract or whether the offer would be purely very high wages.
If this were to happen is there any reason why Chelsea wouldn't offer him a signing on fee as well?
It's being reported that the club have offered him £140k per week but not a signing on fee.
If that is the case it would be surprising if he stayed.
Many thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure why you are making such an assumption. If Rudiger tells the club he wishes to leave I am sure they will facilitate it. Any club buying him if his contract were to run down would indeed pay a signing on fee and all footballers have "wages". The club may have made what they consider to be the best deal for both parties and if it goes nowhere the club will not be held to ransom and will let the player leaves if that is what he wants.}

Thanks as always for the clarification Ed.

All seems pretty straightforward to me!

Any truth in the rumours that Bayern are interested in signing Werner?
What would be the clubs position if that was true?
Many thanks
P. S
I did a search but a series of warnings came up for some reason.

{Ed002's Note - Timo Werner (F) Seen by Borussia Dortmund as a potential addition when Haaland leaves and bayern Munich has a plan which may see Haaland and Werner paired to replace the potentially departing Lewandowski and Muller. If the player were to want to leave Chelsea the club would be supportive of that as they always are. But the summer is still far off.}

Bayern Munich is really smart indeed for wanting to pair Haaland and Werner. I feel Chelsea too should be trying to pair Lukaku and Werner- now that we have both players: TT please take note, if that is not what you are planning or doing.

Good evening Ed002; please is Chelsea interested in Jurrien Timber?

{Ed002's Note - Jurrien Timber (CB) Monaco have identified the player as a target andd ioffer a route to first team football but it would be seen as a sideways step. An ex-Chelsea player and advisor to the club has spoken with his agent and has recommended the player to Chelsea - but the club would not be able to offer first team football in the short term which is why the likes of Tomori, Guehi and Dynel Simeu moved on. Chelsea have two youngsters on the fringes of the first team and space would be an issue as the focus is on a starter. Barcelona have a scout in Amsterdam who has been pushing the club to look to Timber instead of another option. Spurs have had a scout attending the Ajax and Jong Ajax games and he has alerted Spurs to the player.}{

Hi Ed002, who are the 2 youngsters on the fringe of 1st team action?

{Ed002's Note - Mbuyamba and Sarr.}

ED002, What is our interest in De Ligt.
Are we looking to get him to Chelsea?

Appreciate you input.

{Ed002's Note - Matthijs de Ligt (CB) Barcelona and Real Madrid, as a Kounde alternative, have a declared interest but Juventus will resist selling. The player is happy to play in Italy but if the options arose to move his preference would be for Barce,lona or Real Madrid.}

Jorginho a agent talking again about jorginho going back to Italy, Italy, and a dream move etc etc, be handy if he could actually move his player on and get decent fee, wants to talk to Italian clubs as much as the media,

Agents have a duty to do the best for their client.

He could just as easily be after a new contract from us with higher wages by saying what he is saying. I treat it all as a silly game that all agents play!

See how Saul does, move him on and in the summer get kantes successor. I get it’s his agents Job but it’s all the time, tell this rubbish to the club if it’s for negotiations, not talking about his players desire to go Italy, we’ve all had that desire for him at some point.

Any chance you can put us out of our misery with Koundé Ed002- per Monchi's comments- are the club not going to pay the release clause needed to get him out of there?
Would appreciate it.

{Ed002's Note - That is not this issue I am afraid. If the issue can be resolved something may be possible but right now it is not.}

This is very good news it takes the pressure off Jorghi and Kante in particular.
He's also a more physical player and close to 6ft tall which can be handy at times.
Now TT needs to get him back to his best which was very good.

{Ed001's Note - he can play all over the midfield as well, before Simeone's negativity made him a holding mid he often played on the wing or as an attacking mid.}

As always ed001 love your opinion on players.

What do you think of Saul and how do you think he will fit into our team?

{Ed001's Note - I love Saul, he is a fantastic player and can do pretty much anything on his day. He is a proper utility player as he can play pretty much any position. You can use him to sit behind say Kante or further forward in the central midfield. I think he was exactly what you needed. Get him playing to his best and he will be a fan favourite because he works his backside off and has quality to go with the workrate.}

I was surprised your lot didn't try and sign him Ed001.
Midfield is the weakest part of your team.

{Ed001's Note - wages were the issue or I am sure we would have.}

31 Aug 2021 19:41:17
Thanks Ed appreciated.

Do you see him taking jorginho place in the squad then.

Him and kante.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.

Once he is up to speed and Kante is fit, I would expect it to be those 2 as the first choice midfield. And it is, on paper anyway, a bloody good, great even, midfield.}

Has he the ball quality, press resistant / creative, whenever I’ve seen athletico everyone just seems to be work horses. Left footed cm, so I’m happy,

{Ed001's Note - he was an excellent attacking mid before Simeone worked on him. Plenty of ability on the ball, it was just not being used at Atleti. Honestly he is one of my favourite players.}

Hi @Ed001, I read your comments above with both interest and a smile on my face, as agree with you on Simeone’s impact on Saúl. I then noted this excerpt from the initial words from Saúl joining Chelsea…

”Chelsea have promised me to train in my position, to play we will see. To return to certain customs that I do not do now, that is the most important reason for my decision. ”

Let’s hope Tuchel works his magic with Saúl!

{Ed001's Note - I think he will be a brilliant signing. I did say a few weeks back that Saul would be my fantasy choice signing for Liverpool and I haven't changed my opinion on him being a great player because he has signed for a rival team. I am excited to see him play in the Prem to be honest, though I do wish it was with us rather than Chelsea!}
