Ed 001
Reports that we are bringing Anthony Barry from Wigan to join the management team.
Is this correct and what would he bring to the party?
On the face of it he isn't a top line coach but I maybe wrong.
Thanks for your input.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know much about him to be honest, though those that know him speak very highly of him. He has been in the running for a number of manager jobs in the last couple of years. Working with Paul Cook he will have learnt a lot, as he is an excellent coach. I do know there were a lot of people within Everton that would have liked him to return there.

As far as joining Chelsea goes, I am 99% sure he is joining. I would see it as a big stride forward.}

Thanks as always for the interesting info mate.
I was concerned that we were appointing another coach with little experience given his age.
The management team definitely needed supplementing with someone with considerably more tactical and defensive knowledge than we have currently so hopefully he will provide this.

{Ed001's Note - that is the worry, that he does lack experience. It is something missing badly from the Chelsea set up, but it might be best while Lampard is learning not to have someone who could usurp his power. Once he is in a stronger position, then he can bring in that experience without it risking undermining him.}

Exactly my thinking but I am disappointed he didn't feel able to bring a more experienced coach into the group.
He had an ideal candidate in Eddie a Chelsea boy through and through with experience in the PL and the CL and he isn't doing too bad in Turkey either.
The pressure will be on with the money that is being spent but I can't see us finishing above third unless the tactical approach is changed considerably.

Why would EN want to come back? He only just left to go and become a manager in his own right?

I didn't say he would I was questioning why he wasn't invited to be part of the management team.
