Players with good goal scoring stats (whether defenders or attackers) like Giroud and Alonso has got see more games as it stands esp against relatively lower teams.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that Giroud should be playing more.
But he DID only get 2 goals in 27 PL matches last season! I know he scored a lot in the EL, but he has never been a player with good goal scoring stats, at least not in the Premier League, for us! :)

I’ve always thought of Giroud and Batshuayi as almost perfect opposites. Batshuayi can be missing almost all game but still pop up with a goal whereas Giroud doesn’t score many for a striker but plays a very important role with his hold up play, skill, interplay and movement. Now that Batshuayi has had a small run in the team but failed to score goals I think Giroud is the obvious choice, even if his goal scoring record isn’t great he has a habit of scoring goals right when we need them.
