our time is coming again i can feel it, football works in cycles we and manchester utd are both victims of this, think back to 05-2011 we had the best left back in the world and utd probably had the second best same with centre backs world class midfielders and strikers, the main problem for both of us is when we lose the likes of a cole, terry, lampard ballack, makalele, essien, drogba ect, and utd lose the likes of vidic, ferdinand, scholes ronaldo ect, we have almost no chance of replacing them with the same quality, i see this happening to man city pretty soon, they just lost kompany could they replace him at his prime with a better defender? very very unlikely, david silva will leave at the end of the season also they could never replace him with like for like quality, and aguero starts next season 32 years old same for him they won't sign a better striker than him, and fernandinho is 34, in theory with pepe leaving in the next couple of seasons also they should drop off a bit quality wise for a few years, they will continue to spend a lot of money but it could be a big rebuild, us on the other hand will be ready to pounce, in the next 18 months -2 years, 2/ 3 high quality players in the summer plus our youngsters having a full season to grow and improve all ready for our cycle of dominance to restart! fingers crossed.

While I agree that teams generally have competitive windows I will disagree with the notion that city are about to fall off their cliff. Kompany wasn’t a massive factor on the field the last two years and the issue was that he hasn’t been replaced. David Silva can be replaced by Bernardo Silva and Rodri for Fernandinho. One thing I’ll commend city on is that they brought in players to play in a certain system for a long time before pep showed up and put the finishing touches on things. If they can sort out their defense they will remain quite a nightmare.

yeah i think you maybe slightly missing my point a tad, i have heard some pundits say that david silva is the best attacker ever in the premier league even though i think bernado is a very good player i just don't think will be as good as david silva at his prime, yes they have signed rodri but again for the last 2/ 3 years people in the football world have been saying that fernandinho is the best player in his position in the world, same as aguero probably in the top 3 strikers in the world when fit, so yeah they can buy new players and they have but unless the replacements end up being the best players in the world in the positions they play or top 3 in those positions they should have a drop off in quality, barcelona have spent a lot of money and kept a similar system, but they won't ever be able to replace puyol, xavi, inesta or eventualy messi with out a drop off in quality, you can put bayern munich into that as well, can they buy better wingers than robben and ribery? . no chance can they replace lahm with the same or better quality? nope same with an inform xabi alonso, lewandowski won't be around much longer either so all my point is if you they have to replace 4 or 5 players at the same time and these players are genuine world class then there will be a drop in quality when replaced.
