Does Chelsea need to evolve to a more attacking kind of football? YES OR NO. Pick one.
My answer is YES.

Obinna 123: Absolutely. Back to Mourinho's first year. Brick wall defence and the ability to counter attack with width, pace and a target man. Midfielders that can spring defence into attack and forwards that can finish the job.

Conte is absolutely the man for it he just needs backing. the man has done his job with his hands tied behind his back. it's easy to change the manager again, but if the philosophy is the same we will be having the same conversation next season. chelsea as a club are in it for a quick win. yep it has worked to some degree but since Jose first stint we have never had continued success really.

Hahahaha. You see lots of us are saying 'YES' and 'BUT' Leave the 'BUT' and go with your heart and head. Please guys stop fighting this attacking football thing. Growth is beckoning on us. We have to evolve.

Let me ask you guys a question.
Do you want to play so called entertaining football and win nothing?
For gods sake get a grip on reality!

No

Pragmatic football (not defensive) is more attractive than possession obsessed football.

I keep using the term ATTACKING football not ENTERTAINMENT football. Football in general is a game that's meant to entertain (whether its defensive or attacking) . If you wanna go on entertaining the crowd and not winning- it's your call but I am more comfortable- winning which means attack.

What Obinna 123 means, the ability to effectively turn defence into an attack that bears fruit which means width and pace and finishers. This is not about entertaining, if it was we would not have enjoyed Saturday's result because without that penalty I could not see us scoring from open play.

Thanks C1955, For me I wanna win by playing good attacking football (that brings out the best in footballers) and behind me should be a resolute defense. Entertainment, flair, less tension, less error, free/ easy-scoring are major bye products of attacking football.

Statistical, attacking teams have won more games and titles and produced better players compared to defensive teams (in the UCL, EPL etc. The statistic is like 80-20. I wonder why anyone wants to play defensive football.
