Ed 001 what was your opinion on Drogba? One of the best strikers to ever be In prem? Looking at his goal scoring record and it's really not great I expected it to be much better.

{Ed001's Note - he was a different type of striker. He was a hold up man or target man. Someone who would receive the ball with back to goal and play in someone else more than a goalscorer. In the old days with two up top you would always have one big brute of a man to win the headers or take the ball in and hold to allow support to arrive alongside a goalscorer. Drogba was a throwback to those days. Though he was much more than just big and strong. That undersells him a lot, it was just that was the main facet of his game that was used by the way you would play. I doubt if you could speak to a single defender in the Premier League at that time that would not have him as, at the very least, top 3 of their most difficult opponents to face. I know Carragher found him the most difficult to play against.

Drogba is without doubt one of the best ever to grace the Prem, at hold up play the best. There are better goalscorers, there are better players at attacking the box with pace, but there have been none better I have seen at holding the ball up and bringing others into play.}
