i thought mikel was excellent yesterday and actually drove the team forward really well. I don't think azpi did enough to take ivanovic's spot.

Why Mikel? Just because he's had one good game?

Essien commanded that midfield and although his passing was woeful the rest of his game was superb. He would bring much more energy than either Mikel or Lampard and having him there allows rami to burst forward.

Essien can pass, has a good engine and gets stuck in Mikel can't do neither, get my point? {Ed002's Note - Try and play nice guys.}

Sorry ed just don't like people who cry because you disagree with them everyone's entitled to an opinion on here.

Essien's been a great servant to the club and in my eyes he's looking nearly back to his best. I just think his energy whilst allowing Ramires to burst forward work worm brilliantly. I feel the only reason Mourinho has played Oscar no.10 is to give Lampard more protection whereas with Essien mata could play at his best ahead of the rami - Essien partnership

As for Mikel even when he's playing fantastically he not near Essiens standards at all.

We already have one of the best CM/CDM's and that's Luiz, his development was immense in that position last year. Would always be my preferred choice over Lampard as I feel he doesn’t offer as much in that position.
