Far be for me to put a dampener on all the 'We want Jose back' crowd but a word of caution; I love Jose as much as any Chelsea fan for what he achieved in his time here but. come next January, home to Southampton and we've just gone 2-up in the 50th minute, and the word goes out from the bench that 'that'll do us - kill the game', and Jose's preferred midfield 3 of Lampard, Mikel, and Khedira do just that while Mata spends his Winter warming his backside on the bench (see Modric - Real Madrid) - BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR!

Mata and modric are totally different players. At RM mourinho regularly plays Ronaldo di Maria and ozil and doesn't take them off when 2 up. Where as modric tends to play in the deeper role.

Ozil plays in the mata role for madrid. he plays a 4231 there with khedira and alonso holding, ronaldo, ozil and di maria in attacking midfield and benzene or higuain upfront

Good point. I love Jose, but his football is like a mathematical equation and can be kind of boring. Ironically it was only Rafa that worked out a way to beat him the first time around.

My main concern with Jose is will he give younger players a chance? Jose is known to prefer bringing his own targets in but we have some fantastic talent on the clubs books at the moment. If Jose comes in and in 2-3 years we end up selling them all I would be very disappointed. The likes of Josh M, Chalobah, T. Hazard, Loftus-Cheek, Musonda to name but a few, have bright futures, I just hope they are with Chelsea not elsewhere.
My other concern is that we have spent the last two seasons moving away from a tactic, and a set of players with specific skills, only to bring back the manager that put all of that in place. It has been hard changing the on-pitch ethos of CFC but we are really looking fantastic at the moment, the original poster may be right, a couple of bulky CMs in the guise of Essien or Khedira and we could be back to the Chelsea of old. Not that that is a bad thing given that we won with that formula, but I feel like the younger players I listed may be forced out because because they are slighter than the time of player Jose usually goes for (other than Loftus-Cheek).

Well i'll settle for the dull boring easy 2-0 win, rather than extremely exciting 2 2 draws vs southampton and reading etc. Call me crazy

6.) 17 May 2013
I was at that game and at 2-0 everyone was crying out for the manager to do just that. In the end we just about got away with a 2-2. the same at Reading and Liverpool. Its all well and good wanting to score and score but when you have games just about done and dusted you have to close the game out

7.) 17 May 2013
I have to agree with the last two posters. Yes perhaps we should be beating teams like Reading 3/4-0 but I'd much prefer to shut it down at 2-0. With bigger teams perhaps that's not the best tactic to invite pressure, but if we sorted our defence out and had a GOOD holding mid then I wouldn't see a problem with it.

8.) 17 May 2013
Yer, but are u suggesting that at 2-0 up we should sit back in defense and let teams run at us because we tried under RDM and the previous 2 managers and that doesn't work. Also, that tatics may have served Jose in Madrid with the skilled deep lying mids he has to turn a counter attacks and Ronaldo with his pace is a one man counter attack. Plus Madrid presses for 90 mins similar to Barca while our style of play and team make-up is a little different.

9.) 17 May 2013
Not suggesting you go 100% defensive more that you throttle back and encouage teams to come on to you and then stretch the play as the space opens up
At Reading we were 2 up with 90 mins gone. Reading brought on a big forward and had history of lumping the ball up to him, what did we do? ratere that bringing on an extra defender we brought on, I think, Yosi and bang bang the game finishes 2-2
You listen to any top professonal ad they talk about seeing the game out and that's something that we have failed to do on too many occasions

jose has won 0 this year at madrid.
with ronaldo, ozil benzema, alonso, higuain modric.
he has won 0

It was obvious under RDM that our defence and holding midfield players weren't capable enough but if we brought in the right players and JM managed to instill the correct defensive philosphy then there wouldn't be a problem.
Also I assume the last the last poster isn't a Chelsea fan. Anyway what did Pep Guardiola win last season with Barca? Messi, Xavi, Iniesta etc? Copa del Rey. Hardly anything to shout about.
