Mikel was/ is very underrated. Yes I wouldn't want him back now but to say he only had 1 decent performance in his time here is laughable. You have to remember that Jose changed Mikel's position from attacking midfield (where he plays very well for Nigeria) to a Defensive midfielder. It was under Jose's instructions that he had to play the simple ball, a lot like Makelele played the same way for us, but you don't see anyone moaning about him. I rated him very highly here doesn't get the adulation because he wasn't a flair player, but still done a very good job time and time again.

Completely agree CFCAdam. Very underrated player, never seen someone protect the ball as well as him, he was so calm under pressure. Probably a bit too old for Chelsea to re buy him but still a good asset for any team.

i don't agree i thought he wasnt good enough for chelsea just my opinion ders very few games i remember saying what a player an don't give me the cause he wasmt a flair player u don't remember. kante isn't a flair player but he's had several games were he's been top class an so did makelele an other proper dms. i also never rated busquets an some people think he's the bees knees .

he played dm with several managers over several seasons after jose so u camt say jose is the reason he was changed to a dm if he was good enough other managers would of pushed him further up. anyway just my opinion nice guy an a lover of chelsea doesn't make me think he was better dan i think. don't hate me for my opinion but i am brutally honest at times.
