Nemanja Matic has already agreed personal terms with Manchester United as the midfielder edges closer to leaving Chelsea, according to reports.

We should not sell top players to rivals and with CL we must surely hold on to players like Matic - we will need a much larger squad of trusted starters than last season when no CL.

{Ed002's Note - The squad size is limited. Players must leave if players are to be added.}

Bakoyoko replaces Matic, so effectively 1 in 1 out. And he'll be an upgrade.

You say bakayoko will be an upgrade and you know this for sure.

I'm not suggesting he wouldn't be an upgrade but it's only 50/ 50 chance he will. How many good players come to the PL and struggle.

I've seen bakayoko have an amazing game he looked an absolute beast but then I watched him again and he was missing the entire game so it's not guaranteed that he's an upgrade.

I do believe Ed002 said a few teams where unsure on bakayoko as they are worried he's not ready Ed002 correct me if I'm wrong.

As a MU fan I'd be very happy if we snapped up Matic he's quality in the role he plays.

I'd much rather have Matic than Bakayoko at this time

Just my opinion lads.

{Ed002's Note - It is true there have been concerns about Bakayoko Dave but MU and Chelsea continued to push.}

Could say exactly the same thing about matic mate. So many games just by-passed him. Was caught in possession too many time, too slow on the ball and players just went through his tackles. and he has premiership experience, so it's not like he's new to the league and doesn't know what it's like.

Totally agree with Adam. In his first season at Chelsea he looked liked a world beater, but since then he has really failed to impress. He's looked very clumsy and lacks that attacking edge that we have needed more in games. Some of our best performances last season have been in games that he sat out and Fabregas started along side Kante instead.
From what I've seen of Bakayoko he is a great ball winner but also looks to drive forward and start attacking plays rather than just pass the ball backwards and sideways like matic and also has youth on his side and is nowhere neare his prime yet.
By all means united will be signing a strong premiership player in matic and will certainly be an upgrade on feillani but im very happy with the clubs decision to sell matic on and upgrade with bakayoko.

Matic won't be any big loss men i wouldn't worry he will only boost our income for transfers.

The matic in his first season apon returning to Chelsea set the bar so high. That matic I wouldn't sell for the price of 5 bakayoko's . unfortunately he has not produced anywhere near that standard of late.

Bakayoko is an upgrade and also young. Great signing.

I just don't want us to strengthen United. Selling Them Matic essentially gives them the PL's strongest midfield.

Stringest midfield Jackson? Pogba, matic, Herrera and feillani? Taking into account that we are probably selling matic to united then only one of them players would get anywhere near our 1st eleven and that would be pogba, but the Juve Pogba not the shower of crap that turned in for United last season.

How would matic make united have the best midfield your dreaming he's lanky slow awkward on the ball very average at passing no range from long passes never scores.

Jackson, what exactly are you smoking over there?

24 Jun 2017 06:35:13
I don't smoke, Adam. I don't like putting stuff like that in my body ;-) That said, Matic would do extremely well in a holding role for United. It'd allow Pogba and Herrero to push all over the pitch and exert influence. He'd be a terrific addition for them.

Hes a bamg on average defensive modfielder he only looked ok this year cause of kante.

All of our opinions are correct and I respect all of yours but I'm with Jackson Matic holding for MU would be a good addition for us that being said if MU sign Fabinho then I really can't see Matic coming.

16.) 24 Jun 2017
24 Jun 2017 09:21:43
If I was an opposing side I would be a lot more worried about playing against a midfield with Kantes energy, Bakayokos sheer power and directness and Cescs passing and technical genius than what you have mentioned above Jackson . I don't think we will have to worry too much about moving on Matic mate.

Selling to Man Utd is no different than selling to Everton - they'll be nowhere near the title chase next season.

DiscountDave would united be signing Fabinho as a right back or a holding midfielder tho? If it's as a holding mid then I'm afraid that your midfield will be in all kinds of trouble mate. He is far to indisciplined and gets caught out of position far to many times, luckily Monaco had Bakayoko to cover for his mistakes last season ( oh the irony) . Fabinho' s natural and best position is at right wing back so even if he did sign I can still see Jose coming in for Matic aswell.

If matic plays as he did when he first signed for us, and Pogba plays as he did against Engkand, then United will have the makings of an excellent midfield.

I personally think if we buy him it will be for his versatility and as per ed001 I have watched fabinho and his tracking back is not the greatest by a long stretch but what really impressed me was his deep lying playmaking superb passer. As for bakayoko i've only watched him in about 6 matches and he shone in one against spurs im not saying he won't be a good buy not by a long stretch but only time will tell how how both of these players adapt to Bpl.

I like Matic and imo he didn't stand out this season due to his workload being reduced dramatically by the arrival of Kante (who is superb) but Matic was still integral to you winning the league. Fabregas should be gone long before Matic imo.

Hopefully in regards to MUs midfield if we sign Nainggolan as ed001 said he expects whether that's changed or not I don't know but if he comes then we will have an extremely strong midfield (would like him to knock his partying on the head though)

Guess I disagree with the majority of Chelsea fans on here. I think United will be title favorites next season after a huge transfer window. The quality is there, just a matter of time before it comes together for them.

22.) 24 Jun 2017
24 Jun 2017 13:53:29
Quality is there Jackson but pragmatism of mourihno is there too. I could bet my house on Man utd not winning the league next yeat.

LOL. United spent how much last year and finished where exactly? Doesn't matter how much a manager spends if he then goes on and humiliates his players in public and creates cracks within a squad. Jose makes it all about him, sometimes good, majority bad. You should know that from his time here.

Man City will be challenging, but again all depends on their defence. Got a great attacking squad but lack something at the back. If they rely on Stones, Kompany and Otamendi, then teams will always have a chance of nicking something from them.

Liverpool - God knows how they will do. Can beat anyone on their day, but can also lose to anyone on another. Very inconsistent.

Arsenal - Will struggle to get top 5 IMO.

Spurs - Keep their best players fit and they will be close challengers again.

Chelsea - Confident again that we can win it. If we could snap up Sandro, who would be a MASSIVE improvement on Alonso, maybe replace Cahill with Bonucci or Van Dijk. (Personally would prefer Bonucci, even at 30 years old) . Again my opinion but think Lukaku will be a massive hit IF we sign him. Bakayoko will be an upgrade on Matic, keep Fabregas at all costs.

UP THE CHELS! FORZA CONTE!

I know Mourinho is pragmatic, but I also know what he tends to do during his 2nd season at clubs ;-)
