Ed, wasn't it reported earlier today that the Schalke board said they would allow Draxler to move on if he wanted to and an acceptable bid was made? {Ed018's Note - I hav no idea}

'Acceptable bid' is such a subjective term. Acceptable to whom? If this is true, acceptable could be the 12-15m he's probably worth right now, or the 25-30 they'll probably ask to ward people off. After the 'not for sale' sign they put on him not so long ago, I'd imagine it's more the latter right now. Every player does have their price, it's just who's willing to actually pay it.

There have been reports all over Germany that Real, City and another unnamed British club agreed to trigger his release clause (45million Euros), after trying to negotiate a lower asking price but Schalke refused these lower prices.
Draxler however, chose to refuse their offers (around 12million euros a year! vs his 3million now) and stay at Schalke.
He wants to be in an environment next season where he plays all the time in order to secure his spot with the German national team for the World Cup. He was afraid he could end up on the benches of these clubs and not make it into the Germany squad. Smart kid and/or advisor.

This also mean he would totally be willing to go after the WC.

Cheers
