Hi Ed, big fan of this page and would appreciate it if you could take the time to reply to my post. It seems necessary at chelsea this season and the next that there is a transition from the "old guard" of players in there later years of there footballing careers to a fresher more youthful team either via academy players (van anholt or McEachran for example) or via the transfer market. Also there is a ovious need of width, creativity and pace.

1. Do you see any of our older players such as Anelka, Ferriera and Malouda being sold and what sort of trasnfer fee's would u think fit in this current market?

2. Do you see a future at the club for John Obi Mikel and if not would anyone would be seriously interested in buying him?

3. Lastly as i expressed i really feel at Chelsea we are lacking creativity and pace and need to invest in the right and left wings. Players such as Eden Hazard and Hulk seem to fit this mould of player. Pace, skill, youth and an eye for goal, Is there any interest in these two players and any possibility of signing them?

With Essiens injury i dont think Mikel will be leaving. Lastly i agree with you, a player such as Hazard or Hulk would be a good fit in our side, although Hazard is unlikely to leave.

What happens if we dont get Modric ed018 the chances are slimming i think Pastore is a much more viable option he wont stay in italy barca and real have other priorties i think we could sign him {Ed018's Note - yes i think pastore is a good option and i think we may have a good chance in signing him, but that doesnt mean we will}

ed I have read that Villa-baos has been looking at an alternative formation of two out and out stikers in training do you think if a winger cannot be brought in that it may be likely despite his clear desire in pre season and porto reign that he may indeed accomodate two strikers? {Ed002's Note - I don't comment on formations, tactics or teams I am afraid.}

ed002 given Villas-Baos recent comments on the striker situation (and i know you have mentioned not too read too much into it) is it more likely that he will be lookin to offload anelka or kalou or possibly drogba ( which i hope and doubt not) before he enters the market looking for a striker as oppose to people jumping to conclusions that a striker will not be brought contrary to his comments I know you have previously stated that you expect anelka to move on .... thanks for your time huge fan of the site {Ed002's Note - I don't see it as being a sequence of events. Anelka will almost certainly leave. Drogba will decide what he wants to do. Ed, I agree with you 100% that modric is completely unreasonable for anything above £25m. I see him as an upgrade over yossi benayoun. A lot of people will bash me for this but they have similar styles and anyone who has watched the preseason games will tell you that yossi has been the best so far. To me I just don't think at 25 years old he justifies some of the money being discussed. Oh well. Thanks always

BW {Ed002's Note - (1) Perhaps a slim chance. There is certainly interest from Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs in Juan Mata, and Valencia are preparing for next season without the player. However, general interest is also being shown by Chelsea Manchester United and Manchester City. Barcelona may well also become interested at some point and if they do show their hand I feel he could move there. Manchester City were reportedly heading the queue but had an offer rejected and Arsenal appear to be preparing an offer themselves. It would not be entirely out of the question that Liverpool or Manchester United could push for the player and make a concerted effort to match any other offer; and then there is a chance Mata could join either. In order to get the best deal, Valencia wanted to wait (a) to see if Barcelona show an interest; (b) until after the Under 21 Championships where he could well put in a very good performance. A player exchange for David Villa when Barcelona sign Alexis Sanchez is also not out of the question in my view. (2) Manchester City are looking to offer the player a weekly salary that no other team could match. Chelsea have made their interest known previously and put together a package that was unaaceptable to the player. It is hard to see anything chnaging unless the player turns down Manchester City. I got trashed here for suggesting that Manchester City would make a bid regardless of what happens to Tevez so I have less than zero interest in discussing Aguero anymore due to the abuse I will recieve. (3) I don't know of a £35M bid and if they are it strikes me as way too much for the player. (4) It is not really a race for Pastore. Chelsea made a bid and it remains on the table. (5) It is futile in asking me to explain anything said in an interview - I have tried to explain that you should not hang off every word you hear or believe everthing you read on the internet.
