ED regarding Cavani were they're more talks after our bid was rejected? you said the last time there valuation was way higher then what we offered? {Ed002's Note - It is something that may go to the wire. Italian clubs are very difficult to deal with.}

ed002 thanks for all your help so far, hopefully the rest of the window will be straightforward for you with the expected arrivals of Moses, Azpilicueta and Cavani perhaps. I was wondering if there is any progress in shifting any of the older fringe players, the likes of Ferreira, Meireles, Essien, Benayoun and Malouda? Thanks! {Ed002's Note - Yes and maybe is the answer. I expect three to arrive and perhaps two or three of those listed to leave.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I assume Benayoun and Malouda to be the most likely to depart with Meireles being a possibility?

How come victor moses played 29 games for england u21 and bellow but now plays for nigeria? Or it just wikipedia BS? {Ed002's Note - Sometimes folks go back to their roots - maybe I will play for the USA one day?}

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Just to make my position clear, I do not believe that ed002 is American. British humour, no American spellings. Definitely English. And definitely male.

Dave {Ed002's Note - I am not sure if that is a compliment or not - I left the US in 1981 and now have a really posh English accent. I say Scoownes not scons.}

Here's your answer www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/15524642

He holds dual-nationality. He was never capped at full international level for
England so he was able to switch nations (so to speak). {Ed002's Note -

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for your help it was complitly useless for any 1 who is actually interested u cant just change national club but beacuse he was never 1st team capped it ment england was not yet his chosen countrey of origin {Ed002's Note - It is like owning an Irish wolf hound or finding an Irish 10p piece in your change qualifies you to play for Ireland.}

Ed002, are you bruce buck? thanks - james13. {ed002's note - {Ed002's Note - Not today, but if you have enough money I might be tomorrow.}

Ed's, a little off topic, but are there some pieces of information you know but are not allowed to tell us? I.e things that could disrupt a deal if it were to be made public? Cheers

Dave {Ed002's Note - I don't think there is anything which would disrupt a deal but there are occasionally things which it is not possible to share.}

is it right that zenit are preparing a bid for hulk that will blow us out of the water? 38m and bruno alves i'm hearing.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Not worth that much, we ought to just publically distance ourselves from him, way over-priced and over-hyped.

It's doubtful porto would even accept that offer, anything over 30 mil would be a waste

if kakuta is going marseille i hope its only a loan a season thr will do him alot of good. hes so so talented he just needs a bit mre time, then if he comes back and not improved we let him go. this is one player i can see still becoming a really good winger. ive seen a deco interview saying he was the most gifted at chelsea. and you dont get player of the tournament u20 world cup if your no good. BLUEBOY1 {Ed002's Note - We will see.}

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Only problem is he seems unable to pass accurately! No biggie......

Agree0 Disagree0

He's been below average out on loan and he's looked completely out of his depth when he has featured for the first team in pre-season. He's the same age as Hazard, but Eden makes him look like a 14 year old schoolboy. I don't think there's any future for Kakuta at Chelsea

Ed, any truth in Lukaku going on loan to Everton? Not sure if the quotes are genuine but seems his agent says he's definitely not going to Fulham {Ed002's Note - He will likely go on loan to an EPL club - I can't say where.}

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Is that because you dont know ED or that you are not allowed to say? {Ed002's Note - I don't know where he will end up but it is very likely to be an EPL team if he goes on loan.}

Hi Ed , I see that you expect a deal to go through for Moses by Friday , Do you expect Azpilicueta also by Friday ?
Or are talks not as adavnced in the situation with Moses ? {Ed002's Note - I should not have said it - don't want to get in to the timing of events. The discussions in London with the folks from Marseille were late last week - so we are reasonable close.}

Hi Ed,
I don't usually post on the site but have been coming on for 2 years and I have to say great work! I have a couple of questions... 1) Any new news on Moses since BBC reporting fee is agreed? 2) Is there any interest for Meireles? 3) Any updates on Cavani and do you think the transfer will go through? I'd love to see him in a Chelsea shirt. 4) Is the Hulk deal completely out of the view or is there still a small chance? Thanks again Ed and great responses sometimes ;)

CFC BLUE {Ed002's Note - (1) I expect a deal to go through on Friday. (2) There were enquiries from Napoli and Spurs but it seems quiet now. (3) No updates - the interest remains. (4) There is a significant distance between the clubs on price - so it remains unlikely unless something changes.}

Ed, I was hoping for some guidance on the whole kakuta marseille situation. You've said he may be included in the deal but I was wondering if it would be a loan or permanent move involvement. I know you've said that's one of the few places he said hed go on loan to. Thanks for the help!

if kakuta is going, is he going on loan or permanent? it would seem stupid to let him go after all that hassle we had with the transfer embargo {Ed002's Note - He does not want to go on another loan - but may reconsider for Marseille.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Thing is Kakuta really hasn't improved. His loan spells have been underwhelming and he looked so out of his depth in pre-season and he's 21 now, so should be showing signs of breaking through. Marseille can have him permanently if it was up to me {Ed002's Note - He had a very good time at Dijon.}

Just seen this on the ITV sport site.

Calciomercato claim that Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis wants Chelsea to sign star striker Edinson Cavani. De Laurentiis has even recruited an Italian FIFA agent to oversee the deal.Cavani has been valued before at £60m+, but Napoli might now accept an offer closer to £35m.

Any ideas?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

My only concern is that players coming in from italy apart from zola dont adapt well to the English game unlike the french or spanish leagues

Agree0 Disagree0

A definite possibility and could well happen. Still a rumour but one I would like to happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully they'll buy him if the price gets down to 35m~euro

Agree0 Disagree0

Still not entirely convinced but the bottom line is we need 2 world class strikers and with potentially Cavani, Moses and Azpilcueta our squad will be as good if not better than any team out there. Plucking a made up figure out the air here but around 25 mill plus Meireles should be a tempting deal for both clubs

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he would adapt to prem look at napoli 1st leg CL him n lavazzi tore us to pieces even if his goal was a hand ball

Agree0 Disagree0

I just dont think he will be a prolific as he was in italy. i would much prefer higuain & falcao over cavani. the only reason being ive seen the other 2 play alot. & only cavani in CL and olympics. im still not convinced he will do better than torres, but then again we do need another astriker. BLUEBOY1

Agree0 Disagree0

Falcao would be by far the best striker for Chelsea, having said that I would like to see Cavani at the Bridge!

Who ever said that players from the Italian league do not adapt, apart from Zola!

The hulk situation is odd. Basically, Porto are reluctant to sell for under a fee of about £60million. This is because of the gargantuan buy out clause which is £80million. There are also lots of complications involving a third party which i'm not sure has been resolved. Chelsea just don't see the point of negotiating when the valuations are so different. Despite being a quality player and one I would love to see join Chelsea I think for the time being we should let him pass. Perhaps Porto might reconsider but based on the situation right now its No-deal.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Porto will accept £40m for him!!!

But the reality is he ain't worth more than £30m!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

I live in portugal and everybody here is convinced he is chelsea bound. Even my stropy porto pals.
All the other fans are praying he leaves. Him and Falcao would do the biz!

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Is he a good player? what has he done?

Agree0 Disagree0

Really not sure on this one. He was arguably Wigan's star performer last season but could he cut it at a big team? I'm worried he's the kind of player who thrives on being a big fish in a small pond, if you get me.

08 Aug 2012 16:18:22
Is it true llorente has turned down a contract extension, if so which teams are interested, imo he is a steal because he is a cheaper option than cavani although not as prolific, also is there any interest in perreira of porto, as sky sports seems to think that we are, cheers in advance ed doing a good job this summer,
Blue blood {Ed002's Note - Fernando Llorente is interesting Juventus, Spurs, PSG and Manchester City with rumours of interest from Arsena as well. Barcelona are considering their future options which may involve a move for the player. There is a very good chance that he will move this summer.}

Hi Ed. Do you think there is a chance Chelsea will go for Seydou Doumbia this summer? He has great pace, great movement, is great in the air, is strong and is an absolute goal machine and is only 24 (though I guess the age is questionable coming from Africa). I'm surprised no big clubs and have made a move for him yet. I think he would be the ideal replacement for Drogba. I feel it is important we aquire some physicality and energy upfront. Many thanks for your time. James13. {Ed002's Note - No, I would doubt it.}

Believable7 Unbelievable0

There are questions regarding the validity of Doumbia's age. People have speculated that he could be up to 10 years older than stated. Is this true ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

Moscow value him at £25mill as well, which is too much considering he's only proved himself in Russia and Switzerland

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2012 15:14:14
Ed are we still interested in Pereira and if he was to sign would he be a replacement for Cole? Would Bertrand subsequently go on loan? Cheers {Ed002's Note - There is no plan to bid for him and no plans for Bertrand to go on loan.}

Hey ED,

Italian TV channel SportsMediaSat have claimed that the Napoli President has decided to sell Cavani, and Chelsea are in negotiations to sign him.

They also say that the Napoli chairman De Laurentiis has recruited a FIFA agent and has sent him to London to make Cavani's move to Chelsea happen!

Any truth to this? Thanks ED.

Hi Ed,

Really appreciate all the work you put into this website. It seems the Cavani rumours are beginning to re-emerge has there been any further developments to your knowledge? Additionally rumour has it Kakuta could be included in the Azcilpueta deal, is there any truth in this? I know these issues have been addressed before but an update would be excellent. Thanks {Ed002's Note - It is possible something may be done for Cavani. The situation with Kakuta is that he may go to Marseille - perhaps as part of the deal and perhaps not. It was discussed between the clubs last Friday.}

Recent reports suggesting Cavani's availibility no specification of a price, however, Napoli seem keen to sell after his poor performance for Uruguay in the olympics. Perhaps with a bit of negotiating we might be able to bring the price down to under £30million at a push.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

This doesn't seem to make any sense for a couple of reasons. Regardless of his performances for Uruguay, he was outstanding for them last year and they surely wouldn't forget that because of the Olympics. Also because he was so poor at the Olympics surely they wouldn't want to sell because they would be unlikely to get as much money for him, assuming teams would now be unwilling to offer huge amounts?

SW

Agree0 Disagree0

I doubt that very much, Napoli won't budge on the price due to him playing poorly at the olympics. That doesn't affect Napoli one bit!

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't be daft. His goalscoring record for Napoli is phenomenal. Like they'd be keen to sell him after 3 relatively meaningless games at international level (or under 23 level even!)

Agree0 Disagree0

Where did you read such thing about Cavani? cant find it :(

You need to lay down the peace pipe if you think cavani is going for less than £30m.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Agree0 Disagree0

Speculation is that we are to loan Wigan 1 maybe 2 players, so the deal won't be done today or tomorrow IMO.

Look stop living in dream land naymar will not sign! If he was ever to leave santos the likes of city would go silly money that even we can't compete! And even barca and Madrid would step in and I think they would be more of a attraction to him! To light weight for me rather have a power house like hulk

Pinky {Ed002's Note - Chelsea have had an interest in Neymar for more than a year and there have been many discussions with his agent and his club. I would not jump to conclusions about where he might end up.}

Believable2 Unbelievable2

You got told Pinky

Agree0 Disagree0

I would love to see him at Chelsea and could be the signing of the summer next year...

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said ed, this is football anything can happen, why should it bother you whether people would like to hope we sign neymar?

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally i think neymar will stay in brazil until after the 2014 world cup

trueblue012

Agree0 Disagree0

If neymar says he only wil join Chelsea cause of Oscar he wil most likely end up there ;) he got a say in it aswell remember

Agree0 Disagree0

It because people get their hopes up, even if they don't admit it. And then when Barcelona or Real Madrid or whoever end up getting the player instead of Chelsea, the poor saps can't go crowing to their silly mates down the pub about signing the new Messi. It is also a reaction to the FM generation who just want to sign everyone they have seen on youtube doing a couple of step overs.

Hi Ed

Any 'genuine' interest in Remy or Keissling? {Ed002's Note - Kiessling was looked at two years ago but I don't know of any interest at present. There have been no approaches to Marseille regarding Loic Remy from Chelsea but in January a third party (an agent) suggested to Marseille that there was interest from Spurs and some sort of exchange for Pavlyuchenko was proposed which was immediately dismissed. Spurs went in to discuss options for buying the player outright and Marseille said he was not for sale but they could return with a bid soon. Remy would perhaps be interested in a move to a leading side but Marseille have no interest in selling unless a very good offer is made - circa 20M euros - as they need the money. Spurs, Newcastle, Marseille and Lille are perhaps showing the most interest right now.}

Don't judge him on 5 recent games and a year in Brazil. He could just as easily be a flop in the PL like a lot of players who score goals for fun in lesser leagues e.g. Forlan at United, us with Kezman etc. I would gamble on him if his price was acceptable, but I doubt it would be.
