Can really see this Isco deal going through. If many of you can remember Benitez brought a massive Spanish influence to Liverpool in the form of players such as Torres, Alonso, Reina, Reira, Arbeloa...etc. You may say that this is complete BS because you wouldn't expect an interim manager to have a big say in transfers which makes me suspect that the club are planning to offer Benitez the job full time. In my opinion this would be a brilliant decision as he is a top top manager and I believe will bring Chelsea success, if other fans stopped being so childish and petty they would see this.

Anyway back to Isco, despite the move looking to make absolutely no sense because out of all the clubs who look to be interested in him; Chelsea are the club that are the best stocked with players in his position e.g. Mata, Oscar, Hazard, Marin, Moses etc. However I think the plan is to drop Oscar deeper on the pitch where he can control the tempo of the game, which he is more than capable of doing IMO. Isco is a great player and could easily get into the line up of many of Europes elite clubs, and at 20 million he would be a steal, and would already add to our Spanish contingent at the club. Isco is young and a most definite starter and with Malaga in debt the sale of the player would suit both parties. Really hope this deal is genuine and does go through.

Totally agree, Oscar will move eventually to CM as he has the fight and passion to close down and tackle combined with his technique.

Really hope we get Isco now

Deano

Agree0 Disagree0

Next season Oscar will be beside Luiz in the cm mud roles.. Oscar is a top top player,,

Agree1 Disagree0

Was thinking the exact same thing. It took me only a couple of minutes after I saw the news, to figure out that the only way the club can see this work is that the plan is to drop Oscar deeper. And even Oscar himself at the start of the season said for some Brazilian media that the club told him they see him in the Lampard role, the no.8. I think he can function there even better than Lamps as he arguably has a better passing technique and a better ball legling tehnique. The only problem I can see is that Oscar is playing the no.10 for the Brazil, and I presume he'll want to play in the starting line-up in 2014 world cup. Not sure if he'll be in the starting line-up in the double pivot..

Agree0 Disagree0

Where does this leave Mikel? We have Romeu who is promising (out for the rest of the season), McEachran and De Bruyne who i rate highly. Luiz and Ramires i would definitely have on the team sheet before him just as i would with Lampard and Oscar.

Id personally like to see Mikel sold in the summer, we have lots of strength of depth there next year.

PB

Agree0 Disagree0

Mikel has just signed a new long term deal unfortunately.

Phil

Agree0 Disagree0

I no which makes this Isco signing if it does happen strange as we've just spent £25m on Oscar who's future is at CM

PB

Agree1 Disagree0

Phil

He has indeed signed a new contract but that brings two benefits
1 He has a higher sell on value
2 His inital cost is written off over a longer period
Far from restricting the possibility of him being sold I think it may well be a ossibility that if a good offer comes in then he would be allowed to leave.

You clearly know nothing about the clubs history or have any idea about past circumstances regarding previous managers and previous players.
I agree benetiz is a good manager, but his alliance with Liverpool, his reluctance to play the same 11, his previous comments on chelsea fans, and his lies regarding contract situations, stating lampard and cole with go and then back tracking.
How are chelsea fans being childish, they're speaking from their heart and as a season ticket holder, and going home and away to every league game and champions league your comments are pathetic and show no intelligence or knowledge of football let alone chelsea football club.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the season ticket holder (no name) who posted above about Benitez lying about the contract situations....are you serious?! That press conference came extremely early on in his tenure and he clearly answered a direct question with a direct answer. I would be amazed (especially at that point) whether Benitez has any say in current players contracts....doubtless he would have been given "the latest" by the clubs hierachy.

ED002 just seen on the Man Utd page you say Chelsea Juventus and Real Madrid are best placed to sign Isco does that mean we may have approached Malaga ? {Ed002's Note - I thought it all clear. On December 8 Chelsea were represented at a Malaga game in order for someone to take a look at Isco. This is clear and was discussed prior to Christmas. Malaga, not wanting to sell and wanting to increase a clause in his contract that would allow a Spanish team to force a discussion with the player, proposed trading an increase in wages against an incraese in this figure. Recent interest from a Spanish club has rather forced the hand of other interested parties (Juventus and Chelsea) and last week it Chelsea requested the supply of a ticket to attend the game in A Curuna. That person has now moved on elsewhere as I explained on the Liverpool page.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Do you expect Chelsea to bid for Isco this transfer window ED?

06 Jan 2013 16:23:25
hi ed, have looked in the search function for news on isco, cant find it. Could you repeat by any chance? {Ed002's Note - I assume you misspelt it then. Did you search the Liverpool page for Gomis as well? Anyway:

Barcelona, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Juventus and Spurs have shown an interest in Isco and he came close to a move to Dortmund, who may still follow up the matter. Chelsea had someone watch Isco in a recent game against Granada and again very recently. I suspect AC Milan might look to the player as well. There were rumours of interest from Manchester United and Arsenal. If they are forced to sell - and they don't want to, I would suspect Chelsea, Juventus and Real Madrid are best placed right now to push a deal through. A move in January is by no means certain as Malaga are looking to have Isco sign a new long-term contract. Malaga wanted 21M euros and are now negotiating an increase in his release clause to 42M euros using a pay rise to tempt the player to agree - but they do fear a move for the player this month.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I read an online report from Spain today quoting 40m Euro's wanted by Malaga for the player and that Real Madrid have shown a lot of interest. As a young Spaniard that must be very tempting for the lad (unless he's a Barca fan lol)

If Isco is an attacking midfielder, who would we drop? :-/

Geffro

Believable5 Unbelievable1

For all of the 'we have enough midfielders' brigade I would ask them to remember the West Ham and recent QPR games. Whether Marin makes it who knows? Hazard is very young and new to the Premiership and needs resting at some point. The same can be said for Oscar. We cannot expect Mata to play every game. At the moment and for a few weeks we are without Moses. With all of the young midfielders we have needing to bed in to the Premiership and find their feet there appears to be little options for the Manager to bring someone on that can change a game for us. This is why Chelsea (IMHO) are seeking another real class player that can step in and do the same job as Mata and offer the same regular scoring threat.

Potentially split loyalties for that tie! I obviously love Chelsea and supoorted them through my entire (relatively young!) life so far, but my grandad was a brentford fan for all of his 86 years and took me to Griffin Park so much I felt like a season ticket holder! Very emotional tie for me, my grandad would've loved to see the European Champions against his "Good auld bees!" before he died a few weeks back. Really hope Brentford can beat Southend and set up the tie, would be getting tickets ASAP for that! Come on you blues!
CFCFOREVER!
P.S. Rumours in France say we have made contact with Lyon over Gomis and have signed Isco, anything you can say that credits/re-inforces/ disagrees with this comment? {Ed002's Note - Seemingly not without some level of abuse. Try the search function for Isco - perhaps even search the Liverpool page for Gomis.}

Ed

Can you please clarify the situation with players whose contracts end on 30/6

Namely at what stage can a player, such as Lampard & Ferdinand can talk to clubs in their own FA and also to foreign clubs

I ask because of the media hype around Lampard yet in the case of Ferdinand (who is 6 months younger than Lampard ) is in no different position to Lampard and other than a throw away comment from SAF nothing seems to have been said re Ferdianands situation.

Terraloon {Ed002's Note - For players in the EPL soon to be out of contract they can speak with clubs who play under non English/Welsh FA on January 1. They can speak to clubs in the English/Welsh FA on June 1 but most clubs will give them permission to speak with other EPL clubs as soon as the season is over by releasing them from the remainder of the contract whilst paying it up - so perhaps early May.}

Ed about this young lad Luca Hardy, I was down at the training ground talking to big frank (one of the back room team, he's been there for ever out lived loads of managers) he mentioned to he that one the scouts had been watching this lad from Nottingham Luca last watched him play for Nottinghamshire schools v Leicester said he's the really deal stronge both feet uses his head ran the game down the left side. Set up 2 or 3 goals stopped some the other end with great tackles and to top it all scored a stunning free kick from 30 plus yards. Watched him a good few times never but a foot wrong !

Hey Eds, I was wondering if you had any news about Benat? This is the type of player we need - not a player like Isco. We have enough attacking talent, and while Benat can get forward, he is more suited to sitting deep and picking teams apart. Isco is a great player don't get me wrong, but a player like Benat fits the needs of the team.

Thanks as always,

Hi all life long Chelsea fan sent to York years ago! My son plays for York city 13 academy and York schools, I've seen this notts county player Luca Hardy twice now and what a talent, he plays different positions for the two teams centre back for notts county - boy can he tackle hard stronge puts his body between the ball and heads but so carm and picks a pass if its a yard or 70 yards stunning. For the other team I've seen him play he was down the left wing (Bale came to mind) again out of this ago group step overs pace and drive, all in one player. Can't wait to see him again
