It was made pretty clear to people this transition would take time, especially with the players that would need to be moved on. Unfortunately because of the start we had people automatically assumed we're close to the finished product already and that playing an attacking system would hide our flaws.

We've had the same flaws in this team all season, the only difference is we're not riding on Hazard's goals anymore and injuries have been hurting us. Do people not realise the importance of having quality at the ST position? . Do you not remember the amount of times Costa bailed us out in 1-0 games.

It doesn't matter if you're playing a defensive or attacking system, if you don't have enough players capable of scoring or creating you're going to struggle, especially against teams who just defend. Give Sarri a quality ST and a winger who won't go 20 games with 2 goals and you'll see a big change in the team.

Of course it wouldn't fix all of our problems but it'll help drastically. Teams defend against us because they know we don't have enough quality to break them down consistently. If we did we'd be able to play Sarri's style of football much better. It's never been to pass side to side in the final third.

It's been that way because teams don't press us, forcing us to play more a possession based game. It's why we looked great in the 2nd half vs City and 1st half against Liverpool. It relies on opposition teams trying to attack us so we can attack with pace, this doesn't happen when teams park the bus. This is the exact reason why we need more quality up top to break them down which will help us play Sarri's style.

Easy saying give Sarri a winger who scores more than 2 in 20 but we’ve just spent 58million on a who winger who’s got a similar scoring record.

Whoever the best centre forward in the world is and whoever the best winger who scores goals is, if we signed them it wouldn’t make everyone happy!

If we signed Messi you wouldn’t hear me being negative for the day for a change 😉😂.

Kante are you ever happy mate?

Not at the moment I think we’re going in the wrong direction.

I blame those wicked goal posts and that very horizontal crossbar. They just aren’t doing enough. ’I mean, there is no movement from any of them!

Don’t get me started on the white lines. What is the point, they are just deadwood.

Nice post LB90.

Honestly though football fans are the most fickle people you could ever wish to meet.

Chelsea win and Sarri is the savior, with Jorginho his most loyal and needed lieutenant.

Chelsea don't win and Sarri is just like all the other ex managers, with Jorginho his rubbish signing.

Let's compare Sarri to Klopp and Guardiola after just half a season, come to question it why hasn't Sarri won us a trophy yet?

Man alive! Get a grip people! What were you honestly expecting this season? A title challenge? A brand new style of football with no hiccups? Get real! Top four, and champions league football next season, would be a success!

Modern football fans, and I hate to say this but Chelsea fans in particular, expect success to be delivered on a silver platter. It doesn't work that way, just be glad you support a successful team, get behind the team, get behind Sarri and get behind the project!

Londonblues90, that is the best analogy of out team/ situation.
I agree whole heartedly, I think Wednesday summed up the situation. Also those screaming out for RLC well once again he flattered to deceive.

How are we going in the wrong direction?

Willian / Pedro need replacing come end of season, so bought Pulisic. Fantastic buy. If CHO re-signs he’ll be in the team on a more frequent basis next season.

Replace Cahill - Luiz stepped in and done a terrific job bar one/ two matches.

Fabregas needed replacing and we signed another fantastic player in Jorginho. Says it all when Pep is pissed off that he didn’t get his man.

We replaced a proper battling CF in Costa with a limp dick of a player in Morata. He’s not used to the hustle/ bustle of Prem so goes missing. THAT IS HUGE!

RLC has come on leaps and bounds this year.

Kante, ok played out of position, but still does a job.

Sarri is doing all he can with the players available to him. We’ve missed players through injury, bad form and. we are still not a bad side. 4th in the prem, we’ve never done great over the Xmas period. I remember when we never used to win in November! Sign a striker, I read that a bid may go in for Lozano (would be a great addition) and i think we’ll be fine for rest of season.

People comparing Sarri’s first season to Conte’s is ridiculous. We had no Europe, only the league to concentrate on, fresher legs, a strong bustling striker who would nick us a 1-0 win, and more time on tactics between games. Sarri came in late pre season and has done wonders in my eyes. So many people downbeat.

Also going in the wrong direction. Are we forgetting.

We’ve offered one of the worlds best players the BIGGEST contract we’ve ever offered in the clubs history.

We managed to convince N’Golo kante again another world class player to reject PSG’s advances and sign a new contract.

We are trying to convince CHO an exciting prospect to sign a new contract.

We signed the most expensive keeper in the world who can easily become the number 1 in the world.

We’ve just signed one of Europe’s most sought after 20 years old in Pulisic.

I don’t think the future is looking to dull do you?

We can’t make the players sign these contracts but the intentions to get Hazard and Hudson-Odoi to play their futures here have been made by the club. Not much more they can do.

I agree Adam i don't think we're going in the wrong direction, we just need a few quality additions, keep our best players and most importantly, patience. As J said not many people should've really expected a title challenge considering our situation and squad even despite the run we had at the beginning. Top 4 and possibly a trophy would be an excellent season in my book. Of course to achieve that the squad does need help, especially with the injuries we have and lack of goals. Hopefully new additions are on the way given we have a couple of very big games coming up! .

Got a funny one for you lads.

I was at the store I work at tonight and through comes this Chelsea fan wearing a 2012/ 13 shirt. I complimented him on the shirt and we got talking about football and he adamantly told me that John Obi mikel will Be returning to Chelsea in the summer as he knows one of his family members. I had to just nod.

I live in Australia, so this guy apparently knows a family member of mikel lol.

I’m a big mikel fan but surely not eds? Lol.

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of, unless he were to retire it would not make any sense.}

ed001 is true in chelsea being interested in PSV forward Hirving Lozano in Jan?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - they have certainly looked at him, not sure it was with a view to a Jan move though.}

03 Jan 2019 13:21:27
his pacey suarez kinda style might suit us.

Kristof Terreur saying that PSV (Eindhoven) are stating that they haven't received any offers for Lorzano; who knows if they mean that an acceptable offer hasn't been made for him or they aren't selling this winter?

Ed001, any clue as to who we are looking at to replace Fabregas?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I know you were looking at Barella and that was Sarri's choice but his price shot up, so I think he is out now. Napoli also issued a hands off warning about Allan saying Chelsea were interested but they were not selling cheap. Though I have no idea if the interest was genuine or if they were just looking to stir up a market for the lad. I believe Rabiot and Ramsey were both considered then decided against over wage demands. It does seem likely, with the little time Fabregas was getting, that it is probably left until the summer though.}

03 Jan 2019 12:01:37
id love to see Rabiot as his replacement.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2019 16:25:17
I like Rabiot too but I'm not sure he's the deep lying playmaker (Jorginhoesque or Fabregasesque kind) that Sarri likes to play infront of his defense. I still have the feeling it could be Barella coming in (I could be wrong though) .

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2019 21:05:49
A short question ed1 and I think the answer might be pretty short too. Is there any "big" team in Europe not interested in Barella? Seems like every side is looking at him with varying degree of interest.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not according to him no. But I think he is staying in Italy.}

03 Jan 2019 23:49:48
Ed what about sandro tonali? Or denis suarez?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I know Tonali is very much of interest, but I have never seen him play and am not sure if he would be a replacement for Fabregas or not. I have heard people call him the new Pirlo etc but Pirlo started out playing as an attacking midfielder and moved back gradually during his career, so Tonali could play anywhere in there for all I know without watching him sorry.

Suarez, last I heard, was being touted as part of a swap deal for someone, though I forget who, from another Spanish team.}

05 Jan 2019 02:07:50
Ed reports in italy saying chelsea offering asking price for barella of €45m, any truth.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know of any offer for him on the table, but his club are asking for quite a bit more than that.}

05 Jan 2019 09:28:23
I meant £45m.
