Hello ed is there any truth in the rumour about sneijder taking lampards place

Believable7 Unbelievable20

We already have enough midfielders who aren't good enough defensively - James13

Agree1 Disagree1

No place for sneijder here already enough depth with mata, Oscar, Marin, Moses, hazard

Ed02: Chaloba's initial loan spell is over tommorow and he is due back at Chelsea. I understand both clubs are happy with the way the player isprogressing on this loan spell. At the same time we are getting thinner at midfield with Obi out for AFCON. Is it an option to have Chslobah back for the whole of January and let him go on loan at the end on the month? Or will we just rely on what we have in the building?

JG {Ed002's Note - Others have returned from loan who are far more likely to appear in the matchday squad at some point.}

The future is bright for CFC. If anyone has stopped to look at the youth that we have eg- piazon, josh, chabaloah, ake, kalas, bruma, bertrand, blackman, the musonda brothers(mainly the younger one) feruz, i cant help but get excited.

Technically we could also say that eden hazard(a kind of player who can turn a game on his own, only done it 2 or 3 times this season at the beginning but as years go on he will become more and more influential), oscar(who has incredible potential but isnt there yet) and azpilicueta(who i think is great and could be our right back for a very long time), can all be added to that list with their age. mata isnt too shabby either ;) added to the experience or cech, lamps, cole and JT(as a bit part player though) we could have a proper squad here.......

IF! We get a manager who isnt pressured into getting instant success. LIke our previous 9 managers have all know that they will be sacked without a troophy. If all this youth isnt going to go to waste then we need a little bit more stability at least. A manager who can intergrate the youth when they are ready . Some like Chalobah and Piazon are starting to get close and this always happens. They get close but then cant quite make it into the first team because all the managers simply cant afford the risk of them making a mistake which is sad. BUt i am begging RA to sort this outbecause a whole lot or talent is gonna go down the drain otherwise. The best candidates for doing this are: Pep, Loew, Benitez and maybe the special one IMO.

Regarding Transfers for Jan and the summer i think we need:

a center back
a left back is cole leaves which i hope he doesnt
a right back as back up for azpi
(possibly fellaini for a bit of muscle)
a winger
2 strikers.

2 strikers I think should be Demba Ba and Walcott, because ba is a proven goalscorer and would fit in well and would go some way to increasing our physical presence up top. and walcott for the reason that he is british and can play winger or striker. In the summer i say replace Torres with either Falcao or Cavani(who might be better suited to the PL) And in 18 months replace demba ba with Lukaku cuz i honestly believe this guy is great and is the closest thing to Drogba we are ever going to get.

Thoughts?
Alessandro

Believable6 Unbelievable8

Agree with everything except the need for a new centre back, right back, and even winger. If we want to give the kids a chance, as fans we need to not immediately look to buy replacements. Still, in the immediate future a strong tackling midfielder and 2 strikers are needed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thoughts? You must have a pretty rubbish team if it requires that much fixing! Not the post of a true supporter.

Agree1 Disagree0

Those positions were meant as back up to the current players being used. e.g with luiz now in midfield, we only have 3 cbs and we should have 4 really. it was more about strength in depth.

Alessandro

Agree0 Disagree0

Torres is epic though innit

Agree0 Disagree1

I agree but cole still looks like he might leave and walcott is about to sign a new contract at arsenal. btw i agree about fellaini

Ed,
With talks with Demba Ba not going anywhere and Falcao not wanting to move until the summer, who do you think we realistically stand a chance of signing in January
Thanks a lot, have a happy new year Ed! {Ed002's Note - Yes.}

This I what I'd like to see come the end of January, considering that Falcao and Cavani are looking unlikely at the moment.

In: Walcott - Would be relatively cheap considering he has only 6 months left on his contract, still only 23, homegrown, a great guy apparently with better attitude than Sturridge. Could become World class striker IMO.

Villa (loan) - I'm not totally sure how likely this deal is but it makes sense in my eyes if a possibility. Villa has been overshadowed in his time at Barca by Messi, but looking at his scoring record is remarkable, especially as he is played on the wing most if the time. Even since his leg break has maintained his scoring record of practically 1 goal every 2 games, and the loan would mean we could pursue our main targets in the summer.

Leighton Baines - it is looking very likely that Ashley cole will be leaving in the next 6 months. Baines has now developed into a world class left back in the past couple of seasons. He puts a shift in for his team and there are not many better at putting a quality ball into the box. Apparently he was the first in all 5 of the top European league to create 50 chances for his team. He is also homegrown and hasn't got a ego. Would cost around £15-£20m, but would earn less than what A. Cole is on at the moment.

Frank Lampard (contract) - frank is still up there with the best Central midfielders we have. If Obi Mikel or Oscar were playing instead of Frank at Everton we wouldn't have won. He seems to compose everyone around him when the team is under pressure during a game. When frank has started in the Prem this season we haven't lost... I'm not wanting to keep him because he is a legend and has a great past at the club but because he offers the team something NOW. I do believe that his time will come though, but that is in a couple of years time.

Out:

A. Cole - I think time has come for Ashley to move on. Unlike Lamps he has been offered a new deal but couldn't reach an agreement. I think his heart is set on a move to another country tbh. His form hasn't been as impressive this season as previous and errors are creeping into his game. I think now would be a good time to cash in on him and if we could get approximately £5m for him in January I would take it, as we could also get him off the wage bill 6 months earlier.

Believable8 Unbelievable10

Why in the world would we let Cole go without a replacement, last I checked Baines wasn't available. Also its easy to get caught up in the moment, Lamps at this stage of his career is one dimensional - just a scorer. When was the last time he made a game winning or changing play such as a tackle or pass or anything other than a goal.

Agree1 Disagree1

Ava word with urself mate, just watch the champs league semi vs barca last year if you want to see what else frank brings to the table , it ain't just goals.
Next time u watch cfc try going to a game to get the full impact of what the players do not just sit on your sofa listening to the pundits views.

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe Man U enquire about Baines during the summer and were told he is available for £15m.

Mate goals win games you person! Scoring goals is more important than a game changing tackle! I think I've just seen the site clown raise his head! Lampard is still one of the first names of the sheet for me!

Has to be falcao, he is the only one who can answer our prayers, I would be very happy with both Cavani or higuain, but falcao is by far the best, he is world class and we should do everything we possibly can before it is too late

Believable13 Unbelievable4

Falcao is best but cavani suits prem alot, big strong quick but falcao movement and finishing is in real

Too late we have snapped up demba

I used to be a regular poster on this forum before. These days I just follow discussions here and there. I must say that I am impressed with how Rafa has once again made us defensively sound. We probably ain't as attacking as we were whilst under RDM but the balance feels right now.

Lampard Should get signed up even though I believe it is very unlikely now. His a proven goal scorer and can come off the bench to grab goals in the future top. If not for lamps we wouldn't have had them goals against Everton yesterday. As a holding midfielder role I wouldn't have expected mikel nor ramires to be so far in the opposition box trying to get goals.

David Luiz has been a big hit in midfield. Rafa deserves credit where it's due

Shak

Believable10 Unbelievable3

Yeah lamps is a big voice in the changing room, we still need his experience for sure. hes on 6 goals and hardly featured. rafa gets my credit! we were so flat & predictable under RDM. BLUEBOY1

I said this from day one, that Rafa is a good manager regardless of previous problems. He is a excellent tactician who is winning us games.

Happy Days.

ED002 when is the club able to register a newly signed player, already 1st of January or the 2nd?
Johnnycfc {Ed002's Note - The transfer is only completed when the paperwork submitted by the clubs has been processed and international clearance obtained.}

Ed, please clarify: meeting representatives of a player but not the player himself constitutes tapping up? But don't these covert 'contacts' between club and various agents (of various players) take place all the time? I was under the impression that only direct meetings between player and club, without leave, was tapping up. So a meeting between Ba's 'reps' and Chelsea skirts the rules but is technically permitted. Sorry for rehashing the whole Ba thing but this aspect of the discussion confused me. {Ed002's Note - It is not skirting the rules, players representatives and agents meet with clubs all of the time.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

That's what I said. "Skirting" because it bypasses direct contact prohibited by the rules but effectively contacting the player anyway through intermediaries (in a way that doesn't violate those rules). In which case the hypothetical meeting scheduled for yesterday wasn't tapping up. When negotiations can so easily be delegated to proxies, isn't the tapping-up rule effectively obsolete? {Ed002's Note - Agents and representatives meet with clubs all of the time - it is perfectly allowable and not bending or stretching any rules. What is not allowable is what I was being told yesterday that Ba was meeting with Chelsea. It wasted a great deal of my time and I got large amounts of pretty foul abuse over it. I really have little interest in prolonging discussion on the matter.}
