Are chelsea interested in Ali Adnan, he plays left back I think? If not, which teams are?
It's just that you said the lb situation might not be resolved very easily. I read someone's remarks concerning Adnan, that he's physically immense (strong, tall, fast and athletic ala Ronaldo). That person also said he's got good set piece deliveries and looks very talented. He plays in a lesser known league for a relatively small club so could possibly be a cheaper alternative.
Thanks for any info on him Ed, keep up the fantastic work.

{Ed002's Note - Ali Adnan is not expected to move from Turkey, but Fenerbahce has shown interest if they cannot strike a deal with Erkin.}

Alright, I trust the club's scouts. Thanks for the intell Ed.

Hey ED, Is it true chelsea have bid for Mehdi Benatia?

Believable1 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - I appreciate that the Italian press have speculated over recent months that there is interest from Manchester United in Benatia, but there is no confirmation of that interest at this time and he is not expected to move to England. Manchester City are very interested and both Bayern Munich and Barcelona have said he is a player they very much like but it will be difficult to persuade Roma to sell and they can, right now, not complete all of their planned transfers. Chelsea will look toward him if they are to lose Ivanovic or can't get a deal for Varane. Manchester City has had two bids turned down.}

Thanks ed for the updates I now zero my mind to players on interest list. Few questions pls. In your previous posts you talked about chelsea having a vested interest in Markovic and the intentions to let him be at Benfica for two years except if other clubs are trying to get him. Is that still the situation or are chelsea now seeing him as being ready for the premiership? You also said that chelsea shrugged at price quoted to them for Calhanoglu. Are chelsea now ready to meet the asking price or has the price changed? I prefer him to Kroos except if Chelsea is willing to let an attacking midfielder go. Forgive my long post.

Believable0 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - (a) The club don't see Markovic as ready just yet and would rather do nothing right now. (b) Nothing has changed regarding Calhanoglu as far as I know.}

Have we shown any interest in Lanzini ed

Believable0 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - Lanzini has been watched by a number of clubs with interest being shows from as far a field as the Middle East and Japan. Lazio and Roma have made their interest known.}

So from ed002 new update on interested players who do you guys think. And let's try and be a little realistic, I've read few reports now and we do have the finances to really go shopping and more so with Luiz sale and departures of possible some those on the list

{Ed002's Note - Be careful here it is not that simple. It is easy to blurt out names, but you need to think what is practical. There is a clear interest in Pogba or Vidal and Juve will need to sell one or the other to get other business done. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, PSG et al are interested - so it is not going to be easy. Left back - if there was a chance of an easy deal for Shaw Chelsea would have dealt with the matter in January. Moving on - Moreno, not simple and not encouraging for the club. Filipe, expensive and simple - but older and not long term. Others - are they better than Bertrand or van Aanholt? It is not easy. So see this in a shifting context - the information is as good as today around midday. It will change. I asked about Tiago who is seemingly a "done deal" and got the shrug and conjecture I gave you a couple of days ago - I know nothing about it, but as cover, yeah, maybe it makes sense.}

I understand, we all do appreciate the effort and time thou ed., sorry. Who was it again who shrugged there shoulders when asked of tiago? Lol

{Ed002's Note - I did, as did my early lunch companion who was heading back to Toulon.

Cheers ed. Just hope we but wisely, soon as World Cup starts there will be more rumours and a lot of changes to that list I'm sure.,

{Ed002's Note - You are right Matt.}

It is a very good point you are bringing here, ED002 - are the rest of possible left back targets better than van Aanholt and Bertrand? I don't think getting Filipe Luis at that fee makes sense. He's 28. He's a decent player, of course, but he ain't Cole and never will become. Azpi had agreat season and aside from Shaw I don't see anyone of them being a better solution mid to long term.

I think if we can't get Shaw, then we should probably just get either of our loaned out guys back for next season and possibly get back into the market later.

On the other matter. Read that Loic Remy is being made available. The quoted fee is smth. like 8 million. He'd definitely be an upgrade over Ba and Eto'o, in my opinion.
