ED002 Jason Burt of the Sunday Telegraph says that Chelsea are after Demba Ba as it appears Falcao will remain at Athletico till the summer also that we have been Offered Negredo for £16 Million as you have said before Jason Burt is probably the most reliable Journalist is there interest in Ba that you know of?

BLUEBLOOD {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of interest. I understand that Newcastle are still likely to get offers for Demba Ba from QPR and Galatasaray and that there may be interest from Anzhi Makhachkala and lingering interest from Lokomotiv Moscow. It is possible he will move but he would look for a Champions League side. He and his agent are trying to court Arsenal although they seemingly have other preferred targets at this time. His agent has also mentioned Germany as a possible destination. And he could be very expensive to buy for a non-CL side, has additional agent fees hanging over his transfer anywhere, high wage expectations and high insurance costs.}

Is there any interest in Taison ED?

cfc1905 {Ed002's Note - Taison was considered over the summer by Chelsea but I am not aware of any agreement. Aston Villa's interest disappeared when it appear issues associated with obtaining a work permit may be difficult to resolve. Bayer Leverkusen looked at Taison as a replacement for Schurrle.}

If Walcott is not signing on what he has there on the table, we should come in. Absolute upgrade over Sturridge or Kalou. At 23 sky is the limit. Homegrown, popular, lightning fast. Now to all that he is scoring at will. Table a bid!

Good Finisher Too ..

Agree0 Disagree0

I got to admit that I wasn't a fan of the lad but he seems to have found his position up front. Could also provide cover for us at RW, plus has a better attitude than Sturridge if he were sitting on the bench. The deal makes sense and would be a great one!

MB

Agree0 Disagree0

I like him a lot because he can play out wide so when we bring lukaku back for good you can still keep him to play out wide and he would bring some wheels off the bench. Overall I think he would be good business.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I went through the search function and didn't find any definite answer...I saw you said Napoli rejected a bid of app. 55 million € for Cavani...this shows to me that Chelsea are quite serious to get him to say the least..do you expect Chelsea to return to Napoli in January with another bid? Also, who do you think would be Chelsea's primary target if both were to be available, Cavani or Falcao?

Just saw that Cavani has a release clause of 60 million €, same as Falcao....Do you see us activating this clause Ed?

(As you probably noticed, I'm DESPERATE for another striker! I'm dreaming what would be if we had a genuine world class striker with our magicians behind him...) {Ed002's Note - THis has all be answered in other posts.}

Believable8 Unbelievable2

I prefer Cavani to Falcao just because he's got more pace I think he'd suit the Premier league more.

If we want to win a couple of trophies this season e.g FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League then we can't buy a striker who will simply just 'do a job' because were going to not have enough firepower to win anything. And if someone like Michael Emenalo or Ambramovich thinks players who we've been linked with like Negredo, Villa or Remy will be good enough they are wrong.

If Falcao doesn't want to leave until the summer then a mammoth bid for Cavani or a smaller bid for someone else who is world class like Higuain or Llorente needs to be made because if we buy two players like Negredo and Bony we'll be lucky to get top four and the carling cup.

It will be interesting to see what happens during the window but I feel if we get a great striker it will more than likely be Cavani than Falcao.

is there any chance we will recall de bruyne and bruma for the begining of next season? {Ed018's Note - De Bruyne will be back in the summer, but there certainly has been no decisio mad on if he will be loaned back out or not, Bruma I expect to be sold}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Thank you ed shame i thought bruma could be groomed into a top centre back

Ed 002 Seem to be a few new rumours about Cavani is that the usual nonsense or is there any substance to it?
Thanks.

Rodrigo would make a smart signing for Chelsea. He is young with bags of pace as well as a cool head in front of goal. He will fit in with the Brazilian and Spanish contingent that Chelsea has accumulated, as well as the fact that he is technically adept to help with attacking play. Also due to the quality of league he is playing in he will surely be acquired for less than the likes of Falcao, Lewandowski and Cavani.

If we have a bad January and lose to Everton tomorrow I wouldn't put it past Roman to put in a mega bid for a player to make sure we get top 4. {Ed002's Note - You mean like Cavani?}

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Wouldn't expect us to lose tomorrow were on a good run even though they are Fellaini is banned we should be too strong in midfield

CfcBenWxm

Agree0 Disagree0

We need a top player even if we go unbeaten all threw january
kevinCFC

Agree1 Disagree0

Agree with you Kevin only Falcao or Cavani will do.

Were only a couple of players away from having a great side

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea - everton games are always unpredictable

Agree1 Disagree0

So it was Roman with the 55mill Euros bid?

A11 {Ed002's Note - It is true that Napoli rejected two offers that equated to roughly 55M euros - one from Chelsea in cash and one another involving Giovinco and Matri plus a pile of cash that was offered by Juventus to no avail.}

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Dec 2012 21:30:07
And yes I do mean like Cavani sorry forgot to sign the original post.
I agree with everyone we need to buy big player no matter what but what I meant was if negotiations weren't going to plan Roman would put in a say £50mill offer a club couldn't refuse.

A11

Agree0 Disagree0

Honestly if the club genuinely believe some player to be a superstriker, say Cavani or Falcao. And if the club is willing to go as high as 50 mil, then there definitely should be no problem to go 55 or 60. Which in fact is over the buy out clauses of both players. Therefor i believe it'sabout player wishes and contractual demands, rather than transfer fees. Correct me if i'm wrong Ed.

JG {Ed002's Note - Don't read too much in to "buy out" clauses - sales to Chelsea cannot be forced. Cavani did not wish to sell Cavani in the summer. Atletico know they will end up letting Falcao leave and one of the owners would like funds now, but they would rather wait until the summer.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Any chance we'll go back for Cavani with a bid possibly even higher in January? Let's say both, Cavani and Falcao were to be available during the summer, who would be Chelsea's primary target? {Ed002's Note - The summer is a long way off.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002, but wasn't that bid in the summer? Is there going to be a fresh bid in this window made by chelsea that ur aware of?

Thanks
Ads {Ed002's Note - Those bids were made in the summer, yes. I get abused when I provide anything regrding upcoming transfers so feel free to speculate all you want.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I won't be speculating. I appreciate ur time and don't agree with the abuse that ppl post.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, jerks will remain jerks whether you answer them or not. People over here are expecting Falcao and are rather possibly "upset" over, say Negredo. If the club sees him as an option, available, affordable, etc., so be it. Frankly noone expected much from Anelka when he came, but hey he became EPL season top goalscorer, albeit at 18 goals.

Anyways, the way i see it is if a player is willing to come and his expectations are met, the buy out price solves it, doesn't it?

JG {Ed002's Note - Don't make too much of the "buy out" clauses.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Alright no more going there. Simply, are we willing to spend something that will please DeLaurentis, Cavani and his reps and could land us the guy?

JG {Ed002's Note - It is not simply a case of saying there is £xM available. Yopu cannot forget the player in the process. That is why Messi will not be moving to Anzhi in January.}

Agree0 Disagree0

This is what i am talking about. Are neither Cavani nor Falcao willing to move to Chelsea, or their contractual demands are beyond smth. we are not gonna go to? I understand it is not as easy as i have put it out, but do you expect either one of them at CFC?

JG {Ed002's Note - In the summer Napoli did not want to sell Cavani so the bid was rejected. As far as Falcao goes, one of the owners would like some money now but Atletico Madrid, whilst accepting they will lose him at some point and actively looking for a replacement, do not want him to leave in January.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank you Ed02. feel a little stupid typing this Ed moniker everytime. Thank you again Charles, Steve, Ron, Dave, well you can type it in:) Cheers mate, JG

Hi Ed,
With Mikel of to the the ACN amd Romeu out for six months do you expect Chelsea to be looking to sign a defensive midfielder in January?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - It is not a priority right now.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I think playing Luiz in holding midfield has solved that conundrum {Ed002's Note - I think sufficient cover will be available for any emergencies.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd rather just recall McEachran

Luiz and oscar can fill in when needed

ED002 i tryed the search function but all the answers for Negredo are from previous months are we interested in signing him? {Ed002's Note - Seems that discussion of Negredo leads to abuse - so he is off the agenda.}

29 Dec 2012 17:00:09
And our first real signing in January will be... ROMELU LUKAKU: young, strong, can find the net, and Belgian. This shd be an upgrade to Fernando Torres. U heard it here first.

Hey ed, are chelsea interested in leandro damiao (the Brazilian striker who plays for internacional)? I remember him publically saying that he would like to move to the premier league in the near future and in particular be reunited with Oscar. He's only 23 and already established in the Brazilian national team so he wouldn't be a bad target. {Ed002's Note - Leandro Damiao remains of interest to several clubs including Spurs, Arsenal, PSG, Roma, Sporting Lisbon, Inter, Milan and Juventus. Lyon and Barcelona seem to have dropped any interest they had in the player. January 2013 may be a likely time to move. The summer saw rejected bids from Spurs and PSG. Inter, Roma or Juventus may force a move - and these remain the most likely destinations right now. His club value him at an unrealistic 60M euro and don't want to sell. The player says wants to move to Chelsea but their interest would only be there if other targets were not achievable.}

Ed002, Will Chelsea be looking to sign 2 forwards in this coming January transfer window? If so have any current Premier League players been considered? Thank You in advance. {Ed002's Note - They will not buy for the sake of buying but if the desired players are available then yes. If not the club will wait until the desired players are available. You need to remember that Anelka, Kalou and Drogba have effectively left with really only Moses coming in. Now with Sturridge leaving the club will be looking to do something to resolve this matter.}
