i think if chelsea were to sign pereira they would play him at the holding midfeild position, kind of what Real Madrid are doing with coentrao. What do you think?
Matt {Ed018's Note - im not sure that would be the first option for him on the field}

Believable2 Unbelievable2

I reckon lw or if that doesn't work lb with cole at lw this is because i think malouda will be sold

Agree0 Disagree0

I would play him down the left, with Mata sweeping accross the park behind the striker and Sturridge down the right, a lot of pace, creativity and versatility with Alvaro being able to cover the whole of the left side as well as beng able to come inside a bit.

Agree0 Disagree0

Y would they do that when they have just signed Romeu and have Mikel, Luiz and Essien tht cn also play there?

Agree0 Disagree0

Mikel needs to be sold because he can't pass,tackle, or run and we need good wingers if mata plays behind torres

just want to let people who don't already know know that when it says chelsea have agreed a deal for van der wiel worth 32million that means all his wages for his 5 years at the club. The fee is not 32million but a lesser undisclosed amount.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Phew. Thought that was hell of lotta money for a player earlier quoted at being priced at around 10-15 million. Cheers for the insight, if true.
Scotty.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have we actually bid for him or is it all just BS?

Modric will be signed, heard it from me first.

Believable9 Unbelievable3

You aren't the first to report this.

Agree0 Disagree0

What makes u so sure?

Agree0 Disagree0

Believe in me, happened with berbatov, I'm pretty sure it'll happen with Modric, Spurs dont want an unhappy player do they?

Agree0 Disagree0

But the problem is that It's become a owner
prestige issue...so he is simply not selling modric or it may be they just waiting to see how much chelsea can offer,so they get the maximum possible from the deal.

Porto's Alvaro Pereira
close to joining
Chelsea - report
The Uruguayan
defender seems to be
to be close to a move
to the London-based
side after negotiations
between the two
clubs previously
appeared to have hit a
stalemate.
Alvaro Pereira,
Porto
Porto left-back
Alvaro Pereira is on
the brink of joining
Chelsea, according
to a report in news
daily O JOGO.
The Uruguayan
star has been
strongly tipped to
reunite with ex-
Porto boss Andre
Villas-Boas at
Stamford Bridge
as the Blues look
for a replacement
for Yuri Zhirkov.
Porto president
Pinto da Costa
revealed on
Thursday he had
rejected an offer
from Chelsea for
Pereira
, believed to be
worth €20 million,
as it fell short of
the player's €30m
valuation.
Villas-Boas raised
serious doubts
about the success
of the deal later
day that after
claiming the two
clubs were still
'very far apart in
terms of numbers'
.
However,
Portuguese
sources now
suggest Pereira's
transfer to
Chelsea could be
completed on
Monday for a fee
which
stands closer to
the defender's
release-clause,
with performance-
related bonuses
included in the
deal. Ed please do u think this rumour is real? {Ed018's Note - you have to start typing this out better. why only 2 or 3 words across. I'm not sure if they are getting closer in the price yet}

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Was just about to say its a computer not a small typewriter don't have to press enter every few words

Agree0 Disagree0

It was a cut and paste ed, something that you can do when you lit the words rom another report like a newspaper article online {Ed001's Note - you can also edit it to leave out the line breaks every couple of words, not really difficult to do you know.}

Ed,

Do you expect us to be successful in our pursuit of modric?

Sam {Ed002's Note - What pursuit?}

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Do you expect Chelsea to sign modric before the transfer window shuts?

Agree0 Disagree0

Three days left and still chelsea is making us believe modric is better than sneijder. if they really want him they must pay big and get him or get sneijder instead. he is even a better chlsealike material than dimunitive modric

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed the question is
Clear and simple {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of it.}

Hi eds, could Chelsea be tempted to test some of the Arsenal players resolve, after their total humiliation by Utd? Someone like Wilshere or Ramsey would replace our Modric interest. If Arsenal will let Cesc & Nasri go- maybe chelsea can be persuasive aswell. {Ed018's Note -i don't think Aresenal is gonna sell anymore. they have done enough damage}

Believable3 Unbelievable1

No of course not from Arsenals point of view. But its difficult to keep players who want to leave or who are unhappy.... Maybe Chelsea should test this with a public bid for Wilshere.
Can't hurt can it..
Cheers guys

Ed, I'm scared. This looks like the season if Manchester. {Ed018's Note - they are both looking very good right now, but it is a long season}

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Argh dont worry man Arsenal was playing crap and the goals were not all impressive to be fair it was a test for the inexperienced arsenal side which will have to fight for a europa league spot for next season. Chelsea will go all the way we got the depth and a hungry manager and team ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2011 17:17:42
Has the signing of the new Mexican kid been a substitute option over de bruyne? Also would it be fair to say that modric and periera coming isn't far fetched {Ed018's Note - i don't think he was signed in place of De Bruyne. Modric and Periera, not far fetched to me}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

28 Aug 2011 16:21:09
ED, do you know who is most likely to be our final signing of the season or if anyone else is coming in at all? I think with one last high quality signing preferably in center midfield we can be strong challengers this season. {Ed018's Note - i think there will be 2 more signings yet}

Believable7 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2011 15:47:03
ED I have been hearing a lot if reports that Chelsea are set to sign VDW for around 25-32 million do you know of any deal?

R {Ed018's Note - i don't know of any deal and can't believe it would be that much}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

28 Aug 2011 15:42:07
Edd, what kind of movement do you see in the next couple days? any ideas of last minute offers? {Ed018's Note - i still say Modric}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Two midfilders; one defensive and an offensive one, otherwise get sneijder , hes got them both. also tell avb to relief lampard of the hard football labour, he is tired ,hes weak and slow. bench him now

Agree0 Disagree0

50 million for player again that man is overrated

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2011 15:23:08
Eds, why is it that we have 2of the best strikers in the world both 3games into the new season both struggling for goals? I mean Rooney is off the mark, even Dzeko is scoring for fun now. I hope that we bring in atleast 2more world class attackers that can both create and score goals by the end of the window. Otherwise I fear the worst, Juan Mata looks like he's guna be good for us but I dnt see him being enough. We need match winners, dribblers, players that can worry teams like the other big dogs have. {Ed018's Note - i dont think we need to at to our forwards but we need players to create. and mata will definitley help.}

Believable5 Unbelievable1

28 Aug 2011 13:45:00
Inter Milan midfield ace Wesley Sneijder is on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich's radar.

With a move to Manchester United now unlikely - and having been turned down by Manchester City - Sneijder could get his England move with Chelsea. Any truth in this ed? {Ed018's Note - i don't think so. i just don't see how they would ever come to terms on the wages}

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Hes 27, would have no resale value and his wages are going to be at best around 200k a week. Its just not plausable or justifiable. Thiago Alacantara would be a better bet, young, low wages and a player for the future who is not going to get the playing time he wants this year.

PB

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he will.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd rather take the youngster coutinho sp? From inter. Looks like a great prospect.

Agree0 Disagree0

A Dream too good to be true

Agree0 Disagree0

His resale value is irrelevant. Torres is 27 and the club will never get money like that for him again. His wage demands are insane, only city would be able to match them. Thiago is not moving this year. He is an incredible talent I agree, but so is Josh. No point in buying another talented youngster who's been knocking around a first team squad for a year, albeit a very good first team squad.

Blue25

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you ed on the wages part but you didnt deny that chelsea have an intrest in him. do they? {Ed018's Note - i doubt it}

Agree0 Disagree0

Great player, but the wage demands are too much if he would agree to lower them then great but can't see it happening, Modric is still gonna come.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2011 11:55:55
Ed, how come the clubs can afford to wait until the very last minute to do deals for players. I mean I remember the Robiniho to City deal, they come in the very last hour and took him from under our noses. How do they have time for medicals and what not in the last hour etc etc? {Ed002's Note - It is not done deliberately. Sometimes there are exceptions like Robinho and Berbatov.}

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Real madrid apparently refused to sell him to us because on the website they advertised robinho shirts before he signed...i believe he would have been ours otherwise.

ed002, has been a solid start to the season. Mata looks exceptional talent, with Lukaku a monster in att and Sturidge coming back in after a pretty stellar pre season is beginning to give me confidence.

The question I have is does Hulk have a preference for where he may eventually move to if he does leave porto? did AVB and Hulk have a good relationship? Would he want to follow his former coach?
I realise you cannot speak for Hulk or AVB so I am asking if either of the two has publicly stated such things?

Obviously I think the bloke would bring an unmatchable creative quality, and teaming up with mata looks traumatising for oppisition defences across the world.

Do you expect a move for him any time soon?

Thanks for all the terrific work in these exciting transfer periods and any insight you could give.

Melbourne CFC {Ed002's Note - I am afraid I simply cannot answer - I don't know what Hulk expects of his future.}

We dont need VDW Bosigwa is playing brilliant now

Believable8 Unbelievable7

That maybe, but as soon as the window closes he'l take his foot off the gas knowing he only has ivanovic to keep out. And lets be honest you dont expect Bosingwa to go the rest of the season without picking up an injury do u? I mean u no how prone he is to the odd bang and knock.

Agree0 Disagree0

We absolutely need VdW, we don't have a RB of his age or of his quality. Ferreira won't be around much longer and Bosingwa is pretty injury prone as well as suspect defensively. Think of the future not the present.

Agree0 Disagree0

32million fir a right back?

Agree0 Disagree0

If we do indeed buy VDW it wont be anywhere near the £32m you think, If he is purchased this season and that is a BIG if i would be surprised if he costs anything over £20m

PB

Agree0 Disagree0

Bosingwa has looked good going forward but it his lack of defensive skills that are a worry.

what is hamisk's price tag?

blues boy

Believable4 Unbelievable0

It will be very high, Napoli have very rich owners now so dont need to sell any of there top players, the only way we could get him is if the playr comes out and says he wants a move. You'd be looking at in excess of £25M+ easily which is alot of money.

PB

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think thats much of an issue for Chelsea, if they want him then im more than sure they will get him. I for one have'nt seen enough of the player to comment or make an estimate.

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon 25 to 30m would be a fair price. A great player who could really improve our team. I would love to see him or Mario Gotze move to the bridge.
Scotty.

Agree0 Disagree0

Krasic would be a better option as it would allows to move on the deadwood that is Malouda. FM and 20m ould get us Krasic and he can play anywhere along the midfield line.

WHo is Ulises Davila? (I mean, I know he is 20 and that he played for CHivas Guadalajara) I haven't seen him playing, just a couple of minutes when Chivas played vs Barcelona. Does he look great? In some news he appears as striker, and in other news he appears as midfielder, where does he play?.
He is going on loan to Vitesse, right?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I have seen bits of him on youtube which is not the best to watch a player but he looks quick and skillful he plays upfront or am i believe

Very busy last two days for chelsea.i can confirn that tottenham have blown chances for tge modric deal by asking for 40m. Instead, marek hamsik of napoli will sign for 24m leaving money for a 26m bi for hazard to be made. If both sing expect malouda anelka to leave

Am i the only one who thinks chelsea should go in for porto's James David Rodriguez?d kid is a delight to watch plus he scores reasonable amount of goals for a winger.i think AVB will be able to convince him to join knowin he bought the playa for porto last year.him nd a vry gud CAM(not necessarily modric) will b d end of our attacking problems believe me.something tells me cfc may b making an underground bid...u neva knw,lets jst wait nd see.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I agree, but i think it is very unlikely

Agree0 Disagree0

No way as it right for people to boo our own players for years iv'e taken a lot of pride in the fact that chelsea fans have always supported our less talented or out of form players. And now the johnny come latelys who have been spoiled by success are ruining that part of our reputation.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2011 01:43:28
Ed, is it right for these supposadly loyal Chelsea fans to judge and boo certain players? Personally I dont think it helps with any confidence issues the player may be having and what not. Malouda today did'nt look to great, but I think Mata will now be his successor. For me using a player like Malouda as cover from the bench is'nt all that bad, so for me i'd say our left wing was pretty much covered. as for the right im not so sure, ppl seem to think that Sturridge will play there though correct me if i'm wrong but i'm sure he specificaly said something about only wanting to play as an out and out striker and knowhere else did'nt he? Even if he did'nt I still don't see it being as effective as say playing an out an out right winger there instead. Or even bringing in a top class wing bk rather. What are your thoughts on this ed and what would you say the chances of a more right sided player coming in would be? {Ed002's Note - I think fans should get behind the players at the club and give them support. Sturridge played well on the right in pre-season - don't write him off just yet.}

Hi ED, Malouda of recent has seen a drop in form and with fresh reports of him departing coupled with poor performances i was just wondering what our transfer situation is regaurding the wing position and if where scouting any of the following ie; Watching brief, enquires, talks between clubs and or bids for example.

- Eden Hazard
- Eljero Elia
- Adam Johnson
- Kevin De Bruyne (Injury Update?)

Thanks

Hi Ed two players who have caught my eye this season so far are Julien Hoylett of Blackburn and Ross Barkley of Everton. Both are young and english and look very promising for the future. Do you think our scouting team will be looking at these players and what are your thoughts on them?

Also after Mata's 20min performance today £23.5m looks a bargain for what he will bring to our team. I would think he could also be our star in midfield that we have been looking for and should turn our attention back to the wings as Mata at CAM looks perfect.

PB {Ed002's Note - I have no idea if either have been looked, sorry.}
