This is a question for any of the Eds. Is Jorge Mendez still working on a deal to bring griezmann to Chelsea? Thank you

Thank you Ed! I think all Chelsea fans on this site are really hopeful of this deal. I truly think it could help Chelsea move to that next level. What's everyone's opinion? And do fans think this deal will happen?

I'm skeptical regarding Griezmann. Not convinced he'd be a great fit in our team.

{Ed018's Note - Jackson he's proven that he can score and we need some help with that. Can't rely on just Costa and Hazard for that. To me this would be the most important signing of the summer}

I think griezmann could bring us something we haven't had before in a player that could play on the wing and as a striker. We tried it a few times with schurrle and it didn't work but I think griezmann is very capable of leading the line if Costa gets injured.

I have to agree with ed18. He's the one player I most want us to sign this summer. I think he'd take our attack to the next level and make us a lot more dangerous.

I think a player such as Griezmann would offer us to be more versatile in terms of formation options. could play out wide or just off the main striker. With Bayern & PSG both interested we'll be hard pushed to get it done but I'd be very happy if we did!

Ed018, I agree that we need an extra player that can score with some frequency. And again true, Griezmann has shown that he gets in scoring positions and can finish. However, he's never really played on the right side of the pitch, at least not when he's stood out. From reading up on him it seems that he either plays on the left, in support of the striker or just as a striker himself. I'm guessing people on here would put him on the right wing in our team. It could end up fitting nicely, but I'm not sure whether it would.
Also with Traore getting a permit, I'm guessing he'd still be loaned out if someone like Griezmann was bought. I'd hate to see Traore away from the first team again next season as I think he could actually score some goals from the wing position once he gets used to the Premier League.
Obviously I'd be happy if he joined us, but I wouldn't be too sad if he stayed at Atletico.

I would play griezmann at no10 behind Costa with hazard and Willian on the wings

I understand jacksons sentiment in terms of not proving his ability on the right. I also agree that this might lead to a logjam with wingers, which would see somebody sold/loaned, although Willian can play centrally. With that said short of a signing like pogba, a right winger who really threatens defenses would result in a more immediate improvement than any other signing we can make. Also wouldn't want to put him in the number 10 spot as Jose asks that role to do something entirely different than the usual role.

Griezmann I am sure is Chelsea's targeted 'marquee' signing unless they swing Pogba and he fits the Mourinho style of a hardworking player and scored goals in a tricky league to score regularly. The one area several have touched on is "where will he play" as to leave Willian out would be tragic as his work rate is phenomenal but his Achilles Heel being he was bought to score as well as run around so there is an issue to be resolved. Also since Drogba's demise we really do not have anyone in the centre for crosses as Costa is not particularly strong in the air so are we going to have another season where we try and walk the ball in the net which comes unstuck when teams pack their defence?
