De Laurentiis (Napoli Chairman) has said: "Cavani is not for sale, but we could consider it if a crazy person gave me 100million Euros."
Makes the Cavani deal seem even more unlikely now.

Believable6 Unbelievable6

The Napoli chairman is one of the most excentric in football! Some of the prices he quotes are ridiculous, however he is know for it. In January he stated that they wouldnt sell Lavezzi for anything less than £40 mil plus, and he has just gone to Psg for £25 mil....?

Agree0 Disagree0

That Napoli guy talks buLls**t all the time.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think we need him anyway. Keep Lukaku, we don't need Hulk or Cavani. It will just make Torres unsettled and he would be unsure of the boards confidence behind him. IF we sell Sturridge, then a good backup striker should be bought, who's also young. Lewandowski or Jovetic instead of Cavani or Hulk in my opinion would be best.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can people please stop putting forward this absolute BS notion that we shouldn't buy a top forward because Torres might get unhappy and nervous and worry he isn't number 1. It is absolute BS. Are you proposing we close the gap on City who have 4 top strikers by using 1? Torres the main man? Get real. Seriously turn it in. Anelka, Drogba, Kalou have all left. We need Hulk or Cavani and another top striker at least if we are going to consider winning the league. Don't forget the FA Cup, Champs League, Carling Cup, Super Cup and World Club Championship either. If Torres isn't able to deal with competition and raise his game and perform for the team then that's his problem. We can't leave ourselves short of striking options because Torres gets all nervous feels like people don't have confidence in him. The argument is pure hot-air and I wish people would stop posting it. Torres will be fine i'm sure next season as Drogba is probably the only player who could devour him in terms of competition and he is now gone. Ancelotti said this once if you google it, 'Drogba devours the competition'. He did it to Kezman, Crespo, Shevchenko, Torres. But he's gone! Also don't forget that Torres is also due an injury, he hasn't been injured once since joining. Seriously please stop this argument. Thanks - James13

Agree1 Disagree0

Hulk would be a fantastic signing. We are starting to lack some physical presence in attacking areas and he will give that in abundance in addition to blistering pace. - James13

Agree0 Disagree0

James 13 is spot on! We need another world class forward, cavani would be my chose but not for 100m!
Blue aero

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally in agreement with James13

Agree0 Disagree0

I could not have said any better James. You are so right! If we depend on what we have now, we'll just be fighting for fourth place from the start. Never mind the rest of the competitions.

Agree0 Disagree0

James13 is spot on, we do need another striker...realistically Lukaku needs a loan and you never know if Sturridge is going to turn up or not. Cavani would be fantastic but De Laurentiis is, let's say, eccentric and tough to deal with - plus the Italian press have been reporting that a new deal is on the table for Cavani...let's not get our hopes up just yet!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes not that good fo 100 million {Ed002's Note - |Don't pay too much attention to the statements from De Laurentiis.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha! That's you lot told! Well done Jimbo. Nice use of the expression 'turn it in'. Old London sayings like that aren't used enough.

Hi Eds, did Chelsea ever bid for Lucas Ocampos, the Argentine wonderkid? {Ed018's Note - No. There was interest but not so much anymore}

Just read there that Jose Baxter is a free agent this summer, was wondering if anyone know if we hold any interest in him? I seem to recall we were linked with him during the year, great talent, young and english, fits our current model really. Cheers,
EireCFC

Believable2 Unbelievable7

There's a reason he's a free agent...he's not good enough

I remember once when Baxter was supposed to be england's 'next big thing'...

Hey Ed002 its been a while how have you been keeping ?

All good i hope.Anyhow heres a few questions for you when you have the time.

1).Was reading some reports this morning that Manchester united are preparing or have made a bid of 32.5 mill for sao paulo's Lucas Moura,I understand we made a simlar bid, and it was turned down rather quickly however reports and quotes from Sao paulo's Chairman seem to suggest that they are really considering this latest bid, that being the case even though i understand our likley hood of signing oscar at some point in the very near future is almost a done deal,would we still be intrested in maybe going back in for Lucas Moura i no its a complicated situation right now and theres a bit more to it then just offering more money but im just curious as to know whether chelsea would be prepared to re-enter the race to sign him.

2).Also hearing rumours of a failed bid for Lewandoski do you know anything of this ? if you already answered sorry but couldnt find anything in the search function.

3).and is the following statement's correct on where we stand with current players ?

{1.Cesear price agreed with Marsaille just need to convince him chelsea is right place for him.
2.Cavani a strong intrest yet one or two partys at chelsea remain unconvinced and this is why no official bids have yet to been made.
3.oscar, had medical in brazil documents and permit shown to chelsea again just a matter of convincing player chelsea and the premiership is right for him.
4.Hulk, Porto and chelsea at stale mate over certain issues with the part ownership 10% with chelsea not prepared to pay it after already uping there original bid.}

4).I know its looking likley that Malouda will be leaving us this summer has i understand he has been told to look for anthor club,has similar messages been given to the Essien,Meireles,Ferreria,Benayoun ? or is it a case of should an offer be submitted the situation of each player would then be reviewed ?

5).Heard anything at all about the possible sales of Romelu and Sturridge or is this just cheap journalisim to fill pages. ?

6). I understand most decisions on loans wont be made until after pre-seaon, but with Chelsea looking to bring in a striker anyway, Lukaku looks the most likley to be going on loan (Even though he looked very sharp against Seattle he looks a very bright talent) is there a particular club that has shown a stronger intrest then others has im hearing through the grape vein that Fullham and Everton are the most likley destinations.

if you have any other loan information on the likes of De bryne,mceachran,pizaron,bertrand it would also be appriciated.

I know theres a lot to cover (sorry bout that) but this should also clarify most questions chelsea fans have at the present time Thank you for taking the time to answer as always it dosent go unappricated.Most people are grateful for the personal time and effort you give to help us out.

BlueBen {Ed002's Note - You need to read through the other posts Ben where you will find the answer to most of these questions. Lewandowski and Moura are discussed a few posts down on this page. Cesar's name is Azpilicueta and I would expect the transfer to go ahead after the Olympics. I have explained the situation with Cavani and Oscar. You perhaps have a misunderstanding over Hulk. Chelsea will look at any offers or proposals in respect of a number of the oder players. I know nothing of a suggestion that Lukaku will be sold. There is nothing to say about loans for any of these players yet. There is ceratinly interest in some - particularly De Bruyne form a number of clubs.}

Hey ed ,

What's the situation regarding piszczek at Dortmund. Are they asking for a hefty price which we can't match. If so how much ? {Ed002's Note - Chelsea's choice for RB is Azpilicueta.}

do we have any interest in andy carroll? at £15mill a decent buy. {Ed002's Note - Not right now.}

Believable2 Unbelievable17

15m is not a decent buy, the guy is a waste of money since hes not good at all

Agree1 Disagree0

He just wouldn't suit our new style of play. Players would feel they had to play high balls to him. Save the money and put it towards Cavani...

Ed002 why is Willian coming out with all these quotes saying chelsea made a bid for me after the agreed to sign oscar do you know if we are interested in him again? {Ed002's Note - Is there a reason I have to keep answering the same question?}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

21 Jul 2012 14:25:33
Ed 002.I note Oscar said that nothing is signed at present but the medical has been completed.
What remains to be agreed in your view?
And is there any reason nothing has been agreed prior to the olympics ?
For example maybe trying to attract more interest from other clubs? {Ed002's Note - I have explained already that it would take some time to complete. The medical was undertaken in Brazil (and I really don't care what any one else says) and the results delivered to Chelsea medical staff with some other paperwork. You really need to read the other posts.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Ed 002 I saw your comments today but I was enquiring whether the fee and terms had been agreed?
And is his final decision dependent on his exeprience of London & the UK whilst at the Olympics?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - A fee has been agreed.}

Is it true that Chelsea had been thought to be considering a £35 million bid for Napoli's Edinson Cavani but not everyone at Stamford Bridge is convinced that he is suited to Chelsea style of play??

BlueFox {Ed002's Note - Ignore the money as it is not a matter for discussion. I have explained that Chelsea have a serious interest in Cavani and it is true that someone remains unconvinced.}

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Ed does that mean its more likely we wont sign him if the opportunity came because of that person(s) remains unconvinced? {Ed002's Note - It is oft the case that not everyone agrees on a player. We will see what happens but right now it is in the hands of his agent and Napoli.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it is ridiculous that they remain unconvinced. His movement off the ball is exceptional and he works extremely hard for the team. He's good in all departments; strong, good in the air, quick etc.... He is the type of striker that could fit into any style of play.

Agree0 Disagree0

Except a passing style of play!! as he does not have a good final ball allthough he does get back and help defend when he gets the ball in his own half and it comes to playing in other players, something which drogba was very good at he isnt??

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate Cavani is a Striker not a playmaker; his job is to score the goals not make them. IMO cavani is just as good, if not better, than Torres at passing and certainly Lukaku.

Agree0 Disagree0

True but remember ed saying someone wasn't convinced with hazard but he still ended up at Chelsea! So this still could a possibility!

Agree0 Disagree0

He plays on the shoulder Of the last defender most of the time and occasionally drops deep to play a simple pass to Someone. We lacked a prolific goal scorer last season, Cavani is the answer !

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this the same person who was not convinced about Eden hazard, and going off the game v Seattle we have a world class player on our hands. Hazard was a step above everyone on that pitch in quality and fitness. Personally I think cavani would be a great addition.

NWBLUE {Ed002's Note - No. And the Hazard situation was to do with his attitude and use of the media - not his ability.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Alright thanks for the answer Ed:)

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it the same person that didnt want hazard {Ed002's Note - No.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Who isn't convinced about Cavani? Robbie? Roman? Emenalo? Can you tell us? {Ed002's Note - It is unimportant.}

Agree0 Disagree0

It takes 5 seconds to answer Ed... {Ed002's Note - But it is not a matter for discussion. So unimportant.}

Agree0 Disagree0

In my opionion cavani is the closest player out there to the legend that is dider drogba power speed knows where the goal is at all times great shot,but prem is new to him and i feel it would be the end of fernando at chelsea which im not sure is a good thing just yet

After reading some posts, ive decided that i should change the list of signings i would like to see that i posted the other day, here it is:
Scott Carson? GK (decent, experienced GK to cover until Courtois is ready)
Lukas Piszczek RB
Hulk RM/RW
Robert Lewandowski ST
Cheik Tiote CM/CDM

Believable1 Unbelievable28

Sorry forgot to say my name
ChelseaL

Agree0 Disagree0

We don't need to sign a keeper. If things got that desperate, I'd rather bring Courtois back from loan than have Scott Carson.

IB.

Agree0 Disagree0

Carson?? ha, I'd take Hilario, Turnbull or Blackman any day thanks.

Piszczek - Very good player, but with a very high price-tag and wouldn't want to join us without guarantee of regular first team football. Azpilicueta is a cheaper, younger, and more likely option

Hulk - No thanks. £40mill is a hell of a lot and we already have Ramires on the right, and potentially Oscar who can play there too.

Lewandowski - Very good player but do we really need another situation like last season with loads of strikers competing for one position?

Tiote - Has already said he's not leaving Newcastle this summer, and I'm honestly not sure he's even better than Mikel

Agree0 Disagree0

If he is playing inside his own half then something is definetly wrong!

Why I think Lucas moura is good and bad for us.
There have been many reports this transfer period about how we have been linked with Lucas moura particularly at the beginning of the window. However more recentley he has been closely associated with manchester united. The deal has still not been reached with Sao Paulo wanting more and more money for there super 19year old. My analysis would be good for Manchester united as well.
The reason why moura has had so much attention is due to his truly sensational skill and speed. You only have to go onto YouTube to see how amazingly he intergrates his skill and speed into his game. However, what we don't see on those videos is him playing into the team effort and working with the players around him. This attitude might change with being surrounded by awesome players in the premier league however, I can't help thinking it would turn out to be another sturridge incident. He just won't adapt into playing for the team and not himself, which is evident in the videos, or it might be something he matures into.
Also i can't help thinking with the much better and experienced defenders in the Premier league, his awesome skill would be diluted and snuffed out easily.
But, you cannot ignore his brilliant attributes and at such a young age he could become a true asset in the premier league. With champions league football as well he could develop into a truly magnificent player. An individual, that is, not a team player. That would take time and adaptation to the teams he could be in.
Overall then he is a great player with so much potential. If we could harness that potential we would be tapping into a brilliant future we do desperately want. Whether its a good investment for us too make is down to Matteo and Abramvomich.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

He looked pretty good against a British defence last night. Ok so it was a weak defence, but I would be very happy to have him at the Bridge after what I saw last night.

Good accurate post dude

Agree0 Disagree0

Oscar > Moura. Any day of the week

Agree0 Disagree0

I really hope we go for Moura again and beat all the other team...he is a class...i have seen few matches of him...really want him in a Chelsea shirt...!! Chelsea for life.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the person who said Oscar is better than Moura that may be true but Moura brings some versatility that Oscar doesn't. Moura has pace and skill enough to play on the wings whereas Oscar doesn't really play out wide.

Oscar says he has not put pen to paper and will only decide on his future after the Olympics. Ed, is the player keen to join us, or is he ruminating other offers? Thanks. {Ed002's Note - I have explained that it will take time to complete the move. He is young and it will be a significant cultural change. I expect it will go through after the Olympics.}

hey ed i was just wondering what teams are interested in jack butland? thanks =] {Ed002's Note - Realluy don't know. Sorry.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Are you wondering if we should sign him? imho i dont think we should as Courtois looks to have Petr's spot truly nailed when he retires and to sign butland it would be a waste of a very very good talent

Whilst no doubt Courtois will replace Cech, I believe Butland has a bright future and if he were bought now, could be loaned for the next few years to gain experience.

What happened to our interest in tiote and rondon? Does it still remain?

Devon. {Ed002's Note - Rondon was considered only as a possible option after Kalou left and was far too expensive for the club to follow up. Tiote could interest Chelsea at the right price if he were available - which I doubt he is.}

ED002 Why would Oscar have a medical without agreeing a move first? {Ed002's Note - He had a medical in Brazil and delivered the paperwork together with some papers related to a work permit application to Chelsea where he met with the Doctor. Once the Olympics are over if everyone is happy with the deal then I am sure it can be completed. I have explained that everyone wants to be sure about the move before it goes ahead.}

Ed
Just out of curiosity were we as far away as man utd supposedly are from moura ?
And also do you think we would go back in for him
Oh and by the way I think oscar looks great
Thanks for your time
Jason {Ed002's Note - The situation with Lucas Moura is very complicated and it could drag out all summer and come to nothing. Chelsea made two bids earlier in the year and Inter also made a bid in January. Real Madrid looked to a deal involving another player going in exchange but that came to nothing. His agent would prefer a part ownership deal with Inter. Manchester United remain interested in the player but probably not at a price that is acceptable to Sao Paulo and I expect their bid would be unacceptable. I would not discount any of the clubs, nor would I discount him staying until the end of the year and discussions starting again in January. The feeling from someone in Brazil is that he thinks that Manchester United will probably not make any further offer for Lucas Moura as they feel they have already bid to the best value of the player. He cannot be certain there will be no higher bids but he can be certain that if there are then the club would be paying over the odds for the player.}

ED02 is it true we have bid for lewondowski? {Ed002's Note - Dortmund's Lewandowski has been watched by Liverpool, PSG, Real Madrid, Rubin Kazan, Manchester United, Spartak Moscow (who are concerned about losing Welliton), Juventus and Lille. I very much suspect Bayern Munich would be top of the list with a cheque in hand should he not agree an extension at Dortmund but Dortmund certainly do not want to sell him to BM. The other more viable options are Arsenal, Manchester United, Juventus (albeit he is probably fourth choice for them). Chelsea have considered Lewandowski but I don't know of any bid being made. At present Dortmund and the player have been unable to reach agreement over a new deal but that does not mean that they won't.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jul 2012 21:23:19

Ed002 - have wondered previously so might as well ask. Know a touch of your background but I was interested in why Chelsea were your team of choice. Do you/have you lived in the area or was it just a gut feeling type of decision? No ulterior motive in the question which is why I am asking it on here and not on 'the main page' (you know where that is)

Puzzled {Ed002's Note - I had Scottish grand parents and had been to a couple of games in the 60s when we visited the British Isles to see them. Then when I first moved to England I was living in Redcliffe Place which is very close to the ground.}
