Ed, I know it may not get an answer but are Chelsea looking to sign a striker, midfielder or defender this January?

jim132 {Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

We are only interested in a midfielder. However, no guarantees that one will arrive. CTID

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't want to push it but which position are they most keen to strenghten?

Jim132 {Ed002's Note - I really don't

Ed002: Really nothing going on? No news whatsoever?

JG {Ed002's Note - Nothing I can think that needs reporting right now.}

would you say that we would get more than expected if torres was sold for 28.5 million {Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Torres is only worth 6mil if sturridge was 12mil

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jan 2013 20:41:02
no 30 million would be his price yeas heas having a hard time in epl but that's because the style of play is different if torres goes back to spain will bang the goals in the epl is a far harder place to play

Agree0 Disagree0

30mil Ha! your having a laugh, it has nothing to do with the league. he was banging them in for fun at Liverpool. With the talent around him he should be scoring in every game. he's not interested anymore you can see that. Just goes to show that the grass is'nt always greener. As the earlier poster said if Sturridge is worth 12mil then Torres is worth less. But he has a good reputation so you may get 15-18mil but if he stays at Chelsea any longer i'm afriad you will lose out as his confidence will only get worse.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you guys were athletico would you swap falcao for torres and 30m?

it has a lot to do with the style of play and you canny say it doesn't because liverpool have a far better style of play to get the best out there strikers that's just fact

why didn't we recall jeffrey bruma when jt was injured {Ed002's Note - There was no need - and Bruma has no long-term future with the club and will leave this coming summer.}

Any interest in Alan Dzagoev Ed? {Ed002's Note - Dzagoev has interested Chelsea and Arsenal (who at one time sent an entire contingent to watch him play in Moscow) in the past but that has probably waned. Roma, Napoli and Spurs have both recently contacted CSKA about the player. It should be noted that he signed a new contract in the summer and a move in January is very unlikely but if it were to happen Roma is the most likely destination.

Any interest in James rodriguez from Porto? {Ed002's Note - Yes but not from Chelsea.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Ok ... then who is most likely to sign him ?

derek {Ed002's Note - Three clubs spoke to Porto about James Rodrigues over the summer and two bids were rejected. Neither matched Porto's then valuation of the player (30M euro). The bidding clubs were Manchester United and Palermo whilst Bayern Munich looking looking carefully at Rodrigues as an alternative to Dries Mertens who they are keen to move for next summer. Juventus has spoken with Porto recently but again money will be an issue unless a more creative solution can be found. There may well have been enquiries from other clubs including Napoli. It may be tough to find someone to pay the sort of fee Porto would now be looking for after negotiating a much higher release fee (45M euro) for the player. A move in the summer seems more likely than January.}

Ed 002 Have you any idea why Malouda was dumped from the squad when we had such a tough schedule of games infront of us this season ?
S.S. {Ed002's Note - I am not sure "dumped" is the best word, but FM was expected to move to Brazil in the summer for a likely two year period before playing out the remainder of his career at Dijon. The club planned for the season without him and he has continued to train to keep in shape whilst looking for a new club. His preference remains Brazil, but he would need to rethink his financial demands to make it happen.}

Believable0 Unbelievable2

So when Marin got injured why didn't they revise those plans do you think?
Just seems very short sighted to cut him from the squad when we had so many games before Xmas.
Sounds more like some matter of principle than a sound football decision. {Ed002's Note - He was not in the squad submitted to the EPL, he was not planned to be there or be used. I don't see the problem.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry I thought that the squad could be revised in case of injuries. {Ed002's Note - There were no long term injuries.}

Hey ed, And fellow Chelsea fans great win on Sunday :)

A few questions for you.

1)Do you feel as though there will be more business in terms of players comming in being done before the end of the January transfer window.

2)if the answer is yes do you feel has though these signings if any will most likely be less well known players but rather hot prospects for the future(Has an example Markovic).Or is a big name still on the cards ?

3) is the Premier league club that has an open offer to Jose mourinho Chelsea ?

4)Do you Expect Molouda, Ferreria, bruma, torres, lampard, benayoun. all to be gone come the end of the summer ?

Blueben

{Ed002's Note - (1) Probably. (2) It doesn't work like that Ben - the club has particular players in mind and the timing of arrivals is not something they can easily control. It could be that a player you have heard of (e.g. Jovetic) arrives or it could be a player that you have never heard of (e.g. Candido) arrives. There is no simple sequencing of events. (3) I am not aware of an "open offer" from a Premier League club. (4) Yes, probably.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Thank you

Ed

I guess you could add Turball & Hilario into the probable departures but do you think there will bbe any more?

Terraloon {Ed002's Note - Yes, but I really don't want to be dragged in to what will happen in the next transfer window.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, I realise that Mikel has only recently signed a new contract but I was wondering whether anyone had shown any interest in him? {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed is that candido whos in the brazil u20 squad

Any updates on Bernard ed,

Billy {Ed002's Note - Nothing at this time. Atletico Mineiro's Bernard rejected opportunities to join Zenit and Qatar in the summer but there was a lingering thought that he may move on this January. Inter and Liverpool both had Bernard watched last summer with Inter going as far offering part ownership of others in exchange for part ownership of Bernard, but again that was refused. However, AC Milan, Spartak Moscow, Terek Grozny and Shakhtar Donetsk have recently approached Atletico Mineiro and whilst a 12M euro offer from Terek was rejected, it looks like a deal could be still be done and perhaps AC Milan will put together a package including a player as part of the deal. Whilst he is certainly attracting interest from several sides and a very good offer could tempt them to sell, I suspect Atletico Mineiro and Bernard would prefer to hold off on any move for, say, another year. Chelsea has been keeping a close eye on his progress as have Manchester City. He was one of the South American players that Liverpool were scouting earlier in 2012.}
