Just heard lukaku is staying at anderlecht fir another season as he is concerned about playing time on the pitch. This on the surface would seem good for all parties if true and I just hope someone at Chelsea has seen sense to tie him down to some sort of pre contract, or maybe even a loan back to anderlecht. Have you heard anything ed or is this more bs ?

Chelsea are to attempt to sign Alberto Aquilani from Liverpool, with Andre Villas reportedly growing increasingly unsure about spending £40m on Luka Modric.

While the plan is to bring the Italian to Stamford Bridge on loan, Aquilani is said to be reluctant to go anywhere on a temporary transfer after spending a year in Turin with Juventus.

Source: Fanatix News

Personally I think that this player obviously has a lot of potential but he has already proved poor in the prem with liverpool so I'm not sure if he can cut it with us either {Ed002's Note - It is rubbish - just ignore it.}

Believable1 Unbelievable6

OK, you know best. Sounds believable about AVB being unsure on £40Million for Modric as anyone in their right minds (not Harry Readknapp) would be.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aquilani has been brilliant this pre season, so i would love to have him at chelsea. his passes is exactly what chelsea need

Agree0 Disagree0

Barton? Dempsey? Aquilani? You lot have stayed out in the sun too long

do none of you listen to the wise words of the ed? buy out clauses CANNOT be enforced across borders. Mata's clause is only enforceable in spain

Melbourne CFC {Ed002's Note - If there is a release clause instead of a buy out then it is up to Valencia whether they accept a bid or not. Much will depend on what the player wants to do. If it is a buy=out clause then it is a similar problem to that faced by RM over Aguero.}

Arsenal have seemed to have missed out on mata after they did not reach the deadline for his 20million buy out clause. It has been upped to 52million however a bid of 30million could be accepeted because of Valencia's 500million debt.

Kaka is getting old and has looked past his best ever since his expensive move to Real Madrid and the last thing we need is another aging playing like him. We need to invest in younger talents like Pastore or Johnson and not players that have already peaked like Kaka or are a waste of money like Modric (35m is way too much for him)

Believable3 Unbelievable1

I agree with you that the price of modric is too much but if he has the same impact on chelsea that he had at tottenham then who cares, also people saying we need a new winger, let me remind you all that we have one of the most promising young flair players in the world (kakuta), and judging by porto last season and chelsea pre season, andre villas boas likes to give young players first team action.

Agree0 Disagree0

What happened to Kakuta? A year ago he was tipped to be the next star for chelsea but I haven't really seen much of him after our double year {Ed002's Note - He went on loan to Fulham. Now he is away at the U20 World Cup.}

Ed, There are a lot of ifs, buts and maybes here but should Fabregas move to Barcelona would Thiago Alcantara look to move on/move to the Prem/Move to Chelsea? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Would be great if it would happen, alas it will not

Ed's is it true Zhirkov is about to leave? He is my favourite Chelsea player. He has a very good attitude and has bags of ability but never got the playing time he deserved. I think he has impressed in this pre-season and he is very versatile so i don't know why AVB would want to sell him, knowing about the injuries we get to are defenders and midfielders. Just 1 more quick question, are Chelsea going to sign anyone who is actually going to play a key role in the first team? I know Pastore was a target but with 2 weeks left to the new season, surely we are leaving it a bit late {Ed002's Note - There was no question that Zhirkov would go - particularly with the emergence of PVA. I am sure one or two players will come in - and it will be a waste of my time to ask who and when.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

One or two ed02? 2 for sure a left footed wonger who can also play on the right and a playmaker and 1 more i thinl there wil be 3 signings

sorry to be bugging you today ed, but ive been on the liverpool forum and they seem to think that a deal has been offered to swap sturridge and merielles (spelling). i know that you are somewhat in the know in regards to liverpool so could you please put this to bed. i find it hard to believe myself.

Modric wud go to chelsea definately in next 20 days. He wud be the only big signing. Romeu wud put pressure on mikel for starting place. Chelsea could also play luiz at essiens place. if modric comes, lampard and ramires have to fight for a place with him. There is a chance that mikel could be sold to fund modrics transfers because he is very one dimensional and non versatile player.

Zhirkov off the Anzhi in Russia for 15m euro apparently deal just about completed. {Ed002's Note - Very possibly. There is no shortage of interest in him.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

The news came from a Russian friend but obviously needs tbc. {Ed002's Note - It is very viable as is interest from Rubin. His preference I am told is Moscow but Rubin and Anzhi will pay much better.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Good at least we will be able to get a good price out of him. Shame he didn't turn out to be a successful signing but I hope he does well with his next club

It's got to the point where I feel we actualy don't have funds available for top players.So on that note I would be happy for anyone even Craig bellamy or nzogbia but he already gone to villa.I'm really growing frustrated at our lack of signings.At times last season we were awfull.I just don't understand how there are bids on the table for neymar(40m)
Pastore(35m)
Modric(30m)
Sanchez(30m)
But now, everything has changed and we don't need new players according to big Ron.A couple of 4-0 wins against Asia teams does not make us world beaters.If roman wants the best out of Torres and win champions league, then we need champions league quality players like sneijder or even eto'o who can play out wide.

why is it Ed that everytime a paper links us with someone everyone jumps on the bandwagon and wants them signed. kaka would still cut it at chelsea but why would we want to sign a 29yo who would cost around 30mil when we could easily invest that kind of money on a proven youngster.

just glad AVB isnt in panic mode like the some chelsea supporters on here.

Do these Kaka rumours actually have any substance? His salary would be massive so it just doesnt make sense. A loan deal with Madrid still paying part of his wages is the only way i would consider it good business.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Kaka has still got quality left in him and if AVB can bring out the best of him then he would be a great signing. It doesn't look like Mourinho will feature him that much in his plans this year for RM

I believe if we sign a player like kaka it would boost us with signing other brizilians like ganso and maybe neymar {Ed002's Note - Chelsea have no shortage of Brazilian's (Alex, Ramires, Luiz, Lucas) and several other Portuguese speakers, including the manager.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

No doubt Kaka would be a great signing provided we can get him at a good price but I think we should target younger players

Who's lucas is it that lucas moura if it is he looks class {Ed002's Note - Lucas Piazon.}

I think we should spend the reported 40 mil transfer fee for on kaka and thiago alcantara. kaka will be great for 2-3 seasons and thiago will have the best mentor to make sure he turns into the superstar he should be. we also deeply need a winger and hulk if possible would be my first choice although if we can strike a deal with neymar for january i would also be excited if he and piazon came together. piazon mceachran and alcantara all waiting in the ranks will bring the best out of our oldies finally having some competition for there places on the team sheet, we will also have the best young midfield in europe.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

I would agree if i thought there was even a mall chance of thiago signing, there isn't so i don't

ed read somewhere today that juan mata has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave if bids are in by today is this true and is there any chance the watching brief could turn concrete today? {Ed002's Note - No there is no such clause but Valencia want to know as soon as possible what the player is planning on doing next season. I don't see Chelsea making any sort of move today.}

If man utd get snijder we are in big trouble, I think we will have falling to far behind.if it'd get him and man city getting aguero the only way for us to keep up is to get neymar hulk and world class play maker, but really can't see us getting them so looks like 3rd place if were lucky unless something changes,

Believable9 Unbelievable4

I agree Snijder would be a great buy for Man U, but remember how frail they were away from home last season, if we can be consistant (and if past managerial positions are anything to go by that is what AVB is best at) then i think we have a real shot at the prem, but man u will have an awesome champs league team. As for Man City, i hate to pass judgement on them bescause they change so much from season to season, the first 11 that started last season will be very different from the first 11 that starts this season im sure, its hard to tell with them.

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe the pastore saga is not truly yet...something tells me that we will have a final crack for him regardless of all the "unconfirmed" speculation. Some people here are suggesting that it's a good thing if he doesn't come due to the fact that he looks like he couldn't handle the physical demands of the epl, but isn't that what people said of modric when he was available for 16mil? He proved he can and now we're trying to get him for over double that Pastore reminds me of a younger kaka, great touch, vision, good pace etc....at 21 Once down at chelsea, we would have done what was needed to build him up to handle the demands faced in the premier. I find it hard to accept that we were beaten by 5mil euro for such a talent. As for the wages, yes we couldn't offer the same amount as psg mainly down to the tax situation here, but how much would much would it be worth to have someone to ignite torres to replicate his liverpool form? How much would it be worth to have someone who could break down teams who have no intention of doing nothing more than sitting in front of their goal when coming to the bridge with a dazzling piece of skill? We've never truly replaced zola (very difficult i know) but we are desperate for someone of that ilk at the club. It's going to be hard to see pastore pulling up trees in years to come...and not at stamford bridge. Yes, he's a bit of risk and he's expensive, but not as expensive as repeating the same form and trophy haul as last season.....And i'm spent
In rom we trust {Ed002's Note - Pastore has signed for PSG.}

Agree0 Disagree0

No he hasn't its not yet finalised

Kaka has emerged as a contender to become Chelsea's new playmaker, after Real Madrid indicated that he may be made available for transfer. Source: Metro 1st August

I for one do not want Kaka at Chelsea he's 29 now and by the end of next season will be another player in our ranks that is over 30. I think we need to be investing in the future and in players who we can help maximise their potential, not players who look to be over the hill already
