Hi ed do you know if mats would like a moves to us? {Ed018's Note -i assume you mean Mata. I know that he was open to a move to the premier league. It sounds like talks are pretty far advanced so i'd suspect he is very willing to come to Chelsea}

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Mats:L my stupid iPod spelling correction:)

Agree0 Disagree0

Aw man I've been havin the same problem for ages And I thought I was the only one :)

FootyBunker is reporting that Arsenal are close to agreeing a deal in "Principle" if they qualify for the chamions league for Eden hazard for a fee of £23m. Do you see Chelsea making a appraoch for the player in the coming days or does the possible signing of Juan Mata rule us out of going after Hazard. Thanks

PB {Ed018's Note - if Chelsea sign Mata i would assume that would rule out any move for Hazard}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Ah ok :(

Agree0 Disagree0

We need a right winger aswel tho i think {Ed018's Note - who Nasri haha. do you not think Sturridge should get a chance at right wing?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Sturridge deffo deserves a chance this year but if u look at Man United who have 3 quality wingers in Nani, Young and Valencia we dont have that strength and depth. Anelka and one of our wingers Kalou/Malouda needs to leave to free up a non foreign players spots this would then allow us to buy another winger in Hazard. Mata doesnt just play on the wing he can play attacking or centre mid also. Hazard far left, Mata central or on the wing being rotated with Sturridge sounds potentially amazing. weve got 60 - 70 games this year quality and strength and depth is what we need.

PB

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought LOSC Lille had raised Hazards price tag to €30M+? {Ed002's Note - euro.}

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Aug 2011 22:49:05
Really hope the mata rumour is true.I think this move makes sense as he is only 22 proven quality,outstanding in under 21 tournament,can play left or centre.Also he is Spanish which could possibly make Torres feel more at ease.mata,Modric,hazard come on Chelsea.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Mata is looking likely now and the Modric saga in my opinion will be sorted out this week. Hazard would be amazing but unlikely due to our horrible head scout ha :(

Ed do you no from an official stand point the Juan Mata situation, have we bid for him, has it been accepted and do you no the fee. Thanks

PB {Ed002's Note - Th fee of course is irrelevant.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fair enough but do we no if an official bid has been made and if it has been accepted?

Hi Eds

There has been a dropoff in Fernando speculation -I thought he was exactly what was needed; is there still any interest?

Mata
Fernando
and Moutinho or Modric and we would be very well set {Ed002's Note - Maybe.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

19 Aug 2011 21:37:06
ed i know you dont like to guess these things as it leaves you open to ridicule from morons but in an ideal world how many players are chelsea hopeful of bringing in? Presumably a modric and a mata type player are thr main targets but aside from those two positions we've also been linked with the likes of fernando/m'villa holding player and also a centre back i.e rolando/ scott dann.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hopefully Modric, Mata, De Bruyne (if he can prove his fitness in this window) and a CB as replacement for Alex if he leaves. With some players possibly on the way out, that seems like pretty good business considering all the moaning from us fans throughout the window. The only thing is I know we have a solid interest in Subotic, and it's very, very unlikely he will move in this window.. so I hope we're not forced in to a pressure buy of someone else, e.g. Rolando, if Alex is to move on. I know Chelsea are being clever in their dealings, so I don't think it will happen, just a fear at the back of my mind.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Aug 2011 22:33:01
accepted mata bid is 28 million. Accepted modric bid is 28 million and malouda

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Malouda wont be sold in this transaction surely? I dont rate the player but he is worth closer to 10m when the make weight which was Benayoun is valued around 5m. We need a Luka or a Ganso so were gunna av to pay what ever it takes to get one of them unfortuantly, which as it seems is going to be a high price.

PB

Agree0 Disagree0

Where did the Modric news come from?

Agree0 Disagree0

Juan Mata is said to have agreed personal terms and be heading over to Stamford Bridge for a medical. Chelsea haven't made another bid for Modric. There has only been one bid made and it was rejected however Modric is still keen on a move to Chelsea so i'm guessing the only problem would be to agree a fee. {Ed002's Note - All correct.}

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Aug 2011 22:17:26
Ed, if we get Mata who will play as our right winger as Mata is left footed? {Ed018's Note - Sturridge when he returns from suspension should see a good deal of time in that position}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

But Sturridge is also a left footer? {Ed018's Note - yea but they have been using him on the right during preseason and i anticipate thats were he will be used}

Agree0 Disagree0

In modern football they place wingers on the opposite side to their strongest foot to consequently allow them to cut inside on it. Therefore now it is almost inconsequential which side a winger plays on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair shout but i'd rather them buy a right winger say a hazard but i very much doubt it will happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Duff and Robben were both left wingers and they play well together, although duff was fairly handy with the right foot.

ED,
do we fans need to wait till last minute for any transfer that takes place?
Mata and Modric, as per current rumours, will be enough for the Blues. :)
Then, we just need to offload Anelka, Kalou and Malouda.
they will do after the tomorrow match I hope.. {Ed018's Note - it may go down to the last minute with Modric}

Believable4 Unbelievable0

News about Mata is spreading like wild fire

Believable4 Unbelievable0

19 Aug 2011 21:30:53
Hi Ed - Spanish media report that Valencia have approved a bid for Juan Mata, have you heard this or do you think another rumour trying to raise false hopes. Thanks for the good work you do. {Ed018's Note - yes i have heard this as well}

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Juanma Castano, Spains, Lineker equivalant, has confirmed that Valencia have accepted Chelsea bid for Mata.
Fingers crossed he is right.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

19 Aug 2011 21:15:07
Twitter going crazy that Valencia have accepted Chelsea's bid for Juan Mata. Obviously this is a pretty rubbish source and i wont believe it till it becomes official but hopefully the phrase "no smoke without fire" can be applied. Top signing if we pull it off

Believable4 Unbelievable0

19 Aug 2011 20:09:28
Ed, why is it that Chelsea always miss out on the better players, i.e Aguero, Nasri, Ozil, Neymar etc. We always have to resort to our plan b targets. {Ed018's Note - why are you always so negative. nobody could wanted to pay Aguero's wages but City, Neymar is still a Santos player so we haven't missed out, we never had interet in Nasri so stop bringing him up. I don't know what it is about Nasri that has you asking about him 5 times a day}

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Seriously, this nasri fascination has gone overboard now.....we will be ok without him guys, in fact we will be great this season..you juat wait and see..

Agree0 Disagree0

Because our style of play is so negative, because Nasri is what Chelsea need, he has everything and more. I'm a fan of Nasri, and he's available for transfer, I no my football and I no that Nasri would be a better buy than Modric. Thats why I bring this up continuously because you only ever say there is no interest and dont actually explain why we are not interested, theres cant be any reason

All over twitter Chelsea have agreed a fee with tottenham for modric and will use the money to bid 23 mil for ganso and mata house is up for sale and is living in a hotel

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Sorry, but i did not realy get your post...who will be using the money for what?

Agree0 Disagree0

Read the post again mate but slowly

Agree0 Disagree0

If it means what i think it means then good luck to them.

Agree0 Disagree0

Naa im not avin it m8, its also being put out on twtter that a bid for mata has been accepted from chelsea

Agree0 Disagree0

I didn't get this post either, are spurs bidding 23 million for Ganso and also buying mata?

Simple yes or no is fine, no sarcastic replies please it's not needed

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you suggesting Spurs will bid 23m or Ganso? There would be 0% chance of Ganso joining Spurs.

hey ed its reported in spanish media
that valencia and chelsea are in
negotiations over the signing of
mata which is worth 30 million euros
could u please enlighten me if this is
truth or more dodgy reporting?
cheers for the good work {Ed018's Note - ive heard from a few sources that it is true}

Believable4 Unbelievable0

So ed you acknowledge the fact that there are firm negotiations going on and not false rumors? How sure are you? {Ed018's Note - just what ive been told from a pretty good source, so ill take his word}

Agree0 Disagree0

Is your sources twitter ed {Ed018's Note - no}

I beg the differ {Ed018's Note - ok}

Tottenham close to deal on Diarra, though Harry says he's coming as partner to mod and not replacement, does it still increase our chances of signing mod?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

19 Aug 2011 16:43:20
chelsea is going for the services of
samir nasri {Ed002's Note - No, there has never been any interest.}

Believable1 Unbelievable8

Well why has AVB stated that he is one of the most exciting players in the PL? He's younger than Modric, Quicker, Better and Cheaper (as money quite clearly looks to be an issue with Modric) and he's available Why would'nt Chelsea want to move for him? He is exactly the type of player we need {Ed018's Note - you will have to ask AVB that question.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Think the fact Man City are going to pay him 180k a week is a pretty good reason why Chelsea stayed well clear

Agree0 Disagree0

Can nobody take a hint, we don't want him, the reason he said these things is because he is a good player. {Ed018's Note - yea its getting a bit played out that people still want to know if we are gonna go for Nasri or why aren't we going for him. time to let it go, he will be a City player soon enough}

Agree0 Disagree0

I have seen in sportcenter that Nasri told one of his mate that he would love to move to Manchester United rather than Mancity...so if we go for him it can be good move. {Ed018's Note - what does Chelsea have to do with United}

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Aug 2011 16:10:03
Hi Ed's - Do you belive CFC are trying to sign both Modric and Mata, or just the one. I agree
it would be great but realistically?? Thnaks {Ed002's Note - I have answered these matter already.}

Believable0 Unbelievable2

19 Aug 2011 14:54:54
HI ED, with the recent arrival of Cesc Fabregas do you no if Chelsea have enquired about the availability of Thiago Alacantara, AVB is a huge fan and he is a potentially amazing player. Thanks

PB {Ed002's Note - He will not be for sale.}

Things look to be moving regarding transfers,just dont understand why it's took so long.I'm happy with the players brought in but still think we are short of pace and creativity.Would really like to see the following:
De Byrne 9m
Kaka on loan with view to permanent deal
Modric 27m plus kalou or malouda
Mata 27m
Would also like to see a lot more of mcecharen and van arrnolt who look like really good players.If Torres puts as much effort in as he did last Sunday against Stoke 50m will look a bargain for someone who I believe at the top of his game is the best in the world.Sad to see cech injured but hilario isn't to bad.With a couple more signings we could really push on this year and I'm starting to enjoy watching us play under villa boas.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Kaka wont come on loan nor would Madrid allow it, hes 29 and and there are questions about his fitness in recent years let alone the huge wages hes probably on at madrid. I would love to see Hazard come in and Malouda used as a make weight in the deal. Malouda plus £15m i would suggest would be a very good starting bod. Malouda will get Champs league with Lille plus the oppotunity to go back to France for a top team.

PB

Agree0 Disagree0

I think most of Chelsea would like to see that :)

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think 50m would count as a bargain but wud make him good signing

Agree0 Disagree0

Offload: Anelka, Kalou, Malouda even Mikel (don't be emotional my friend)..
This makes, amongst Drogba, Sturrige, Torres and Lukaku (two of them) up front..
With a new playmaker, we have combination of him along with selected ones amongst Lampard, McEachren, Romeu, Ramires, Benayoun (he is a wonderful creater of ball to the striker.).
After Essien and Piazon join from January, the Blues will be a real team to watch..

Agree0 Disagree0

In:
De Bruyne
Moutinho
Mata
Rodwell-Young,English and can play DM or CB
Douglas Costa

Out:
Kalou
Anelka
Malouda
Bosingwa (Depending on how well he plays)
Bertrand (Loan)
Kakuta (Loan)
Rajkovic (Loan)

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Aug 2011 12:54:33
If Mata and Modric/Moutinho become Chelsea players, would you think that would be the end of Chelsea's spending in this window? Just curious as we still seem to be linked with Perreira at Porto. {Ed018's Note - i would think so, unless a deal for De Bruyne can be sorted out}

Believable4 Unbelievable3

I would prefer to see De Bruyne signed in January to coincide with the arrival of Lucas Piazon, youth could overthrow the regulars in the team, seems like Chelsea building for the future which is always great to see.

Agree0 Disagree0

But the problem with a overhaul of young players is that you aren't 100% sure if they are going to play well together and with young players, you do see a couple of mistakes being made

Gday Ed, love your work, read this site every morning to catch up on what o's happening. Not long left in the window. I have read all recent posts, but with your knowledge who do you believe the club will actually bring in/ sell? Cheers {Ed002's Note - Yes to both. I am not going to get dragged in to giving definitive lists though.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 Aug 2011 12:40:29
Ed what is the buyout clause in Moutinho's contract? is he considered the alternative to Modric if a deal cant be reached with spurs? {Ed018's Note - i believe it is 35 million Euros

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Are Porto willing to listen to offers for Moutinho then? Seems like they are selling a lot of players this summer. {Ed002's Note - Porto wanted to keep their squad together, but if they get offered a good amount for players they have to consider it.}

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Aug 2011 12:37:33
Keep up good work EDs. Do you expect mata to be a Chelsea on 1st September ?? I just want an opinion and I won't care if you are wrong. Cheers {Ed018's Note - there's a very good chance}

Believable5 Unbelievable1

19 Aug 2011 11:18:51
Eds, regarding mata's transfer fee that is around 27 mil, i dont like to talk about money but is the amount satisfactory for both sides? Or will valencia pend us? {Ed002's Note - I think it is best not to talk about money as well. I do not know what is to be offered. I also do not know what would be acceptable to Valencia.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Ed do you think a bid is now imminent ? {Ed002's Note - Read the other posts, please.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry ed didn't realise of the other posts had been updated. I'll be more careful next time ;)

I've read a lot of 'Sturridge to Liverpool'. Any truth? I wouldn't have thought Chelsea would entertain selling him. {Ed002's Note - No.}

Believable4 Unbelievable1

19 Aug 2011 10:13:52
Morning Ed's, could you confirm if there is any Chelsea delegation in Valencia at this time regarding the Mata transfer? {Ed002's Note - Sorry, I can't.}

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Not a problem.

19 Aug 2011 07:32:42
telegraph reporting weve bid 27 mill for mata, and they think it could be successful bid, hes a left winger is he not? we already have a load of left sided players, hope they arnt gonna play him in the middle like they did with zhirkov, i would rather sell and replace anelka and kalou than malouda

Believable5 Unbelievable3

No bid has been made, this is just speculation.

Agree0 Disagree0

How do you know whats your source this is aimed at the "no bid" person {Ed002's Note - As of yesterday lunchtime I can confirm that no bid had been made.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Where are the quotes from the "sources" regarding the bid? The offer is expected to secure the 23 year-old from Valencia who are likely to accept the bid ahead of interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal dropped their interest in Mata last week, having allowed a £22 million buy-out clause in his contract to expire, and it now appears that was probably in response to Chelsea’s intervention and the knowledge they would trump any offer.

Villas-Boas is keen to add pace, creativity and width to the team and has agreed that Mata would be an important addition to his squad.

Valencia do not want to sell so close to the start of the Spanish season but Mata is agitating for a move.

Where does it say that anyone from chelsea or valencia have said this is accurate? and as Ed stated, as of yesterday there was no initial bid either. {Ed002's Note - I suspect that a bid is to be made - and I can go as far as saying that a bid has been prepared and is awaiting approval before being submitted (as of yesterday afternoon).}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed would you say £27m for Mata is good business? {Ed002's Note - I have no opinion on it as "good business" or not. Sorry.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Would Mata be expected to replace Malouda in the team?

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Aug 2011 01:24:24
hey ed, is it true that mourinho is on the brink of being sacked with real madrid? {Ed018's Note - and if so who do they bring in. not happening at the begining of the season}

Believable1 Unbelievable5

U mentioned ancelotti at the end of last season {Ed002's Note - I still expect that Ancelotti will be the next Real Madrid manager.}

Agree0 Disagree0
