Great job guys, just 1 question: As Falcao has signed a new contract, is there any chance of him signing for us? {Ed018's Note - yes}
---------------------------------------------------
So ED018, Surely signing a new contract would show Chelsea he wants to stay at porto? So why are we still trying to buy him as his price would of increased?{ Ed018's Note - not necessarily, but yea we may have to pay more now}

ed y hasnt the courtois deal been confirmed yet
and what is going to happen 2 delac {Ed002's Note - Courtois will go out on loan - there is nothing to be read in to why it has not been confirmed, I imagine they will wait for formalities to be completed.}

Great job guys, just 1 question: As Falcao has signed a new contract, is there any chance of him signing for us? {Ed018's Note - yes}

Believable0 Unbelievable7

What y wrer going 4 lukaku and falcao would cost 2 much

Agree0 Disagree0

Y wud we pay more falcao nw wen we cud av bought em cheaper {Ed002's Note - It is not as simple as that. Falcao is a Porto player and loyal to his club. Everything was placed in the hands of his agent who provided him advice. There is nothing new in this as I have mentioned it before. Porto were aware that after losing AVB there was a good chance that Chelsea would look to one or more of their players - this happened once before if you recall. A new contract was proposed to Falcoa through his agent that better positions Porto for negotiation. His agent recommended that be agreed and it was duly signed. Interest from Chelsea has not gone away. He may make the move or he may not. That is where we are.}

It makes no sense for us to go after Falcao after he has just signed a new contract and would cost more.He is not exactly the type of forward we need with aguero being ideal but it seems we've lost out to man city with him.Ed are we trying to buy wide players similar to robben and duff since we've lost out on aguero?thanks {Ed018's Note - they have tried this summer to buy those types of player, neymar, sanchez. it just hasnt worked out, but it hasnt been for a lack of trying}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Thanks Ed.I know the club have been working hard to get them players but as you said it's not meant to be unfortunately.

18 Jul 2011 21:21:29
I've heard that we are after kaka now due to the difficulty of the modric deal, any news? {Ed018's Note - i havent heard anything about serious interest in kaka, i know once a week the media somehow links us with him}

i think everyone should take a break for a while, as clearly not much is going to happen until at least the end of the month, other than courtois being confirmed, the squad is in asia right now and as villas-boas said he needs time to assess the players and what needs to be done. sit tight, we should (fingers crossed) be in for an exciting end to the window. {Ed018's Note - everyone should take note of this post}

Believable12 Unbelievable0

Ok noted

Agree0 Disagree0

I sent in same thing with a bit more authority and it wasnt put up {Ed018's Note - maybe with less authority is what you needed}

Agree0 Disagree0

"everyone should take note of this post"

Unfortunately, very few people will.

Agree0 Disagree0

I jst hope cfc wont b goin for d left overs cos only God knews wat might have Happen 2 d likes of pastore, sneijder, modric, sanchez, aguero, hamsik, nasri... by then.hope there would stil be good playas to sign.

How much does Aguero earn? {Ed002's Note - Plenty.}

Believable2 Unbelievable2

18 Jul 2011 18:45:02
ed will we sign aguero or which other top striker ? {Ed002's Note - I suspect that Aguero won't sign. If pushed and non commital (and not answering questions on the subject) I would say Falcao is by far the most likely possibly with Lukaku as well.}

Believable0 Unbelievable3

I am not asking questions just expressing amazement that Falcao is a likely target after he signed a new contract Surely bad business for CFC.

Agree0 Disagree0

But Falcao signed a new contract is this viable? {Ed002's Note - Sure.}

Agree0 Disagree0

If falcao and lukaku are who we end up with i would be very disappointed. if its true that Roman wants to change our style of play and be like barca, why buy 'the next drogba'. {Ed018's Note - you still need to have a center forward and at 18 lukaku appears to have a pretty bright future it'd be a good buy but obviously we still need some playmakers}

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2011 19:57:42
ED002 are English teams allowed to put buy out clauses in contracts? {Ed002's Note - They are pretty much unenforceable for teams outside of the country they are written in. Way too mu8ch is made of them. More typical is a clause to say if a team offers over £x then the player is allowed to talk to them.}

Believable1 Unbelievable6

No foreign clubs want english players

Ed what news are we going to have by the end of week? More bids? {Ed002's Note - Give me a break on this - otherwise I will just draw a line across and stop doing the Chelsea page altogether.}

Believable0 Unbelievable7

18 Jul 2011 19:44:47
Ed is it fair to assume you think we could go back for Aguero? I think we are all desperate to keep this hope alive. {Ed002's Note - I cannot say any more than possibly I am afraid.}

18 Jul 2011 19:25:50
Ed it seems that Aguero is going to replace Tevez if Tevez leaves.Is there any chance we could offer Courtois as part of a package for Aguero although it's difficult? {Ed002's Note - I am just going to say no.}

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Should we just hope for the best Ed regards Aguero since it seems tough to get him?thanks {Ed002's Note - I would.}

ED002 when a club enquires for a player how is this done via Email to the club? {Ed002's Note - Not normally. In person or via the phone would be the normal way of doing. Chelsea enquired after Di Maria in person.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Ed what was the answer to the dm enquiry {Ed002's Note - Please read the other posts.}

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2011 18:42:45
Ed have we enquired about Di Maria? {Ed002's Note - An enquiry was made to see if he is available and Chelsea were informed that he is not. Chelsea have asked to be kept informed if anything changes.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Thanks for that Ed

Agree0 Disagree0

So if someone like neymar was to sign for madrid would we have first crack at di maria? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2011 18:28:59
Any transfer news today ED002? {Ed002's Note - Nothing of note I am afraid. As I have said before, I am not really expecting too much this week. Folks are either in the Far East or South America so perhaps there will be something toward the end of the week.}

ED002 A few questions for you

1) Will we make another move for Aguero

2) have we bid or showed an interest in Vidal in the last few days?

3) anything new on pastore?

4) where are we at with the Lakaku deal?

5) also is Jeffran close to signing for Bolton?

CHEERS. {Ed002's Note - (1) Possibly; (2) You mean Vidal who is moving to Turin? Not as far as I know; (3) No; (4) Nothing has changed since Saturday; (5) I have no idea - Sevilla seemed most likely.}

Believable1 Unbelievable2

18 Jul 2011 17:56:21
sneijder. aguero. di rossi. van der wiel.di maria do you think any of these will arrive ed as i think if these are the players for positions we need NOT modric {Ed002's Note - I guess there is a chance.}

Can someone please explain to me why the club wants rid of alex. When gallas left we were awful at the back when terry or carvalho were injured. This wasn't sorted until we signed alex. These problems could start all again. It seems typical that we will sell a very good defender and buy an average one for even more money especially when there's other areas that are in desperate need of change. How many times has alex been on a losing side in his Chelsea career. I bet the figures are impressive. {Ed002's Note - Alex has suffered from injury and is no longer first choice - time has come for him to move on. There is nothing sinister about it.}

Believable4 Unbelievable0

I was gutted when gallas left even though he said what he said, but if he was played at CB with terry he would have stayed.
Mourinho got that one wrong, when gallas and terry played at CB we never conceded.
Dont let alex go, hes a beast, when he scores the ball is nowhere to be found

18 Jul 2011 16:48:41
ed, whats latest on aguero and modric. is there any information for some defender couse i think bosingwa, ferreira and alex will ve leaving. {Ed002's Note - There is nothing to report although I can confirm Alex will be leaving.}

Believable2 Unbelievable4

18 Jul 2011 16:47:27
Hi ed wondered if there was any interest in Ganso he would be just what we need. {Ed002's Note - Ganso has his heart set on AC Milan, but Milan have a non-EU quota issue if they are to sign him. The quota's can be increased by borrowing from other teams in exchange for players on loan - which seems to me like it should not be allowed, but it is. Chelsea are keeping a watching brief as they continue their long term interest and I imagine that the reported Manchester United interest is similar. PSG, Inter Milan and Barcelona have also shown an interest in the player. Anzhi Makhachkala have had a 40M euro bid rejected.}

Ed did Torres and Aguero play together at AM or I have got it wrong? {Ed002's Note - They had a season where they overlapped and played togther occasionally.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Interesting. Do you think that would have any bearing in Aguero's decision? {Ed002's Note - I doubt it.}

Agree0 Disagree0

It seems that all he cares about is money. i remember a couple of years ago when we had atletico in the group stages of the cl, he said he would love to play for chelsea because our style suited his own. i would have thought he would be even more keen on a move to us when we signed torres. unfortunately it seems as if this is not the case, hopefully he will take this into consideration when it comes to choosing between us and city

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2011 14:23:56
With Aguero's agent coming out and stating that his move will be career orientated and irrespective of financial matters - this surely gives us a slight edge over City? Surely Tevez will tell the lad what a dump the north is - nice house around cobham? Ok he will match top earners wages no doubt, but will be a fantastic addition. Versatile, creative, quick, young and with the potential to become a great. Also, how much of a say do you think Maradona will have in the matter or advise him? Great work as always, much obliged for your response. {Ed002's Note - Maradona's advice will probably stop him going to Juventus - nothing else.}

Believable6 Unbelievable3

And as for career progression - to learn and play off Drogba / Torres and Anelka (if he stays) compared to Dzeko and Jo.... {Ed002's Note - I am not so sure that Drogba will be at Chelsea next season.}

Agree0 Disagree0

What did chelski win last season, in fact what did any london team win ?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2011 14:18:45
Ed have you heard anything over a 40 million bid for Sanchez and does this mean that Aguero is not an option any longer or could we still rival city or other clubs for Aguero because he has been a reported target for a few years now? {Ed002's Note - There is no new bid for Alexis Sanchez. Chelsea made a bid that remains on the table but the player is determined to go to Barcelona. This has no impact on any further move for Aguero.}

Hey Eds

Several newspapers in Germany are reporting Chelsea are bidding for or at least showing interest in Arturo Vidal from Leverkusen. Could it be true or just paper talks?
I reckon him quite a good replacement for Essien as long as he is injured and Vidal wouldn't come too expensive as well as he is in the last year of his contract.

Thanks {Ed002's Note - I suspect Vidal will take the opportunity to move to Turin.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Vidal is a great player with character and heart, plays brilliantly in many positions... just what we need and relatively good price. I do noty understand why we are not fighting for a player like him. Chelsea should ask reference to Ballack

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2011 13:42:06
Aguero to choose between city and Chelsea by the end of the week, which is why Sturridge may be loaned out next week.Also Chelsea will still sign falcao for 35m even though he has just signed a new contract

Believable4 Unbelievable14

Can forget Falcao. He used the rumour to force an improved contract with Porto. {Ed002's Note - That is simply untrue, sorry.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed what do you mean? Please explain. {Ed002's Note - There is nothing to explain. You made a statement that was entirely incorrect. }

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey Ed, is it true that aguero is still considering chelsea as his next destanation?
He would be a brilliant signing for us. {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what the kid is considering, sorry.}

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2011 12:56:03
Hey ED, if AVB has said that the squad is strong enough then why people are speculating so much on his comments & not trusting him. I do think just adding 1 player will be enough as we have great squad. i trust AVB. The players just need to play to their real ability & skill. that's what AVB is trying to do.
KTBFFH

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Disagree. We need more than one player, at least 3. As I have said it is easy to bit mid-table teams with the current squad. When it comes to big teams however the current squad falls way short.

Agree0 Disagree0

We need at least 2 new players, we need a winger also a player like luka modric who i still think we sign because what good is he now to spurs when he want's out.

I thought that Chelsea's plans were to buy 4-5 players this summer, but as I heard AVB is happy with the current squad... is that true? we really need fresh blood {Ed002's Note - Just give it a little time. And keep in mind at the start of the summer AVB was not expected to be the manager.}

Yes I know what u mean, but the thing is that we are loosing the track of the players that Chelsea needs, like Aguero or Pastore. And what about Modric? 3 days ago I was sure that he was going to join us, but as I have been reading in ur page looks like maybe he wont move.

Eds are we still trying to get pastore then or have we decided modric is way forward? I would like to see Cech
Vdw
Luiz
Terry
Cole
Modric
Lamps
Pastore
Aguero
Torres
Di Maria
If not pastore another good exciting playmaker. Snijder maybe. Opinions {Ed002's Note - Chelsea have been asked if they would like to submit a further bid for Pastore. They maintain an interest in the player.}

Believable0 Unbelievable6

The problem with Pastore is that his dragging the ball to much. That way he's slowing whole team. In my opinion I would like to see Sneijder in Chelsea than Pastore.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets face facts Chelsea fans. We're struggling to buy players and can you blame players for not wanting to come to the bridge. We've got no consistency in the club. Manager sacked every year, if you were a top player, would you wnat to go. So we can forget about pastore, aguero, di maria, modric, VDW, Neymar etc....Why do you think AVB is coming out and saying he doesn't need players, more like he cant get any players.
Going to be a poor season, ageing squad, poor players, inexperienced manager. Top 6 if we're lucky. Not being down beat, just realistic.

Agree0 Disagree0

Where did di maria come from, seriously not happening, pastore also said he wants to stay in italy, making the milan duo favourites to sign him {Ed002's Note - There was a discussion between representatives of Chelsea and Real Madrid where a general enquiry was made with respect to the potential availability of Di Maria. Chelsea were informed that he is not available but have asked to be kept informed if anything changes.}

ED, what a disaster for we fans. Players whom we want them to leave the club are coming up with their thoughts on daily basis.
Now, Saloman Kalou says, the current squad can bring back the Premiership for us and finally AVB saying there will not be a radical change in the squad.
Where is the Blue's hunt for younger players that made us so enthusiastic a month before?
Why is Abrahmovich so calm now?
Do they think they can hold on to stay even at TOP FOUR with this squad?
Bad times for we die hard fans coming this season I suspect.
Now AVB says , he has 2 weeks to decide whom to bring... & Man U already signing 3 players, looking to bring a playmaker.. the club that won the cup last season think of a radical change and we??
Where is Chelsea football heading towards?
Please make us stay cool...

Believable2 Unbelievable2

You are wright. liverpool signed 4 players, man utd 3, man city 2, arsenal 2 and tottenham 2. thats a bummer... i think avb should go for aguero/di maria, de rossi/tiote and pastore... those are players ho we need
de rossi or tiote to replace essien
aguero or di maria for a winger
and pastore to be a kind of replacement for lampard

First of all ED is Neymar well and truly no longer ran option, or are we still in with a (reasonable) chance? If we are out how do our chances look visa vi Lucas Moura (actually just how do our chances look, he'd be great with Neymar)?

How too go our other Brazilian options, Paulo Henrique Ganso and Guilherme Costa? Coudl we revive interest in Alex Teixeira and Douglas Costa?

Secondly I'd like to run a few option by you, first of all, temporary/long term Essien replacements; first of all Moussa Sissoko, tall strong and a very hard runner, similar to Essien or Yaya Toure, probably the ideal replacement for Essien long term, but should he be signed now?

Second is Blaise Matuidi, long touted as the 'next Claude Makelele', he has a great footballing brain, is solid defensively and plays well in the centre of midfield, is he a viable option?

The third option is Kwadwo Asamoah, a star of Ghana's World Cup squad, he's got great pace, strength and stamina, but will Udinese part with him and Sanchez in the one transfer window?

The Fourth option is Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe, a commanding midfielder from Belgium (where we seem to like recruiting from lately) he's another I'd suggest as a good long term Essien replacement, but again should he be signed sooner or later?

The remaining options include, Scott Parker, is not a sensible option, he's old and and failed last time he was at Chelsea, Josh MacEachran, a huge talent but it's too soon for him to take up his spot in the first XI, a loan would be good, while France and Le Harve midfielder Gueida Fofana is too young and inexperienced, Bastian Schweinsteiger is probably not going to be sold.

In the place of Modric, a saga that has gone on too long and will not result is a good value for money signing, should we instead consider Joao Moutinho or Josip Ilicic?

{Ed002's Note - The situation with Neymar remains that it is likely that he will move to Real Madrid, but nothing has been agreed or signed with them. Ganso's desire is AC MIlan - and as has been explained they have quota issues. Anzhi are interested in both Neymar and Ganso and have had an offer of 40M euro turned down for Ganso these past few days. As for the other Brazilians I really can't say. I am not so sure a replacement for Essien needs to be recruited but everyone at Chelsea, Parker and Mourinho would be pretty upset with you seeing a player out injured for so long as "failing" at Chelsea. Fernando is the player that Chelsea have enquired about. Moutinho and Ilicic - I don't know.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I was perhaps a little unfair to Parker, do you think much will happen while the squad is away on the tour of Asia, or will we have to wait until after that is finished to see any concrete moves made? {Ed018's Note - i think its doubtful, maybe continued talks with Anderlecht for Lukaku and maybe another bid for Modric}
