Today after reading about the transfer of Cavani to PSG I came to realise just how proud I am of Chelsea FC. If anything this has just shown us that Cavani clearly moved for money and nothing more because let's face it, Napoli are a better side than PSG and the Italian Serie A is more of a competition than Ligue 1. If he really wanted a challenge and to move to a 'big' club like he stated, why wouldn't he have waited for his clause to expire in August? Chelsea were right not to bend over to Naploi's demands and is a clear message that we won't be taken for complete mugs. i'd love to see us utilise our academy and start producing some fantastic home grown talent. I still think we need a proven world class striker and to be honest I wouldn't really mind seeing Rooney at Chelsea, he is a proven Premier League player, not so great at International level but I think Jose could spark him back into a lethal predator. He wouldn't want to play second fiddle to RVP so it makes more sense for him to leave and he would cost less than half of what Cavani did for PSG. Scott M.

Wish our supporters were not so arrogant when it comes to psg. They are doing now what we did when roman took over. We have only been a "big" club for a relatively short period of time. Dave

Scott M-pretty funny comment coming from a Chelsea fan-who then talks about signing Rooney!

Yeah, sure he wants to move for the fresh air found in Chelsea and nothing to do with money!

Agree7 Disagree9

He could have the money at Man U if he wanted, he made clear his disappointment at Man U when Fergie dropped him against PSG. Whether he comes or not is up to him and Man U, all i'm saying is I wouldn't sniff at a player who is proven at this level and could offer us a lot upfront. Scott M.

Agree4 Disagree7

United fan here

I had to laugh as that is quite rich coming from a chelsea fan, where have you been the the last 30 years pre and post abrahamovic LMAOF.

Finally, PSG is at another level to Napoli and you definitely need to watch some football mate

Shahram

Agree5 Disagree8

Think you need to watch it making crap comments like that. The French league is half arsed and barely watched, like an expensive version of the SPL these days. Ok Chelsea weren't a massive club before Roman but they were successful in the sense that they didn't have much money, were a mid table team at best. PSG are team full of mercs and won't win anything more than domestic success, Chelsea have excelled at the highest standard and have a togetherness that even Man City can't achieve. Time people wised up and realised that money does not buy success. Scott M.

Agree10 Disagree5

Chelsea were in the champion's league when Roman took over, so we were a top team already. We also had players like Zola, R, Guillit, Vialli, Poyet, De Matteo, etc etc. Roman took us to the next level. Some of the person's on here are implying we had no history. Well we don't live on past history, we make history. NOW FOR THE NEXT INSTALLMENT. Good luck the happy one.

Agree8 Disagree5

Really

You won nothing like PSG until abra showed up and you guys were the engineers of paying huge sums for accumulating teams and players and this whole transfer frenzy started with no other place than Chelsea.

Now you have a few more nouvo rich teams who can do the same and you are moaning. Give PSG 10 years like it took you and then make comments like that.

Shahram

No matter what you say about the French league, psg are a much better and bigger team than Napoli and he has alit more chance of success in Europe their than he did with Napoli, imo psg will be up there next season again challenging for champs league, um not saying they're going to win it but they will be there abouts and can assure you no team will look to get them in the draw, when some will see Napoli as a decent one, plus with Monaco on the up again and lyon always being a decent side and with Marseille finishing second last year the French league is looking quite competitive.

So Manchester United don't spend money. 30 years of being the biggest spenders in the PL. Then Chelsea & M, city come along & they cry like little baby's. Plastic fan, probably living in Cornwall. Now you don't have red nose cheating with refs, your be crying even more.

Agree10 Disagree4

I thought fergi was the one that started paying silly money for Veron & Rio first, both £30 million. Rooney earns double any Chelsea player. Manchester United started the silly money. let's face it who has the biggest debt in world sport, that right Man Utd.

Agree9 Disagree4

Shahram stop talking crap, why not try looking up what Chelsea won before Roman joined before you spout your rubbish Manc crap. Scott M.

Agree4 Disagree5

To jns.

Man utd have a debt against them due to the owners, not because they have spent too much money.
They are so profitable that the owners have backed all there other assets against them. You sound like a typical jealous fan, envious of there success.

Agree4 Disagree4

Through time man united have always been big spenders, in the 80s and 90s biggest spenders. Sounds worse these days because the fees are higher, but everything has gone up in price. Man United fans are dillusional persons. Who doesn't realise the world we live in is getting more expensive.

Agree5 Disagree3

Best part of this: a supporter of the club who paid £30m for Veron, trying to spell "neuvau riche".

I mean damn fella, damn.

Agree2 Disagree1

United pend there own money earned. Chelsea and City didn't/don't, hence inflated wages and transfer fees to levels that weren't sustainable.

Agree3 Disagree1

To jns how much is fernando torres on and how much is rooney on. I am no manc fan but you do need to check your facts, also I can't remember what hazards wage was.

dave

Agree1 Disagree2

Damn fella damn check the spelling of nouveau riche hm hm tad embarrassing that old boy

dave

Agree3 Disagree2

All of uniteds payments for players came from their own pocket, not from a sugar daddy benefactor.

Agree3 Disagree2

Think you are right about cavani great player but money was top of his agenda as well as Napoli. Cavani has without doubt joined a inferior league that far less competitive than prem LA liga binders and Spanish. PSG will dominate and cavani will shine but it will be all to easy for him. Remember even Barton shines in the French league!

Ed, what's the latest with Marquinhos? {Ed018's Note - looks like he might be headed to PSG}

My opinion we will make one big effort to buy Rooney if not successful then Jose will stick with what he's got, may also bring in de Rossi

Believable10 Unbelievable2

Let's just hope we don't go for Hulk.

Agree12 Disagree3

Hulk god no, he looks dangerously overweight.

Hi Ed, is the reported interest in ibrahimovic true and do you know if Chelsea are looking at him for a new striker? after missing out on Cavani, Lewandowski. Many thanks {Ed018's Note - last I heard there was no interest in Ibrahimovic}

Hi eds do u think the possibility of Rooney joining Chelsea is getting greater by the day many thanks {Ed018's Note - last I heard it most likely he would probably stay at United but for Mourinho to talk about him a few times now in his press conferances makes me think there has to be some interest.}

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Many thanks ed quite Afew Chelsea players also taking there time out to talk about him so you never no

Agree3 Disagree2

I hope Jose is playing mind games and using the Rooney situation to keep other business on the shy. We can only hope as Rooney really isn't the answer.

Agree7 Disagree3

While I'm not 100% convinced about Rooney being good for the club I think if anyone can get the best out of him it would be JM.

Agree4 Disagree2

If he submits a transfer request then I think he will be off.

Some of the alleged Man U transfer targets (Jovetic, Fabregas) would indicate that the club are already looking at life after Rooney.

Agree2 Disagree2

Which makes you think given Arsenal have first dibs on Fabregas as per their sale contract with Barca, is Rooney a part of that as a make weight? Can't really see Rooney (or Suarez) in a gooner shirt though. Can see Fellaini there though.

Agree2 Disagree1

Cant see Barcelona getting rid of a second Midfielder, (Thiago Alacantara) and now Fabregas. I think Fabregas will be a replacement for Xavi once he retires. Jovetic is probably going to City. Fellaini is looking more of an option for United right now.

Agree5 Disagree2

Hi again ed aswell why wouldn't we be interested if Rooney is kept happy he was of the best strikers around

Agree2 Disagree3

You got it right with 'was'
