Sorry but you can't blame poch for that. And I don't really want him to stay but he set them up and if it wasnt for absolutely no composure in the final third we could of won 3-0.
I personally think we played well. And nullified city for most of the game.
I think if you take off your emotional head that we have just lost again you can see plenty of positives over the last month and half.
Once all the injuries are back and hopefully a world class striker ( could that be nkunku anyway maybe) and replace silva with another experienced CB.

Pertrovic - played well again.
Gusto - quality what happens when reece is back.
Chaloba - assured defending for most of the game.
Silva - usual consistent self.
Cucu - aggressive. I don't blame him for the goal he made the right choice but keeper change direction of the ball.
MC - I think getting better and better. At breaking up play. Shocking at creating or scoring lol.
Enzo - sloppy today still not match fit.
Connor - worked hard, but always lacks finesse. Played out of position. He should of been moved back to the pivot with MC earlier with enzo removed.
Palmer - very quite day.
Jackson - shocking infront of goal. Does other things nice but he is there to score goals. Crying about taking a pen in the last game then goes and misses 3 great chances without really causing the keeper any trouble.

Gusto should go to left back if Reece is fit but that’s a big ask.

Chalobah I thought was fantastic at the back today I don’t think he’s any worse than Badiashile or Disasi. Great squad player to have.

Jackson is so up and down it’s unreal he’s definitely a winger he scores the hard chances but when he has to long to think he misses them. Desperately need a target man in the middle whether that’s Sesko or Osimhen who knows.

Nkunku should play off the left when fit but we haven’t seen him fit yet really. Nkunku is very good in front of goal.

Jsfinchy. I might slightly disagree with some of your player assessments but I totally agree about not blaming Poch.

I’m obviously gutted about the result but not how we performed.

21 Apr 2024 08:31:16
How many times have we said that this season though, good performance, can't score to save our lives.

Where would we be with a CF who can put away the chances we create.

21 Apr 2024 10:28:43
Bill, we have signed plenty of strikers in in the last twenty years and I can only remember two who worked out and one of them it took two seasons.

I do agree we should sign a striker but our history dictates that is no guarantee of success. ’.

21 Apr 2024 11:00:20
Actually make that three. Crespo was class.

21 Apr 2024 12:02:15
Its a shame that Crespo never wanted to stay longer, that goal away to Wigan on first day of the season always lives long in the memory.

21 Apr 2024 12:30:11
Just trying to work out the other two of your three strikers since 2004, Tom (though to fit in Crespo it'd have to be a 2003 start) – presumably Drogba and Costa. Seems a bit harsh on Anelka and Giroud – I'd have either of them in this team in a heartbeat. I'd have Remy too – a wonderful player who wasn't ever really given the chance. Honestly, I'd probably even take Morata or Pizarro at this point.

21 Apr 2024 12:46:45
Edw. good point about Anelka but for me he rarely played for us as striker.

I admired Giroud as a player. Good first touch but was very slow. Scored good goals but never that many for us.

Strangely Remy reminds me a bit of Jackson. He always seemed to struggle when he had time, with the exception of a fantastic goal against the scousers.

21 Apr 2024 15:15:19
You're right Tom, Anelka was often on the wing, but I think that's because we had Drogs up front most of the time while he was with us.

Remy I don't think he was ever given a run. The difference between him and Jackson was that he was proven PL goalscorer – he was incredible at QPR. I think if he'd been given the time in the team that Jackson's had this season he'd have been a great player for us. Could be wrong, of course. We've rarely seemed to play to strikers' strengths – Palmer is maybe the first player we've had who regularly sees a through ball since Fabregas.

21 Apr 2024 15:50:11
It’s the managers job to understand and play to a strikers strengths. The worst example of seen of a manager not doing this was TT with Lukaku.

20 Apr 2024 20:20:13
Hurt me at the end seeing Silva crying cause it was the last chance to win a trophy and behind all I could see was Madueke laughing with Grealish.

Some players are winners and some are just happy to be there I was disgusted after just losing a semi final.

20 Apr 2024 20:57:05
I’m sure Noni was just as upset as every person associated with CFC.

20 Apr 2024 21:03:30
Look at the trophy’s at the same age, silva will be the one laughing.

20 Apr 2024 21:41:15
Time will tell but it’s sad this is Silvia’s last season playing for us. He has been a class act.!

20 Apr 2024 20:08:04
Feeling total crap (not the game) and I'm not allowed any alcohol. Hi hum!

My MOM for us was Chalaboa.

City's MOM was Jackson.

So, let me make it clear Jackson is a player who has improved all season and putting today's missed chances to one side he had a very good game. The problem is he is meant to take those chances.

He didn't miss any more than Palmer did against Liverpool but there some fans who just don't rate him (Nib) and never will.

We only have Palmer up front showing true composure but I have no problems with the game plan or effort.

Anyway stay well lads.

20 Apr 2024 21:10:37
Palmers proves himself every game and scores most games and it’s not his job to he’s a midfielder the guy who does get paid to up till last week I think had gone 7 games without and has missed another hat full of opportunities. Like I said the pros in commentary said it all he doesn’t look like scoring he runs around a lot that’s it.
Striker require asap.

20 Apr 2024 21:13:54
Stay safe Tom and don’t worry about the alcohol there will be other opportunities.

20 Apr 2024 21:27:14
Speedy recovery Tom.

20 Apr 2024 21:44:45
Judge players from game to game and give an opinion about there worth to the club at the end of the season. All players can have bad games or bad runs of games.

Generally Jackson has been good this season and I only see him improving with premiership experience and hopefully good coaching.

20 Apr 2024 19:34:09
The game vs city is another reason for managerial change, poch is not the right coach for us. City was there for our taking bpoch as usual bottled it with his substitution. He just doesn't have a winner mentality and its going to rub off negatively on the young players we have. city were obviously tired from the ucl extra time but poch failed to take advantage from his line up and substitution.
Imo poch should be replaced in the summer.

20 Apr 2024 20:11:58
Tusole, I can’t blame Poch for missed chances. His game plan and the teams effort was good.

20 Apr 2024 20:20:51
Don’t like him but can you tell me how it’s his fault Jackson missed 3 big chances today?

20 Apr 2024 19:24:36
Would like to say I blame poch but we still made chances still hope he's sacked in the morning for the stupid decision to play Gallagher on the left.
when we have mudruk sterling that all play there and it's natural to them. The sooner the season finishes the better and Gallagher goes to spurs or anywhere else not bothered sick and tired of listening to people say but his work rate is brilliant he does a lot of work off the ball he's awful not able to pass forward shoot dribble make opportunities and then the odd time we do it goes to Jackson he would be in the same taxi get out this club the easiest 3 opportunities you will ever see in a semi final. The commentators said it the best he doesn't look like scoring go and buy Watkins it will be silly money put Jackson in the deal as well it's ok being able to run a round and drag defenders about his aim and what he gets paid for is to score goals win us games he's done nothing like it get. Shearer saying there all sitters I bet he would of been walking off with ball.

20 Apr 2024 20:16:16
Poch did nothing wrong in this game. Chances were missed by Jackson and there is a lack of composure generally in front of goal.

There is always another season to look forward to. God willing!

20 Apr 2024 20:37:06
You'd genuinely have preferred to see Mudryk or Sterling out on the left Nib? After watching Mudryk's cameo today? After watching Sterling all season? I think it's more of an indictment of the recruitment team that Poch doesn't trust (with good reason) £120 million of talent on that left side. Strange how differently we see games. It's not his natural position, but Gallagher broke up so many City attacks today, and had disrupted their passing rhythm. Where I'd criticise Poch is Disasi for Gusto and Mudryk for Madueke, but both of those players were out on their feet and it's not really his fault if we've got no decent players to come on in those positions. Mudryk looked like he might turn a corner but he's just so hesitant. Didn't defend well today, and looks like a man conserving energy when he's only on for 10 minutes.

20 Apr 2024 20:59:38
Edw, I think we will find that Gusto has a niggle. I will be astonished if he plays on Tuesday.

With the benefit of hindsight Noni staying would have offered more than Mudryk.

20 Apr 2024 19:20:27
Can't stand poch but not his fault today. He coached a 4-0 win shame Jackson can't finish and we should have had a pen.

Love Jackson's all round game but he can't lead the line he needs to play LW. Desperately need a goal scorer to take the weight off Palmer's shoulders.

21 Apr 2024 04:54:19
Stop pop sting Jackson, play mudryk up top,

21 Apr 2024 10:30:17
BLUEBOY, I assume the suggestion of playing Mudryk “up top” stems from anger.

20 Apr 2024 19:13:14
Sad about the result but the boys played really well. If Nico had his shooting boots on, I think we win that. Fine margins win football matches, let’s hope we can string some results together and see what league position we end up in.

20 Apr 2024 20:19:11
He terrible.

20 Apr 2024 21:28:29
Jackson doesn’t have any shooting boots. He is not a striker and never will be. I have read some posts saying that Drogba didn’t have a great start at Chelsea- true, but I don’t know what that has got to to do with anything.

If the implication is that Jackson will be as good as Drogba, that is fanciful. The best thing for him is to be given an opportunity to play out wide- otherwise on the bench.7.

20 Apr 2024 21:51:33
Jimbo, Drogba didn’t just have an average first season his second season wasn’t that fantastic either if I remember correctly.

Drogba improved. Jackson has improved his general play and contribution throughout the season.

I have no idea how he will compare to Drogba in terms of CFC scoring stats. There playing styles are so different it’s not really a true comparison as players anyway.

Interesting that you have written of his entire career as a striker. Only time will tell.

20 Apr 2024 23:52:42
Tom, why do you keep bringing Drogba into the mix then. Yes they are different Drogba was a striker. I haven’t written his career off, I have given my opinion about him as a CF, just like you frequently did about Alonso for example. Yes, of course, time will tell, but I am giving my opinion as I see things at present.

21 Apr 2024 04:09:28
The point I’m making about Drogba is to show that players can improve as goal scorers. I am NOT comparing there style of play.

I praised Alonso as a wing back particularly going forward but in a four he couldn’t defend. That criticism was after more than one season.

20 Apr 2024 11:54:17
Good luck to our women's team in their first leg vs Barcelona.

20 Apr 2024 15:47:24
Well done Chelsea women, great furst leg result.

20 Apr 2024 19:58:49
Very good result.

21 Apr 2024 04:10:29
Well done the ladies but it will still be a difficult match at the bridge.

20 Apr 2024 09:39:38
Total respect to Enzo, has been playing through injury most of the season and may well need corrective surgery at some point. Old school attitude to help the team. I like that in a player and when fully fit I believe he will silence the doubters. Top player.

20 Apr 2024 10:37:28
Agreed G8 and also he is a young player so will only get better.
